What is the best 2 room video baby monitor?

Kristin

I would like to get a baby video monitor but I want it in both kids rooms with only one monitor screen. What is the best one on the market for the cheapest price. Or...is there a video system out that has only one camera that I can order a 2nd camera separate for?

Answer
Hi

Like any other products, baby monitors need to suit your lifestyle and satisfy your requirements, even to the slightest of details. So before you purchase one, try to dwell on a number of factors first. These things will not only serve as your guide, they will also help you pick out the best type or brand for your little one.

Some of the things you need to consider are:

Range
Portability
Levels of Interference
Video Monitoring Options

There are more details at the link in the source box about the Best Baby Monitors and I hope they help

Take care

At what age did you put your baby into there own room?

best baby monitor movement sensor on Baby Monitor Sensor on Baby Monitor Movement Tempature Monitor Tommee ...
best baby monitor movement sensor image

My life is

This is what I am planning to do when my Little Man arrives I am planning to keep him in my room for the first 3 months then put him in his own room with a monitor and one of the newer motion sensors that you lay underneath him to monitor his movement and breathing of course!
What do you think about that?

Answer
I put my son in his own room at 2 months, and only used a monitor. I heard the alarm thing goesoff to much. When we put our son in his crib, he slept longer, and we didn't hear all his little noises so we slept better.

What do you know about Baby Sensor Mats?

Fairy Dust

I am doing a little research into baby monitors. I have seen the sensor mat/pad which lies beneath the baby's matress. It goes off if it does not detect any sound/movement for 20 secs.
Now, a few concerns...
a) does it go off quite often in the night (scaring you half to death) but usually false alarms.
b) how does it sensor movement when baby is laying still? breathing movements? of which it would have to be very sensitive!
c) Do they really work?!

Answer
we had one with our daughter. it senses the breath movements. The only time ours went off was when she finally figured out how to wiggle off of it giving me a heart attack lol.

I just had a baby and want to loose the weight for a vacation that is in 2 months?

baby monitor 500 feet on Wireless Connectivity from the Best Baby Monitor
baby monitor 500 feet image

T

I walk allot and i am constantly moving and doing stuff. I barely eat for I have barley anytime to with a new born. I dont want to spend hundreds of dollars for I just had baby and diapers and formula dont come cheap? Help please?

Answer
Here you go: This is from my own experience and what has worked for me. I have laid it all out for you so that others may have the success I have.

The perfect way to loose weight and monitor your progress is to use a calorie counter on a daily basis while you diet.

Energy In/Energy Out

Food Intake: 1,200 Per Day

One Pound equals 3,500 Calories

To loose one pound per day, You need to burn your food intake plus your one pound of fat

1,200 (intake) + 3,500 (Outtake) = 4,700 Calories Burn

You must burn at least 4,700 Calories everyday to loose one pound at least. It is very easy to go up and beyond 4,700 calories each day.

Best way to do this is to track your progress on a calorie counter monitor watch. If you do it by the numbers you can loose the weight. It is just a matter of changing the way you think about weight loss.

Once you start wearing your calorie counter you can see the numbers increase and you fill find yourself doing extra things in your day, like tapping your foot while waiting at the light in your car, chewing gum, singing out loud and so on onto of your workout routines. You begin to see that everything you do in your day contributes to the overall numbers needed to loose that pound.

Water Intake/Less Storage

Most people do not get enough water in their system. Water is your body's principal chemical component, comprising, on average, 60 to 80 percent of your weight. Every system in your body depends on water. For example, water flushes toxins out of vital organs, carries nutrients to your cells and provides a moist environment for ear, nose and throat tissues.

Lack of water can lead to dehydration, a condition that occurs when you don't have enough water in your body to carry out normal functions. To determine if you are getting enough water use this simple formula.. Take your weight, for example 150 pounds and divide by 2. Take your answer which is 75 lbs and change it to ounces, in this case 75 ounces. That is how many ounces of water you need a day. Your body performs mostly on water. If you make sure you get enough water everyday your body will perform at top notch and your body will no longer have the cravings of junk food. You will have a better performing body system to help you work out and feel better thru out your day.

Good Food

My favorite things to eat:

Avocado Wraps

Simple: Low Carb Tortilla, Half Avocado sliced, alpha sprouts, lettuce, soy bacon...Just wrap it up and eat. You can vary the things you put inside so long as you keep it to approx 4 or 5 items. You want to make sure they are fresh, low calorie and filling. Avocado and mushrooms can replace meats in your meal and still have great taste.

Special K Cereals are fantastic. They have that sweetness that one craves and is so good for you. Calories are low. Great for even just dinner.

First thing in the morning...A Glass of Chocolate Milk. Yup!! Chocolate Milk. We all crave that "got to have" item in the morning. Milk is the best thing you can have for yourself while working out. The chocolate (and you can use Carnation Instant Milk for this but I simply use Nestle dry mix) will give you that sweet "snack" that you need. If you give your body a little bit of it and its in a control way, you will not crave sweets and junk the rest of the day.

Lean Cuisines

Fantastic food! Each meal is approx 180 t0 380 calories per box. So think about your calories. 1,200...You can still have several of these meals a day and still be under your intake requirements.

Itâs all about the numbers and watching what you take in and what you burn out. And you know what..If you go over your 1,200 mark for food intake...thatâs okay...you simple up your total calories burned for the day by what you took it. So long as you burn off the over all calories to be more than your food intake. Just make sure you stick too it so you can reach your weight loss goals.

Fruits and Veggies

All you want on the schedule listed below.
Bananas are my favorite. They are very filling and can make a meal all on their own.

____

Vitamins

My favorite is ONE A DAY WITH ENERGY...I am in love with this vitamin because I am just like everyone else who loves those quick fix energy drinks. But what people do not realize is that energy drinks can contain 120 to 440 calories in just ONE Can. If you think about it..That is HALF of your allowed calories for food intake. The best alternative I have found is One a day with energy vitamin. Easy to spot, it is packaged in a green label bottle. Just One vitamin a day will give you as much energy as approx. 1 1/2 cans of red bull...WITHOUT the calorie intake.
WoW..now your making progress already because you have made more room in your intake calories for actual healthy food.

_____

Soda/Carbonation

Carbonation is terrible for your system because it bloats your stomach. And when your stomach bloats, your jeans just don't fit. You can drop one pant size simply by NOT drinking any carbonated drinks all together..Take away the bloat and you have instantly just made it one pant size lower. Besides, Sodas dehydrate you and with that One a Day Vitamin, you won't need the Caffeine in the soda and it will also cut out those extra calories that you don't need.
So remove that soda and the energy drinks and just think how much calories you just instantly removed from your daily intake. I normally consume what...four sodas and two energy drinks in one day...that is a total of .... 900 calories. Of what??? Nothing...Those are horrible calories and calories that can be replaced by food which will fuel your body for your day and your workouts.

____

Your Body

Your body is like a computer. You must program your body to do what it is suppose to do so it won't crash and leave you with a virus. Your stomach is only the size of your fist. So think about it right now, Look at your hand and close your fist. Not very big is it. That is how much food you actually ONLY need to eat, each time you eat for every meal. If you eat anything more than that, you will stretch out your stomach which causes overeating and overweight.

What you need to do is eat every three hours, approx 5 to 7 times everyday around the same time. If you are always giving your body healthy and better food choices (the size of your fist) every three hours, your body will know you are giving it food. It will use that food properly. It will not go into starvation mode or store food away for later because it knows...it will get more in three hours. So what does your body do...it flushes everything out of your system because it doesn't need it.. Now it knows...you wont' forget about it and that food is on its way.

____

Walking Buddy

This is the best thing especially for woman. Get a walking buddy. One hour everyday. Just think about how much talking, venting and laughing two woman can do together while walking and yup, you guessed it...it just burns more calories and reduces your stress. You now are more relaxed because you can talk and free yourself of whatever is frustrating you while getting into shape.

I am a 16 year old boy trying to gain muscle?

HeyyoAznKi

I am a 16 year old asian boy who is currently 5 foot 8 trying to gain muscle. I am 130 lbs...i eat as much foods as i can with protein in it and i use 100% whey protein. What should i do to gain bicep muscles, pecs, and back and shoulder muscles. Please give me tips and exercises. Thanks people.

Answer
14 is a good young age to start because your muscle building testosterone male hormone is high and will be along with growth hormone through your teen years. Work out with free weights, they're much much better (and harder) than the machines. You want to cause maximum stress to the muscles in your body, so you grow everywhere. You cannot only grow in one area, you can try, but you will get much better results if you work the whole body, the bigger muscles like legs/chest/shoulders/back take a lot of work and cause more growth all over the body. Do a whole body workout in one day, and repeat 3times a week. Use big muscles first because your energy will be higher, and do the smaller muscles at the end. Do at least 3sets of 8-12 reps per body part, then, once you have maximally stressed your muscles, the next thing you need to do is feed them well with good food. Food, is like a drug, and just like babies that eat regularly in the day to grow fast, you need to be eating more to grow. You do not need to eat much more than usual, but it should be enough that you gain 1-2lbs every week or 2weeks. The choice is yours about how much muscle you want, because if you work out hard and get good sleep for recovery, eating only a little will slow your growth, eating more will boost it to the maximum rate. The faster you gain muscle, the more you will also gain fat, the slower you gain muscle, the less fat you gain, so it is upto you if you want to get big fast and then diet off the fat later, for a month or so. If you gain about 1lb a week or 2weeks, that is reasonable, and there shouldn't be too much fat. Think of growing muscle like looking after a new baby plant. It needs food, water and to rest at night to grow. Good foods are for energy: brown bread/rice/pasta, potatoes, cereal, nuts, fruit. For health:fruit, veg, beans, oily fish. Make sure you eat at least 1g animal protein per lb of your bodyweight, if you weigh 100lbs, get at least 100g protein a day from animal produce like: lean meat, chicken, other birds, fish, eggs, milk. Make sure you drink at least 2litres water a day.

Here's some more guides from me on exercise and diet. When gaining weight (muscle) add calories instead of cutting calories. You can use this guide foe gaining weight (muscle) and losing weight (fat) just by either increasing or decreasing calories.

Weight loss/gain is all about this equation: energy taken in-energy used (energy for maintaining weight+energy burned in activity)

The basic equation to approximate maintenance needs is:

Maintenance=body weight in poundsx12
This is an estimate, and you may gain/lose according to difference in metabolism/activity level, weight you have to lose, genetic factors.

Conversion of weights: 300lbs:136kg:21stone or 1stone=14lbs, 1kg=2.2lbs

If you follow the maintenance and still gain/lose adjust by 250-500cals, monitoring weight after a week for reliability. Once you have a reasonable estimate, you want to lose weight healthily, otherwise, besides compromising health, your body realises whatâs happening and thinks itâs being starved to death and will resist your efforts by slowing metabolism. When you do eat, it will then use this opportunity to regain as much fat as possible, perhaps more than before. Itâs also important to realise most weight loss in the first week is mainly water, which easily comes back when eating normalises, as water is stored in the body with energy stores.

The guideline for healthy loss/gain, is 1-2lbs a week. This correlates to 3500-7000cals per week, or 500-1000cals less per day than maintenance.

Example: 200lbs person, maintenance= 200x12=2400cals a day
2lbs loss a week=7000cals a week or 1000cals less a day
2400-1000= 1400cals a day produces 2lbs a week loss.

When weight loss stops, you can increase activity and/or decrease cals further by 250-500cals per day.

Diet wise, fruits, veg, grains, brown bread and wholewheat pasta, good fats from extra virgin olive oil, oily fish like salmon, mackerel, fresh not tinned tuna, kippers. Lean sources protein like skinless poultry, lean cuts red meat, eggs, skim milk. At least 2litres or 8pints of water daily is recommended, more if exercising/in hot weather. Youâll need to look at everything you eat, not just the writing advertising the product, but the real information they hide on the back with the calories, carbs, protein, fat and salt. Eventually, youâll get an idea for the energy in foods, and you wonât always need to check. One thing to watch out for considering salt intake should be under5g, 1g sodium is 3-4g salt. Most of us eat 6-15g or more salt a day, the only way to cut this enough is to stop eating the premade, prepackaged ready meals and sauces.

Exercise wise, gym training with weights is very beneficial bringing many more health improvements beyond cardio. Resistance training means you donât just shrink from a pear/apple shape to a smaller pear/apple, but you actually shape your body at the same time.

How much does it cost the first year to raise a baby and other questions.?

baby monitor under $100 on Evenflo Discovery 5 Infant Car Seat and Evenflo Embrace 35 Alahambra ...
baby monitor under $100 image

Katie-Lynn

I am not pregnant. This is a protect for school.

What is the annual cost the first year to raise a baby?

Second question. Im going to give you a list of newborn items. Tell me which items are TRULY NECESSARY.

Crib
diaper changing table
rocking chair
baby monitor
baby bathtub
bottles
bottle brush
bottle drying rack
baby swing
pacifiers
infant bouncer
swaddling blanket
play mat
play pen
carseat

Answer
Crib
Carseat
Bottles
Swaddling blanket
Play mat (can be used on floor as changing mat too)
These are the basic basic needs for me. You can get by without the others but not these.

The annual costs for a baby each year is different for every person. Some woman breast feed which is cheaper than formula. Others use cloth diapers which are cheaper than disposable etc.
I bought a pack of 15 reusable pea pod diapers for $70. These can be used from newborn right up to 3 years, so I only bought 1 pack of disposable diapers during the first year, to see what was better. Diapers are about $10 (new Zealand dollars) a pack. Babies go through about 5-10 nappies each day in the first few weeks, and then about 3-5 a day from around 4 months to a year. So do the math and it'll give you an approximate answer (get the price of diapers from your local supermarket).
If breast fed, it cost nothing. I breast fed, but I also bought a breast pump and baby bottles for $150 in case baby needed to be left with another person etc. if formula feeding, do some research online on the average formula used a month, and then times that by 12 (12 months in a year) get a price from your local supermarket.
Clothes- this depends on where you buy from etc, but I spent about $800 on all clothes up to 12 months. (including shoes, socks, togs, pyjamas etc)
I spent about $20 or so on baby shampoo, soap and powder every 6 or so weeks, so that's about $180 a year.
I bought baby towels and facecloths before my baby was born and they lasted right up until she was four. I spent $30 on 5 towels and a couple packs of facecloths.
Bibs- got given some at baby shower, but bought a few packs for $20 around about, these lasted the whole time needed.
Bassinet/Moses basket - needed for first 8 weeks, cost me $80
Crib- needed up until about 2- cost me $250
Stroller- needed up until about 3- cost me $150
Car seat- Bought a seat that was used from birth til 4 years. Cost $150
Blankets, sheets, duvets for crib- got given some at baby shower but probably costs about $100 for a couple pairs of sheets, blankets etc
Swaddling blankets- needed for first few weeks (I used them but not necessary) depending on brand etc but I got a few muslin wraps for $30.
Baby bath- optional, but I used one. $30
Medication such as baby Tylenol, gripe water, teething gel, teething powder etc about $50 all up the first year (depends)
Baby food- baby cereals, rusks, custards and other tinned foods probably about $90 a month (depends how much food baby eats. This price is based on my baby who at 7 months ate 2 tins a day, at $1.50 each) I also bought veggies and meat, and puréed these myself for baby. (this price will depend, as some babies don't start real food until a year old) my girl at 10-12 months was eating the same foods as I was.
Some people will put their children into childcare, this is another cost.
Where I live, medical attention for under 5's is free, but many people will have to pay for this as well.
Hope I haven't forgotten anything :)
Hope I helped!

What are the best baby monitors?

Peace*Love

I am looking for a new baby monitor and I need one for under $50. If its digital/video I can spend under $100. If you have any suggestions on good ones it would be so helpful!! thanks!

Answer
Ours cost us close to $100.00, but I absolutely loved it. We had the Angel Care Monitor, it had an alarm on it to let us know if our daughter stopped breathing. After 10 seconds of no movement, a quick beep would go off. If no movement for 20 seconds the complete alarm would go off. It was absolutely wonderful. I was able to sleep so much better knowing that an alarm would go off if my daughter stopped breathing at night while I was sleeping..

How to reset a Clearblue easry fertility monitor?

baby monitor 2 baby units image

reese

I just bought a Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor off of EBAY. Can someone please tell me how to reset it.

Answer
I also bought one off of ebay but luckly did not get a chance to use it but these are the instructions word for word that she sent me with mine! Hope it helps!

1. Remove the plastic cap from one end of a clean-unused-test-stick and snap the cap onto the other end of stick. Insert the test stick into the test stick slot of the monitor. The beveled corner on the insertion end of the stick must face in toward the monitor. THE STICK MUST SNAP INTO PLACE TO PERFORM PROPERLY. THE MONITOR SHOULD NOT BE TUNRED ON UNTIL STEP 2.

2. Press and hold the "M" button. Continue pressing the "M" button while turning the monitor on. NOTE: Do not take finger off the "M" button until these directions say to to do so in Step 5.

3. The screen will show the "remove the test stick" symbol(a flashing test stick with an arrow pointing right). Conitnue pressing "M".

4. Keep pressing the "M" button and in about 20 seconds, you will see a screen full of symbols. The screen will also display these symbols when you initially turn the montior on for the FIRST time. This indicates the memory is now cleared of all prior data.

5. Remove test stick first and then QUICKLY release your finger from the "M" button. The memory should now be cleared.

6. Your screen should display a flashing "M" and one or two dashes. If it does not, it will probably show a "1" and an "M" in a non-flashing mode. If so, you will need to repeat all steps of this process. This procedure may take several times before you successfully reset the unit to its"new" state.

7. Start using the monitor on CD 1 as per the instruction booklet.

HOPE THIS HELPS YOU AND BABY DUST TO YOU AND ALL TTC!!!!

What is the best and worst aspect of being a labor and delivery nurse?

Nurse Autu

I am a nursing student, and I am most interested in working in labor and delivery. I was just wondering what what the best and worst part of that unit is and if the burnout rate is high. I imagine the hardest part would be letting a baby go home with obviously unfit parents, and stillbirths. How often does this happen? How are you typically treated by patients? Do you HAVE to assist in circumcisions? In general could you just tell me anything you think would be helpful

Answer
I'm an LDRP nurse and I love it. I feel like I have the best job in the world. The best part of my job is being a part of the most important event in people lives. We get alot of feedback from our patients through patient call backs and surveys, and nothing makes my day like seeing a patient or patient family say that I made a difference. Just knowing that I made that family's birth experience a little more special is an awesome feeling.
I don't think the burnout rate is high, most nurses who work in this area are here because this is where they truly want to be and love what they do.
The hardest parts are the obvious, when we don't get a good baby, drug addicted moms, poor home situations etc., but also, dealing with some of the doctors can be difficult. This can be a very intense unit and the docs tend to be very intense and can be very difficult to deal with at times. As a nurse you need to know your stuff and be able to handle doctors when things aren't going as planned. Remember that every pregnant woman that comes through the door is 2 patients, the fact that we cannot see one of them makes it all the more important that we are experts at reading monitors and knowing signs and symptoms of something going wrong.
And, yes, if you work in a postpartum unit you will have to assist with circumcisions. It's not that bad, you just have to remove your personal feelings from the situation. I work midnights, so I don't have to do it often, docs do circs when they make rounds on day shift.
Labor/Delivery is not the kind of place you work because you think it might be fun to care for babies and be part of the birth experience. It's the kind of place either you "love it" or you "hate it". It takes a long time, alot of dedication and learning experiences before you can be good at it. Be sure it's what you want before you make that kind of decision.

I've heard that some end up in another city. I'm only 47 and I forget things a lot and it scares me.

Answer
You bring up a great question. Someone with Alzheimerâs should not be out wandering the streets, but it does happenâand it generally ends badly. Many nursing homes that serve the dementia population have monitoring systems in place, such as Wanderguard. These systems can also be used in the home environment. It may seem cruel to put a tracking bracelet on someone who isnât a criminal, but it goes a long way in assuring safety.

If you think your memory is weakening, thereâs a lot you can do to strengthen it. While it is unlikely you are currently experience early onset dementia, it wouldnât hurt to keep your mind limber. I recommend a video game called Brain Age. I actually wrote a blog on this a while back for Gilbert Guide, a resource for long-term care. Hereâs an excerpt:

âIn addition to detecting and improving the effects of Alzheimerâs, computerized games can also help keep middle-aged minds agile. Nintendo, a staple of my youth, has come up with a game called Brain Age. The company contends that using the game for only minutes a day and engaging in âcerebral workoutsâ can stimulate the mind enough to actually decrease oneâs âbrain age.â All you need is a Nintendo DS to jump right in and start reading literary classics aloud, solving math problems and drawing from memory, just to name a few tasks. The game was founded in Japan, released as âDr. Kawashimaâs Brain Training: How Old Is Your Brain?â in Europe and released in the US as âBrain Ageâ in April of 2006. Some skeptics have asserted that improvement in Sudoku is hardly an indication of oneâs capacity to better conduct activities of daily living. One thing is certainâmarketing to baby boomers and seniors is a smart move for a company with vast competition in targeting the teen market.â

If you donât see yourself playing video games to strengthen your memory, try sudoku. A little mental challenge goes a long way!

I hope this information helps,

What kind of games can be played at a 3 y/o girls bday party?

*sexy moch

my friend is giving his 3 y/o daughter a party for her bday and he needs some ideas on games that they can play and I am clueless. Isn't that why they invented chuck e cheese? LOL!
I actually think she is too younf for all of that but thats just my opinion.

Answer
Chuck E Cheese's is not a bad idea but you dont want the big rat to scare some of the kids. Good games for three year olds consist of things that kids that age already know how to do. Like: Pin the Tail on the Donkey(or whatever animal chosen), Hot Potatoe, , musical Chairs, Hitting a Pianta, Freeze Tag or Tag You're It, Red Light, Green Light, Stop, Dance Contest (everyone can win), have a Sak race, have a Running race, Balls for catching and kicking,Finger painting, Face painting(done by adults) Let them string beads and make lengthy chain, necklaces or bracelets and The Hokey Pokey. She can also go to a near by department store and find Whoola Hoops, Bowling Ball sets, Twister for Kids(they just made one), Golf sets, Baseball sets and other games that are similar. Three year old babies do not like scheduled birthday parties. Having games(monitored by adults) or Toys (sharing- monitored by adults) that cause them to run and play is good enough for them. My daughters party was a blast. The kids at good played until they were tired and most of all went to sleep after such a good time. Tell your friend to think of the things that her daughter likes to do and expand on that because most three year olds like a lot of the same things. Giving them options, allows everyone to be satified especially the kids and no one is left out. The best thing is that these games and activites are in expensive. These are just a few ideas I have used with my own child and children I work with in the daycare. Best wishes-MD

How can I improve my signal strength with a 900mhz wireless video baby monitor?

dcigary

We recently purchased a wireless video baby monitor, and although it does work, there is significant interference in the signal due to my computer room with several PC's and servers. Is there a way to boost this signal to compensate for the interference, or to set up a repeater for the signal?

Answer
If you have interference any sort of repeater or amplifier will only repeat and / or amplify the interference (noise) along with the desired transmission (signal). The problem is likely a signal to noise ratio problem and interference.

I presume you have done all you can with repositioning the units to make them closer together without getting closer to the interference. If not try that

With the electronic interference it becomes even more difficult to address. A baby monitor is nothing more than a microphone in the baby's room and a speaker in the monitoring room linked wirelessly. Can you use a wired system? This may be your only practical choice. Perhaps a 5 MHz

I've had a headache all day, and I want it gone :( but I can't swallow pills and I already took baby asprin in the morning, and I took some liquid childrens medicine almost two hours ago. but it still won't go away. it's at bay right now, like it doesn't hurt as much but it's still bothering me a lot. and I can feel it like behind my right eye. and tips or remedies are appreciated. thanks in advance!

Answer
IHave you seen an orthodontist/dentist to be examined for TMJ/TMD. Tension stress from your TM joint in your jaw can make you sickly with migraines if out of place even a smidge.I got it from a jolt to my head and the tmj muscles stretched out causing sickening headaches, face pain and ear aches. Please check even with your doctor about it.

Many things can trigger a HEADACHES/MIGRAINES: using your arm in an awkward way (bowling) when you don't normally do that, lack of food (skipping meals), head resting in a hairdressers sink, going to a concert with light show, video game screen with fast movements & flashing lights, staring in the light (sun) constantly on your eyes...etc.

You may want to check your settings on all your digital items that you are using. Each device you use has a warning that MANY COMPLETELY IGNORE. Go under your settings for your screen settings on your computer, laptops, televisions, monitors, digital games, etc. AND LOWER THE BRIGHTNESS ON THE SCREEN.

Also, don't forget that all these items are a heat source and depending on how close you are to the item you are using, you are affecting your personal body sources. (ie. flickering lights affect the eyes, laptops on laps affect fluids. etc.)

You may be completely dehydrated if you aren't drinking adequates amounts of water daily. Here's a guide to help you figure out how much water you require daily for your weight.

? Your Weight Times (.5) Equals Divided By 8oz (or 1 Cup) Equals # Cups of Water/Day

⢠150lbs x .5 = 75/8 = 9 Cups of Water/day
⢠175lbs x .5 = /8 = 11 Cups of Water/day
⢠200lbs x .5 = 100/8 = 12.5 Cups Water/day

If you take your medication with an extra caffeine drink, it will hit your system faster, but that only means enough to swallow the medication and wash it down. It does not mean drink an entire can or you will suffer from extreme caffeine withdrawal (rebound migraines).

1. I used to use a combination of medications which included 400mg Ibuprofen 4x a day with food. This takes the swelling and inflammation down. DO NOT exceed1600mg in one day and you may need prilosec for stomach protection as ALL ANTI INFLAMMATORIES are difficult on the stomach. ***You can use Tylenol with Ibuprofen and Aspirin watch for daily maximums & don't exceed.

2. Robaxacet is Tylenol (acetominophen) combined with methocarbonal (muscle relaxant)...this also comes with codeine on request from the pharmacist. This only relaxes any tight muscles around the pain and helps reduce some pain. You can use Robaxacet with Ibuprofen and Aspirin, BUT NOT Tylenol as it's already an ingredient in this pill.

3. Robaxacyl is Aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) combines with methocarbonal (muscle relaxant)...this has a blood thinning active ingredient and isn't ideal for anyone under age 16 years or complications with blood pressure, ailments, etc. This both takes down the inflammation as well as treats the pain. You can use Robaxacyl with Ibuprofen and Tylenol, BUT NOT Aspirin as it's already an ingredient in this pill.
------------------------------...
4. Aleve is a Nonsteroidal Anti Inflammatory (Naproxen) which will helps reduce the inflammation, and as the inflammation decreases so does the pain; BUT you CANNOT mix this drug with any of the above mentioned safely.

5. Dynamint has been used on horses legs for years, but it does an amazing job on sore neck muscles. It's ingredients are Peppermint Oil, Eucalyptus Oil , Tea Tree Oil and Calendula Oil.

6. Deep Cold Gold is an alternative rub that works very well on tight aching tendons on your upper shoulders, neck and TMJ joints.

When I was 16 years old I had severe tension headaches that made the ligament behind my ear pop out like a big ole bump. The doctor prescribed a low dose of Elavil (amitryptaline) & it was gone within days. The Elavil in high doses is used for depression but they use it for car accidents because it relaxes the muscles from whiplash.

If you experience a headache with ANY LOSS OF WEAKNESS, SLURRING, IMBALANCE or FEVER, then you need to seek medical attention immediately for a consult to make sure there isn't something more serious going on.

Why are environmentalists going crazy over the new form of mining?

Maddie

I forget what it's called but they blow up the rocks waaaaay under the earth's surface to find oil somehow, and then they just collect it.. But environmentalists are going crazy because it affects the ecosystem
(which is false, it's a mile underground and can't hurt anything)

Answer
Some people respond more to political rhetoric and not factual information. They lack the ability (or motivation) to think critically.

1. Deep-well hydraulic fracturing does not travel far enough through the rock to affect or harm fresh-water supplies. Millions of fracturing jobs and thousands of field-monitoring tests have confirmed this.

2. Statistically, the chance of even minor water contamination from fracturing chemicals in properly constructed deep wells is less than 1 in 1 million. This is documented in various studies.

3. The height of any fracture produced by hydraulic fracturing is limited by natural lithostatic, hydrostatic, and tectonic stresses, as well as frac barriers formed by overlying layers of rock with different geomechanical properties so the typical fracture height is 100-300 feet above the wellbore.

4. It has been standard practice in the industry for decades to line well bores with heavy steel pipe which is cemented around the outside of the pipe. This pipe is placed and cemented to depths that go deeper than any freshwater aquifer in the area (this is the law in most places) before any deeper drilling takes place, especially any deeper drilling that is expected to encounter oil and gas.

5. Water contamination due to spilled industrial chemicals occurs rarely, but is always associated with accidents related to road transport, leaks of on-site surface storage, or during mixing and well construction phases. These failings are already regulated, in fact in the US these come under the full jurisdiction of the Environmental Protection Agency and do not have any exemptions from the Clean Water Act.

6. In the deep wells typical of shale gas no documented examples of chemical contamination from hydraulic fracturing have been found (except for surface spills at the well site or during transport).

7. Hydraulic fracturing has not been documented to increase the presence of methane (a harmless non-toxic gas that has no odor and must reach 5% concentrations to be ignited). Poor well construction from any type of well, including a hydraulically fractured well, a conventional oil well, or even a deep water well can cause methane contamination of shallow fresh-water aquifers. Most cases of methane in fresh water aquifers are the result of biogenic methane bacteria, and/or drawdown of water pressure in the water well that allows the methane that was already there to come out of solution and be desorbed from surrounding rock. Shallow coals and thin shales found in aquifer rocks are often the source of this methane and not associated with oil and gas drilling. High pressure air-drilling is sometimes used by the oil industry, as well as the water well drilling industry, and this can stir up sediment and activate bacteria in shallow fresh water zones. More care in this type of drilling would be appropriate.

8. Chemical disclosure of well fracturing fluids is already required by law in the United States and is not inappropriate. Full disclosure is required by OSHA and MSDS sheets are required by law to be available at the well site. Most states and oil and gas drillers are now disclosing these chemicals on public websites.

9. The first fracturing job took place in 1947. It is a little late to get upset about it now because nearly 90% of the wells drilled in the world use some application of this process. Nor is shale gas something new- the first shale gas well was drilled in Fredonia, New York in 1821. Shale fracturing research was first begun in the public sector by the US Department of Energy in the 1970's.

10. Most of the chemicals used in a typical fracturing job are found in your kitchen and bathroom. Polyacrimide is used in baby diapers and as a flocculant in public water treatment plants that process your drinking water. Glutaraldehyde can be found in hospitals, and household disinfectants. Ozone and chlorine dioxide are used in municipal water supplies to disinfect your drinking water. Ozone is also emitted by your laser printer. Phosphonate is found in detergents and used as a medical treatment for bone problems. Surfactants are nothing more than a technical name for dish soap. These are the five most commonly used chemicals in a frac job.

11. Fluid forced into the well that is not part of the flow-back water is never coming back. Shales are dessicated when they have generated gas and oil and the water is chemically bound to the shale. It is not coming out of the rock- it is now part of the rock.

12. The radioactivity of shale and water coming back out of a shale is well below Federal safety thresholds. Surface rocks such as granite are probably more likely to have dangerous levels of radioactivity than shales (and this is why I will not live in a house with a granite counter top).

Here is a well written paper explaining more about hydraulic fracturing:http://www.kgs.ku.edu/PRS/Fracturing/Frac_Paper_SPE_152596.pdf

How much does a baby Red Eared Slider Turtle eat?

baby monitor using tablet on Le Guide Musical: Revue Internationale De La Musique Et De Thetres ...
baby monitor using tablet image

Desiree

My son was given a baby turtle 2 weeks ago by a friend, i have never had to take care of a turtle before. I have only seen Donatello eat 3 times since we got him. He runs around and swims all day so he is not acting like he is depressed or sick. Just wondering how often he is suppose to eat.

Answer
Red eared sliders are very common turtles and do make great pets!

Your turtle will always be begging for food. Red-Eared sliders have a voracious appetite. This will depend a bit on your individual turtle. A good rule of thumb is to feed as much as your turtle will consume in 15 minutes. If you feed in a separate container, it is easier to monitor how much and how fast your turtle eats. It is important to offer a variety of foods at the same time -- don't just give your turtle its favorite items.

As an alternative guideline, another common "rule of thumb" is to give meals that are roughly the same size (in total volume) as the turtle's head and neck. Still, you'll need to monitor your turtle's body condition and adjust if necessary.

Keep in mind, that if you are feeding strictly by these rules, feeding every day might be too much, and every two or three days might be too little. You will likely need to adjust the amount you give your turtle. The best guide is to monitor your turtle's weight and condition, and with a little experience you will get to know better how much your turtle can eat and stay in good condition. You also do not want to let juvenile turtles grow too quickly. If a growing turtle gets too fat or grows too quickly it can cause bone and joint problems

To ensure proper nutrition, strong growth and a healthy long-lived turtle, feed a varied diet to both adults and juveniles. Just remember that adults eat less animal protein and more vegetable matter. Juveniles must be fed every day; adults can be fed once every two to three days. Do not feed more than they can eat; the excess food will go to waste and foul the water. Feed a combination of the following foods:

Commercial diets (No more than 25% of total diet)
Trout Chow, commercial floating fish, reptile or turtle food (pellets, sticks or tablets). The pellets and sticks have the advantage of being formulated specifically for reptiles and don't decompose in the water as fast as other foods.

Animal Protein (No more than 25% of total diet)
Live feeder fish--do not feed defrosted frozen fish; they are deficient in thiamin and excess consumption will cause a thiamin deficiency in your turtle. Earthworms--buy them from a reptile or aquarium store; do not feed the ones from your yard as they may contain bacteria, parasites and pesticides against which your turtle has no immunity. Finely chopped raw lean beef, beef heart and cooked chicken are okay for treats, but are not appropriate as a major part of a balanced diet for whole prey eaters. High quality dog kibble can be offered occasionally as treats, too; like muscle meat, dog and cat foods are not appropriate when used as a significant portion of a turtle's diet.

Plant Matter (50% or more of total diet)
Offer leaves of dark leafy greens such as collard, mustard and dandelion greens. Offer shredded carrots (and carrot tops), squash and green beans. Fruit can be offered raw; shred hard fruits like apples and melons, chopping soft fruits such as berries. To help keep their beak in trim, let them gnaw on pieces of cantaloupe with the (well washed) rind still attached.

Vitamin Supplements should be added twice a week. Use a good reptile or turtle multivitamin. Turtles must also be supplied with additional calcium; they often enjoy taking bites out of calcium blocks and gnawing on cuttlebone, so always have some available to them.

Can metformin cause me to have a miscarriage or affect me getting pregnant?

Scorpio Ch

My doctor recommended me to use Metformin to try and regulate my periods which would make me ovulate more regularly and hopefully help me get pregnant. But now I'm wondering if it could be doing the total opposite. I'm getting my periods every month, but I haven't been able to get pregnant. I've been on it for about 6 months.

Answer
I would ask my doctor to put me on Clomid. I have heard so much more about that one and the success stories are plentiful. Of course if your periods are very regular, then it is doing what it is supposed to do.

PREGNANCY
While safety during pregnancy has not yet been established, three patients who continued on metformin during their entire pregnancy and one who remained on a glitazone have delivered normal babies. There are no reports of abnormal babies in women who conceived using metformin and all resulting babies were normal. Metformin is a category B medication. This means that insufficient human data is available but no credible animal data suggesting a teratogenic (could produce birth defects) risk. Although to the best of our present knowledge the risk of birth defects would be small, it must also be noted that maternal diabetes has been associated with an increased risk of birth defects and the underlying elevated insulin levels may lead to birth defects if not corrected.

While the most prudent policy may be to avoid the use of these medications during pregnancy until more data on pregnancy outcome is available, the risk of miscarriage may be reduced by continuing metformin during the pregnancy. We ask our PCOS patients taking insulin-lowering medications to monitor their basal body temperatures if pregnancy is a possibility. When the temperature remains elevated for more than 16 days, pregnancy is likely and a home pregnancy test should be performed. If positive, a medical consultation with the physician is scheduled. If the EPT is negative the BBT chart is reviewed by the physician or nurse to determine the appropriate course to follow. Patients should discontinue contact their physician if they are on Avandamet, Actos, or Avandia to receive instructions. Generally, patients taking these medications will be switched to metformin.

Another Source:
There are several possible ways to attempt ovulation induction in women with polycystic ovaries. The easiest and least complicated method is the use of Clomid tablets, also called Serophene, or clomiphene citrate.

Many will be able to get pregnant using clomiphene to induce ovulation. For women that do not ovulate with clomiphene, the "traditional" next step has been to use injectable gonadotropins. About 90% of women that do not ovulate with clomiphene will ovulate with this medication and the majority will get pregnant as well. However, these medications are expensive and there are risks of ovarian hyperstimulation and multiple pregnancy involved. The daily injections and trips to the office for monitoring are also somewhat inconvenient for most women.

A relatively new method of treating ovulation problems in women with polycystic ovarian syndrome is to use an oral medication called metformin (brand name is Glucophage) with or without clomiphene citrate. Metformin has been used in the past as an oral agent to help control diabetes. Recently, it has been found to facilitate ovulation in some women with PCOS. Some women who do not ovulate after taking metformin will be able to ovulate when taking metformin in combination with clomiphene. Therefore using metformin would be a benefit to some women with polycystic ovarian syndrome by allowing them to potentially avoid the injectable FSH medications (if they prefer this approach).

baby monitor app for ipad image

Spar

Well long story short, I'm scaring my friend. She's my neighbor and I live in the house next to her. Basically I need something that can make noises and can be controlled from another place. I considered a baby monitor (too expensive), or some kind of walkie talkie (probably not loud enough). If there is an app or something I have an iPad or iPod touch I could leave there. There is wifi there and the house next door is within less than 10 yards away so if its some kind of radio, i can here it.
@zachary I would leave it in her closet or attic since her roommate is in on it she could help and make sure she wouldn't break it

Answer
I wouldn't leave an iPhone/Pad outside... If you have a friend or something that you can borrow a home theater system from, you could put one of the speakers outside facing the other house and control the volume and sounds from inside with the amplifier.

to listen to some one or something without getting in trouble

Answer
In most (all?) states, it is against the law to record someone's voice without their consent. It is immoral to eavesdrop on people like this. A homologous situation is with cell phone cameras; all are required to make an audible click whenever a photo is taken because of concerns of people taking pictures of up women's skirts or in public restrooms and locker rooms.

Have you ever eavesdropped on someone's conversation?

ticktock

If so, was it worth it.... or do you wish you hadn't?

Answer
One time my husband had a friend over and we had been arguing really bad, sooooo.... I took the baby monitor and hooked it up out where they were just to see if he would say something bad about me. He never did so I felt stupid for doing it, lol.

If you speed is dropping then it is nothing to do with how long you have been connected it must be down to another problem.

Generic advice for improving wif reception [you give no info on the router or what device you are connecting with]

To start with the basic rule is to position the wifi router as high and as centrally as possible in your house.

1] Try changing the broadcast channel from the wireless setup interface for your router/modem.You can normally access this by typing "http://192.168.0.1/" into your browsers search bar and then look for the wireless settings menu.
You don't say if your router can use the 5GHz frequency or just the 2.4GHz. The best channels in the 2.5GHz spectrum are 1,6, 11, or 13 as they have less overlap with the other channels.

There is a useful article here about how to get the best performance by selecting the best channel.: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/21132/chaâ¦

If you have an android smarthphone, or a friend does, then install the Wifi Analyzer app free from android market and use it to scan for the best channel and change your routers broadcast channel accordingly. This app will aslo show you all the wifi signals in range that your neighbours are using, so you can select a different channel to them, making a stronger signal for you. https://market.android.com/details?id=coâ¦

2] You can use a tool like Nirsofts totally free WirelessNet View to look at all the local wireless signals that are within range and may be competing with your own router and interfering with reception. from here: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/wireless_neâ¦

3] You can buy a Wi-Fi booster like D-Link 645 Smartbeam, here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/D-Link-DIR-645-Wâ¦
Devices such as these can actually boost the wifi signal by using multiple beams that bounce of the walls and are intelligently directed toward whatever device [smarhphone, laptop, tablet] you are using on wifi.

4] If your using the 2.4GHz frequency and not the 5GHz then other devices that use this frequency band can alsso interfere with your reception [eg baby monitors and microwave ovens use 2.4GHz]. Try and make sure that none of these devices are situated between your router and your wifi receiver eg laptop, tablet, smarthphone etc

Why is my internet so much slower on my laptop?

Danny G

I'm with virgin, both my computer & my laptop are connected to my via wireless connection. But my laptop gets but a small fraction of the speed my computer does.

Any ideas on how to sort this out?

Answer
I assume that although you say both the laptop and desktop use a wifi connection that they are not situated in the same place. It is likely that the signal strength will vary in different positions in your house. If the router supports the latest draft n wifi standards and so does the wifi adapter in your desktop then check that your laptops adapted supports 8011n too. If it only supports earlier wifi standards like 8011.g then this is much slower and the reason for the difference.

If the wifi chip in the laptop also supports the 8011n wifi standard then there are several things that can affect wifi signal and things you can do to try and improve things

To start with the basic rule is to position the router as high and as centrally as possible in your house.

1] Try changing the broadcast channel from the wireless setup interface for your router/modem.You can normally access this by typing "http://192.168.0.1/" into your browsers search bar and then look for the wireless settings menu.

Has anyone used a video baby monitor?

Pregnant w

How do they work?
What are the pros and cons?
I am thinking about buying one that you can have two monitors and see two rooms at once and was wondering how many people prefer it.

Answer
Congrats on baby #2!

I couldn't live with out my video monitor!! I have the Summer Infant Day & Night Handheld Color Video Monitor. The picture is so clear both at night and during the day. I love being able to check on my baby with out waking her. I don't even have to get out of bed unless she really needs me! I think if I only had the audio, I would have been getting up a lot more often to investigate every sound, especially during the first few months. The handheld part has a button on top so you can turn off the video screen if the light bothers you at night. Then if you hear something you feel you need to check on, simply click the button and the video comes back on. I read the reviews for this product. Many people say they could not get a signal. I never had a problem. I also read that they can interfere with wi-fi. My husband is a web developer... he never would have allowed wi-fi interference!

I highly recommend this monitor to all my friends. The only con I can think of is that I have had to change the channel due to static. Seriously, it's a flick of a button and I've had to do it maybe 3 times in 7 months. No biggie! I know you can get an extra camera for this monitor, but I don't need one yet. Here is what one person commented: "We bought a second camera to go with the monitor we already had. I love being able to switch back and forth between my two kids' rooms. Only issue is if the monitor is too close to one camera, you can have interference when trying to check on the other one."

Hope this helps.

ROBLOX

I need to know if there is possible ANY way to make it so I can use wifi on it. I just bought a desktop computer and just assumed it used wifi. But it needs an ethernet cable...... Problem is there is only one of those ports in the house and that is the living room. I can't put it there because my mother won't allow it. So I need to know if there is anyway I can make it wifi. I would really appreciate it.

Answer
It is easy to add WiFi to a desktop. You can get a wireless adapter for your desktop PC, they are very inexpensive. Many are under 10 bucks. http://www.amazon.com/s/?_encoding=UTF8&tag=excharge-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957&field-keywords=wireless%20adapter%20for%20desktop&url=search-alias%3Daps&sprefix=wireless%20a%2Caps%2C377 There are two types, the easiest is a USB that just plugs in, the other is a card that involves opening the PC and installing in a card slot.

Unless you specifically need a wireless connection, I would not recommend it especially for a fixed device such as a desktop PC.

Wireless signals are affected by many factors including distance, wall density, electrical interference, directional antenna range, etc.

Wireless connection quality also varies and there is overhead involved in the transfer such as the encryption and decryption of the data used for wireless security.

You should try to centrally locate your wireless router or gateway up high and away from dense walls and electrical and 2.4 GHz wireless interference such as microwave ovens, cordless phones, baby monitors, etc.

For serious gaming or video streaming your best bet is a direct Ethernet connection. Ethernet is unaffected by wireless interference and will give you a rock solid, stable network connection.

If it is not feasible to run Ethernet cable your next best option is to use powerline network adapters. I wrote a review here: http://isp1.us/reviews/netgear-xavb2101-powerline-adapter/

Good Luck...

Is there a way to detect if someone is using a wifi jammer?

Reprobate

My internet has been out for three weeks. There have been brief periods when it's working 100% on all devices. I've changed routers three times - same problem with each one. Cable provider has been out - they say all good on their end. I had the Geek Squad out too, but they arrived during one of those brief periods when everything was working.

Could someone be jamming my wifi? I just Googled wifi jammers and apparently they exist because I came across a web page that sells them.

Is there a way to detect if someone's using one in my area?

Answer
You can download an application called a WiFi Sniffer. This will show you all the wireless networks available in your area, and include more detailed information than your OS will tell you. I've used NetStumbler and Xirrus WiFi Inspector. They should tell you what network you are connected to and what channel your router is on. Next look to see if there are any other networks in the area on the same channel. If so, you could be experiencing co-channel interference. This happens when wireless devices (such as router and access points) are in the same area and operate on the same channel. Change your channel to lesser used channel (1,6, or 11) with a weaker signal. If your devices support 5 GHz, you might also try that.

Also, there are other devices that operate in same frequency band as most WiFi devices. These include microwave ovens, cordless phone, and baby monitors. The Sniffers only work with WiFi devices, it won't tell you about nonWiFi interference sources. There is hardware and software that will do that, but it has a high price tag.

I doubt someone has a WiFi jammer. If they did, its possibly illegal (subject to local laws). In the US, the 2.4 GHz range is unlicensed, and while a device operating on that frequency IS required to accept any signal, you may NOT operate a device with intention of causing interference. If I had to bet, its interference from nearby sources, check the WiFi scanners I suggested.

Can your neighbors listen in on your phone conversations with a baby monitor ?

baby monitor 900mhz image

Lady

If you're on your cordless phone in your home? I've heard that its possible for neighbors with baby monitors to do this to their neighbors, and I wouldn't think this would work, unless my cordless phone acts as a monitor.

Answer
It's possible if the phone and the monitors work in the same broadcast frequency.

Most do not, however. Modern cordless phones operate in the 2.4ghz wavelength, and older ones operate in the 900mhz wavelength (the newest ones operate in the 5.2ghz wavelength, but don't worry about those).

Most baby monitors work in the 300-900mhz wavelength, so a few of them *can* pick up on older cordless phones, but those that do are few and far between... especially becase every phone and monitor is coded to only pick up a very specific frequency around their specified range... so crosstalk is less likely.

listen to other cell phone conversations with a device?

collegegrl

how is it possible to pick up cell phone conversations with a device, or a baby monitor.

Answer
Only analog cell phone conversations can be intercepted with a scanner. And almost no one has analog phones anymore. The newer CDMA or GSM phones use digital encoding techniques that prevent the casual listener from intercepting the conversations.

Baby monitors will NEVER overhear cell-phone conversations. Baby monitors operate at 900MHz or 2.4GHz; cell phones do NOT operate in those frequencies. However, home cordless phones DO operate in those frequencies, and these are the conversations that are often overheard by baby monitors. Newer cordless phones use the same digital encoding used by cell phones, so a new phone won't be overheard by a baby monitor.

How to become a neonatal nurse?

I know I have to take a few years in math and science but do I need a high school diploma? Is it ok that I have a GED? What's undergraduate college, also? I love taking care of newborns and babies! I just feel a bond with each baby I hold and I know I could be a great NICU nurse. I have a daughter and when she was in the NICU, there were a few nurses who, in my opinion, didn't meet the qualifications in becoming a neonatal nurse. I feel that you should have compassion and care for each patient. Not just the ones in dire need. Every patient deserves equal treatment. My daughter didn't really get that. I know I'd be the perfect nurse, I just need to know what I have to do.

Answer
You can go to college with only a GED. I did.
Undergrad refers to your first college degree - for a nurse that would be a Bachelor of Nursing Science. But there are also Associates degrees for RNs as well. . . but to be a neonatal nurse you will want to get the full BSN degree, because most hospitals will prefer grads that hold this degree over the Assoc.
A BSN is a full 4 year degree. You start off by taking pre-requisite courses in science (biology, chemistry, anatomy & physiology, microbiology, etc.), and some other general education courses like English Composition, psychology, developmental psych, arts/humanities, electives, etc. You usually spend your first two years working on these courses and then once you meet your school's admission requirements for the nursing major then it's a separate application process to get accepted to the nursing program. It's highly competitive, no matter what school or degree path you choose, so expect that you'll need to keep a high GPA - a 3.0 is probably the minimum most programs accept, but you'd want to keep it higher than a 3.5 or even a 3.75 to be competitive and increase your chances at admission on the first try. Once you get accepted to the nursing major, you take about 2 years of nursing courses. Once you graduate, you are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN, which is the exam which earns you the title / license of Registered Nurse.

Nursing programs educate you on how to take care of all kinds of patients. There are no neonatal-specific programs until you get to the graduate school level (Masters degree or Doctorate degree) and those are Neonatal Nurse Practitioner programs. In your general RN program you learn skills that apply to all patient populations. You will do some clinical rotations in a maternal-newborn setting so you will have some experience assessing and caring for healthy newborns.

Usually 'neonatal nurse' is not referring to nurses who care for healthy, full-term newborns. Neonatal nursing usually refers to nurses who work in NICU or a Level II (Special Care, or step-down NICU) unit. Maybe you already knew that. . . but I see a lot of people on here who think the term neonatal nurse refers to caring for the healthy newborn and while technically neonatal does mean 'newborn', in the medical world we usually use it for the critical care aspect.

Caring for babies in the NICU or a Special Care unit is not about you holding and giving attention to the babies. You are there to keep these babies alive; to monitor their condition, to educate the parents on how to care for their baby themselves. You are NOT supposed to be holding, cuddling, and 'loving up' these babies, because premature and critically ill newborns need as little stimulation as possible because it can delay their growth and healing by causing them stress. And the stimulation they do get should be limited; that's why cares are clustered and the babies are left alone to rest. We also don't want the babies to bond with the nursing staff. We want the parents to be the ones they bond to, so we want the parents to be actively involved in caring for their babies.

I'm not sure what kind of negative experience you had in the NICU with your child, but I hope that you understand that the role of the nurse is not to substitute for a mother's love and trying to bond with someone else's child. Nurses have a very specific job to do, and there are good reasons why they aren't constantly holding and cuddling and showering your baby with attention and affection. Nurses can still be compassionate and loving while doing their jobs appropriately and limiting unnecessary physical contact with the newborn.

What percentage of long term prisoners have resorted to homosexual activity ?

Phil A

Not that they are gay, but sex with the same sex.
I have heard it's well over 25%, is that true ?

Answer
More to the point my potentially naive young friend, what percentage of homosexual men; prisoners or otherwise were sexually & emotionally abused as children. I've heard even the sickest of people including women, transexuals and unfortunate freaks.. were all babies once upon their lifetime.. not so sure about you but that qualifies for a moment's thought & reflection on how much a misguided attitude can send you down an unkown path. I'll identify as a 28year old Australian caucasian male & I'm straight ie. I've discovered over time that I am not attracted to blokes in that way.. I've got great friends of all kinds but yeah no trannies though I have met a couple out & about.. J

*I'm not sure why I blindly chose to answer this question.. truth is buddy im not sure why you'd want or need to know about this kind of subject matter.. hey man choose an easier path if u can. *UPDATED & edited

For example, one of the largest jails in the United States is Cook County Jail in Cook County (located in Chicago). This facility has eleven different divisions, including one medical unit and two units for women prisoners, with each of the eleven divisions operating at a different security level, ranging from dormitory-style open housing to super-secure lock-down.

American prisons and jails held 2,297,400 inmates in 2009.[6] Approximately one in every 18 men in the United States is behind bars or being monitored

The non-governmental organization Human Rights Watch raised concerns with prisoner rape and medical care for inmates.[37] In a survey of 1,788 male inmates in Midwestern prisons by Prison Journal, about 21% claimed they had been coerced or pressured into sexual activity during their incarceration, and 7% claimed that they had been raped in their current facility.[

for my baby shower. In other words, what will I not be able to live without. So far, I have:

high chair
travel system
breast pump
baby monitor
safety gate
thermometer

diapers and wipes go without saying but I don't think people actually register for them.

Answer
well, u can go to babies r us website and they have a list for ppl who are going to register..of course it has a lot of things on there that you don't need, but if you weed through you can get what you need out of it...the things i liked;found most useful, etc......

.i would def recommend:
a diaper genie 2; idk why ppl don't like them, there is NO smell in my dd 's room
changing table..will save your back, good for diap changes, clothes changes, sponge baths, etc and you have shelves to store your new baby must haves....i have canvas bins on the shelves to store things that are good to have in reach or easily available...
monitor--i like the graco imonitor, recently bought a second one for another room in the house bc i liked the other one so much, it has been working well for over 8 mos now, and it has good range, battery life, and i can hear EVERYTHING; never any interference....it works great..
boppy pillow with cotton covers, soft ones don't fit as well for some reason
lots of baby hangers, and baby hangers with clips to keep outfits together
primo euro bathtub
prince lionheart diaper depot and wipewarmer; ours works well and the wipes are still very warm when we get them to out dd's bottom; and she doesn't freak out when we are out and they aren't warmed, but seems to appreciate it when they are..
health kit: brush, comb, thermometer (not an ear one, not as accurate), nail clippers, etc.
baby meds, generic is just as good and a lot cheaper...desitin(or plain zinc oxide if you can find it)..not creamy, has less zinc ox in it....infant mylicon and tylenol
lots of diapers , make sure wherever you buy them will let you exchange them for a diff size if you need to even after the return period...brus let me do that, and buy a small pack of a couple brands to see which you prefer before you open the big boxes...wipes, lots of them, without alcohol or fragrance! we use swaddlers diapers and pampers sensitive wipes; no rashes, no reactions to their ingredients, diapers hold a lot when they have too and the netting tends to keep the wet off her bottom...
lots of baby washclothes, you may have to use them on baby's bum if it is really sensitive and gets a rash....and baby towels, but you could use your reg towels if money is an issue

swing, pref swings two ways and plugs in instead of batteries
bouncy seat
infant travel system! easy, easy, easy--we got the graco tour deluxe; it is great, folds with one hand, several seating positions, lays flat for sleep; has a big basket underneath and cup holders for mom and dad, one for baby , place for snacks for baby, and a 'pocket' up top for keys, cell phone, whatever you wanna put there...
play yard, get one with bassinet feature if you want to, easier to keep baby in your room for a while before putting them in crib in their room=we have chicco discovery and it is awesome, has more padding than most, easy to wash..machine wash, most are wipe down...very sturdy, has nightlight, vibration, etc and a flip up change table, has wooden slats that slide in under mattress for support...not that much more exp than the others and much better in my opinion
passys--she loves soothies and that is all she will take..
baby wash, again frag free, dye free
frag free , dye free laundry detergent
clothes hamper or basket
lingerie bag for socks, mittens, anything little so they don't get lost in the wash...
something to put baby toys in
extra toy links
lullaby cd and small cd player; my dd has come to love white noise, she naps with a fan and a womb bear; sleeps at night with a fan....
oh, mosquito cover for your infant carrier..it's where you can see in , baby can see out, but strangers cant just walk up and touch your baby, and they will!!!!!
all i can come up with now...LOL
diaper bags; big one for everything you may need, leave in car unless you will be somewhere a long time, and a small one to stick what you will need for a short run in so you don't have to haul the bigger one

if ffing:
avent formula dispenser; has better review than the ones made by sassy, and convert to a snack cup later...i loved it so much i bought a second one!
bottles--really liked playtex ventaire advanced when she was young, more pieces but it's easy to get them clean when the top and bottom comes off...and they vent through the bottom instead of the nip so no bubbles or foam going back up into baby's milk; they will leak if you don't put them together correctly, but we have had no probs with them and have never had to replace any parts on them..if u decide on them and have leaks, email me and i will explain how to keep them from leaking...:O)
bottle and nip brushes--i really like the ones by munchking that don't have a sponge on the end of the brush, they come in diff colors mixed with white and have a great nip brush in the handles....
drying racks--again, i really like munchkins...
formula mixer: i like dr brown's formula pitcher bc you don't shake it it is only abo

Based on your actual experience, what is the best baby video monitor for sale?

April H

I've heard so many different, mixed reviews. I'm mostly concerned about them not working with our wireless network (which I don't know how to tweak). If anyone has a good one that works well with a wireless network that doesn't cost TONS of money, please pass on the info. Thanks!

Answer
What do you mean working with wireless network? Most baby monitors are wireless, but they donât connect to a modem. Do you just mean without a cord or actually hooked up to a computer? I have been using Summer Infant Hand Held Video baby monitor for 6 month now and canât complain. It sees at night and has color. The monitor is hand held so you can carry it with you where you want to. At first the battery would last 3-4 days now it lasts 2 days, then you have to recharge, but it can be on when charging. I got mine on eBay at half the cost. If you still donât have your baby and donât need one ASAP. Start looking for deals. I got ours 2 month before the baby was born but it took me 4 weeks to get the deal I wanted.
Iâm also using a wireless connection on my laptop and there is no interference with the monitor, itâs working perfectly fine. Also it does NOT pick up cell phones, radios or other babies.
