I have a question about baby monitors...?

iluvmygirl

I have a two year old and i have a video monitor in her room, ABSOLUTELY love it. Now i'm having baby number two and want to get another one. Is there a monitor that i can by that has a split screen monitor or am i going to have to get two? I'm totally ok with having to buy a new one for my toddler. I know if you have two cameras some will let you switch from camera to camera, but i want one i can watch both the kids on. any ideas?? thanks :-)

Answer
I don't know if this would work, and this is sort of a hack, but what if you took an oscillating fan (like the kind that move back and forth), removed the fan blade (not hard to do on most - just take the clips off the "cage" part and unscrew what's holding the blade on), and then duct-taped the monitor or something to hold the monitor onto that, and it would continually pan back and forth so you could see both?

How do I clean my LCD computer monitor that has anti glare coating?

tallsnuke

While sitting in front of my monitor, I accidentally splashed a few spots of water on the monitor. The spots dried before I noticed them and now I am unable to remove them. I have tried wiping the area with the cloth that came with my LCD television but that has not helped. I have not tried any products out of fear of damaging the screen. The water spots have become unsightly and I would like to remove them. It appears as though the anti glare coating is why I am unable to remove the water spots. Please help.

Answer
A mild solution of dish detergent and water. When I say mild...I mean 1 part detergent to 5 parts water. Use a soft cotton towel. Baby diapers and baby feeding cloths are the best. Use three towels or split the use of one. One towel dampened in detergent solution. One dampened in clean water and one completely dry. Clean the screen with the detergent water. Wipe and rinse with the clean water. Then completely dry any streaks with the dry towel. I have used this method for ten years on screens, glared and anti cleared screens. No abrasive chemicals involved. Remember your cleaning towels need to be soft and only damp. Not dripping.

Home security system vs baby monitor?

rachkw81

We are having Baby #2 in a couple of months and we live in a 2-story home, with our bedroom and main living on a different floor than the children's bedrooms. I want to be able to monitor each of my children in their own rooms by seeing and hearing them at the same time. I am also interested in monitoring them in the playroom. Has anyone found that a home security camera system to be more effective or affordable than a traditional baby monitor? If so, what is it like for you and which system did you use? Geeky dweebs and nerds are especially encouraged to reply with help.

Answer
To be honest, many baby video monitors can offer what you need. You can buy the parent unit and add more cameras as you need to monitor different rooms. I would take a look at the Samsung SEW-3037W. You can view up to 4 rooms at the same time using 4 cameras, via split screen on the parent unit. The night vision quality is good, it works over a large range and you can pan, zoom and tilt with the cameras

I need video baby monitors can you help me? ?

Ali

I'm looking for video baby monitors and where to buy, best brands, cheap would be nice. I have two childrens rooms that they need to be in. Thanks for all the help :)

Answer
I have used the Summer infant brand while sleep training my son. They are reliable and hold their charge very well, you can also buy an extra camera for the second room and split screen view both on the original monitor.

You will end up spending around $250 for both cameras and the one monitor but they will last an extremely long time and are well worth the money.

Can anyone recommend a good baby video monitor with pan/tilt feature?

Apey

Answer
The Samsung SEW-3037W is a great video monitor with pan/tilt and zoom features. It also comes with night vision, good quality audio and good battery life. You might also want to consider the Levana Astra. This model has really good battery life.

The Motorola MBP36 is also a popular choice, but I think the above mentioned models are better

Advanced kid, in preschool, behavior problems, he is bored and doesn't want to do "baby work". What to do?

Fordman

Grandkid in preschool. He reads at a 5th grade level, and can add columns of numbers. He is getting bored, and is starting to refuse to do simple problems, because he already knows how to do them. I need some direction. The boy is already in a private school, The teachers can't keep him interested, and to do the work the rest of the preschoolers are doing. He wants to learn more, and doesn't want to waste his time. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how did you solve it?
Kentucky, USA
He is still a little kid, and socially, I don't think that you can move him up to the level he is, and have him fit in with the older kids. The parents want him to have a normal childhood, and as he grows older, I'm sure that he will.
Now the question is, where do we go from here, at this time?
I'm in Louisville, but my grandchild is in the Paducah area. An example of the problem is: the teacher asked them to add 3 +2, then draw 3 blocks and 2 blocks and add them up. My grandchild told the teacher that he knows 3+2=5 and he doesn't need to draw blocks to find the answer. Then he starts crying, because he promised his mom that he would be good today and not get into trouble. Mom had to speak to him on the phone and assure him that he is not in trouble and it is OK. That's the kind of thing they are going through.
I wish I could give all of you the best answer points. Thanks to all

Answer
Don't know where you are in Kentucky but here's a start:

Lowe students perform in the top five percent of all schools in Kentucky. Lowe offers an extensive Communications and Technology Program. The entire school has been updated with wireless Internet connections. Monitored-Internet access is available in all classrooms as well as in the technology lab. All Lowe students participate in the Accelerated Reading Program.

You can also have a conference with the teacher and ask the teacher if she can give him additional work when she notices that he has finished - that way he stays occupied.

I want to get a bearded dragon as a baby? What should I know?

Alyssa Ans

I live with two snakes in the house. A columbian red tail, and a ball python. I want to get a baby bearded dragon. I have done a bit of research and everything. But I want to know from peoplewho have some experience with them things I should know as a begginner with these animals before I go get one and things I need and everything. Like what are the good and bad things about owning and caring for them? What are things I need and how often they get fed, what is the best thing to feed them? How much at a time? Things like that. Thanks!

Answer
First of all, you need this website: http://www.beardeddragon.org

You will learn everything you need there.

Secondly, DO NOT LISTEN TO ADVICE FROM THE PET STORE!! They don't know squat about caring for exotics, so make sure you know everything you need before you go, and don't let them talk you out of something you know to be true. That's why you need the above website!

Here is a basic list:

20g tank minimum. You'll need at least a 40g breeder when he's grown, so you may want to go ahead and get the bigger one. You can block off part of it if he seems intimidated by the size.
Craigslist is a great place to find cheap tanks.

Solid substrate for the bottom - Repticarpet, paper towels, non-adhesive shelf liner, or my favorite, tiles. Tiles are great. You only have to buy them once. They are super easy to clean and disinfect. They come in a lot of colors and styles so you can customize your look. They also help keep beardie's nails filed down. Sand, especially calcium sand, or any other particle substrate poses an impaction risk and should not be used for a dragon under one year old. And then washed childrens playsand is the only safe option.
You can go real cheap here, pennies for paper towels or less than $10 for tiles.

Thermometer - A temp gun or digital indoor/outdoor therm with a probe on a wire. The stick on type are useless, and it's important that you accurately monitor your temps. The probe goes directly on the basking spot, and this temp should be 100-110. The cool side should stay around 80.
Wal Mart sells the Acurite Digital Weather Station for $12. It is an indoor/outdoor therm with the probe and works perfect for this application.

Heat bulb and fixture - Lowes and Wal Mart both have metal dome work light fixtures. These work great. The bulb can be just a regular household bulb. You might need to try different wattages to see which one gives you the temps you need. Usually a 75W or 100W will do.
Bulb <$1, Fixure: $10

UVB bulb and fixture - AVOID THE COMPACT COIL. Linear fluorescents provide the best UVB (besides MVB bulbs, but you can learn about that on bd.org) and REPTISUN 10.0 (not ReptiGLO) is the best fluor bulb on the US market. You can get the fixture at Lowes or Wal Mart for a reasonable price. Make sure the fixture does not have a glass or plastic shield over the light. Glass and plastic both completely filter UVB. The bulbs are way cheaper if you order them online from somewhere like Pet Mountain.
Bulb: $30-$60 depending on which type you get. The fluor needs to be replaced ever 6 months and the MVB just once a year so the yearly costs are about the same.
Fixture: 24" fluor fixture at Wal Mart for $8, or the work light fixture for MVB for $10.

Then you'll want some cage furniture, a basking rock or log, a hide if you like (although a hide isn't really necessary), some fake greenery to make it pretty. You might want to consider something to enclose 3 sides of your tank. Some beardies freak out about all the visibility, but some don't seem to notice. I used fake bamboo blinds to do this and it looked great.

A baby needs to eat 2-3 times a day, as many crickets as he can eat in 10-15 minutes. This can equal 50 or even up to 100 crickets a day. A juvie/sub-adult can eat once a day, as many as he can eat, and an adult needs about 50 crickets a week, so you can feed him every other or every 3 days.

You'll need a plan for your live feeders. Again, way cheaper to buy in bulk online than a few at a time at the pet store (and healthier too, no doubt). A 20 qt or bigger plastic tub does nicely. Cut a hole in the lid and hot glue or duct tape some screen on top for ventilation. You can learn all you need about caring for your crix at bd.org, and you can also learn about other feeders.

A dragon of any age needs a salad of a dark, leafy green (like collards) and some other healthy veggie (like squash) available every day.

Here's a good website to tell you which veggies are good for your dragon:
http://www.beautifuldragons.503xtreme.coâ¦

Okay, just as important, I will give you a list of things NOT to get, no matter what the pet store tells you!

*calcium sand
*crushed walnut shells
*any substrate that has particles
*stick on thermometers
*crickets bigger than the space between his eyes
*mealworms
*compact coil UVB bulbs
*heat pad
*blue or red night light

30 weeks pregnant and I need something to do?

Dominance

Hi =-) The fall semester at my college has ended, and now I'm finding myself in constant boredom. Seeing as I have 10 more weeks to go, I would really appreciate suggestions on what I could do to prepare for the baby, and to help time fly. I have not began working on the nursery at all, so I really want to get started on that. Any ideas on DIY projects?

Answer
== VISIT THE PUBLIC LIBRARY and check out and read about baby care === shop the craigslist for baby furniture,, changing table,, lamp,, == buy a new mattress for the Baby bed === buy some fabric and make a quilt and curtains to match === Walmart and Kmart are the best places to buy baby bottles and the things that are needed for feeding and care === AND .... YES ... the throw-a-way diapers are the best for the 1st few months or use a diaper service ==== the sooner you do the potty training the better your child will understand being clean and independent ((( this is a fact ))) NOW ... for your projects more follows --- read online about infant seats for your car === decide what you can do to continue the college courses and buy the books so you have a head start towards a top GPA === see if you have a friend that can do the painting for the baby room === look for a baby monitor [[ radio type walkie-talkie @ radio shack or walmart ]]] all the things that you can do now will alleviate the stressful feelings that you have and make the time of delivery much easier ................... perhaps you can find a care giver for the hours that you are back in college and you will be happier going back soon after delivery and you will still have time for your baby ... it is a nice time in your life and I hope that you will a wonderful new MOM ....

My SUMMER wireless baby monitor, works like crap, any easy fixes for poor reception?

cheesehead

Can this be converted to a hard wired system easily? Any easy options to boost the reception? I have easy access to run a cable to the babies rooms, but the wireless is crappy for reception

Answer
Try to minimize interference, such as moving cordless 2.4GHz phones, microwaves, etc away from the monitor.

Make sure there aren't large, solid objects like refrigerators or concrete walls between the transmitters.

That's about all you can hope to do.

You can always build a DIY parabolic antenna to boost reception...there are instructions online on how to do this.

Do you think baby products i.e baby carriers, night lights, baby monitors etc would sell well on ebay uk

Answer
From my experience any item under $10-$15 you won't make hardly anything from because of all the fees the are incurred by e bay and pay pal.

E bay has really changed over the years which has all been in their favor.

I have found over the many years of selling that having a store with a fixed price works best for me.
If you use these items mentioned and the make your store "Unique" with
some handmade items that would make all the difference in the world.

Finding someone on a fixed income that could really use some extra money that can sew, knit etc. would help your store and the people that you find to make things.

There's just too much stuff made from China these days.

Having things that are cute and out of the ordinary will draw customers to your store.

Grandparents and relatives love homemade baby items.

My puppy was attacked this morning...?

baby monitor 1000 ft on Vtech Crystal Sounds DECT Digital Monitor Support and Manuals
baby monitor 1000 ft image

ashley s

I have a question about what I should do here. This is what happened this morning...
I have a black lab/rott mix and a cocker spaniel. The mix is a little over 2 and the cocker is just a year old. I let them outside into our fenced in back yard to potty and went to change my sons diaper. They had been out there for less than a minute when I heard barking, growling, and and squealing.
I ran outside as fast as I could (I'm 9 months pregnant) and saw my mix dog standing on the porch and the puppy no where in sight.
When I came further out onto the porch, I see my neighbors dogs (a pitt and a chow mix) practically eating my dog. They had jumped the fence that has to be at least 4-5 feet tall. One has her by the legs and stomach area and the other has her by her front paws.
I threw things and tried to kick the dogs to get them off of my puppy. Nothing worked. When the neighbor finally made it through her gate and mine, the dogs had drawn blood from my puppy. She grabbed one by the collar and I tried to pull the puppy away from the pitt bull.
Once I got her free, I came in and washed her off to see where the blood was coming from. I didn't see many open wounds, and they were all small. But her stomach was bruised very badly and she could not walk.
I immediately took her to the emergency vet. My vet is closed today. My neighbor said she would pay for the visit before I had left to go there. Once I got the estimate for all the things they wanted to do (ie blood work to check that all organs were properly working, xray to make sure the bones were not broken and that her lungs had not been punctured, and overnight to keep an eye on her) the amount was almost $1000. Obviously the neighbor doesn't have that kind of cash just lying around.
I agreed to drop off some of the unimportant things, making sure the neighbor knew they have to be done this week at the regular vet (it will be cheaper.) It brought the cost down to under $500. She called in and made the payment. The vet did the xray and blood work, puppy will be fine.
I made copies of all payments and estimates for myself and the neighbor. I also requested a copy of the chart for our records. I figured that I would need these just in case. I feel that I have done everything correctly and properly, even though she is a friend. She was way before moving in next door.
Here is my question - do I file a police report? What should I do about her dogs, that obviously shouldn't be living next door to me? If someone like animal control comes out, will these dogs be taken away and/or put down?
Any help or experience with this situation will be helpful.
I never said that I want her dogs killed. I also never said that I want her to get in trouble for any of this. I just was wondering if I should have a report in case something else happens. I know that she shelled out the money for the vet! I know that she feels bad! That is why I don't want her to get in trouble...if she didn't care, I would have already called a lawyer to take care of this in court. I'm not asking her for any more money (unless something else comes out of this). And the fence cannot be replaced because it is owned by the owner of her house...she is a renter. They ALWAYS bring the dogs out on leashes and I've never had to worry about putting my dogs out into a yard that I own.
And no, I don't feel like the dogs "have a right" to live next door with their owner if they can't do it PEACEFULLY. Almost killing my dog=not peaceful. This is not the first time we have had issues with these dogs either, just the only time something has actually happened.
Also just wanted to add that the dogs are HUMAN aggressive too. They bit their owner in the process of all of this. And they are kept in kennels when inside of the house because they have tried to attack her child since he was born.

Answer
I'm not positive about this but I think this is what happens:

First, you can't really file a police report. Your neighbor did not intentionally set her dogs on your dogs and no people got hurt in the incident. They will probably send you to speak to the ACO.

The ACO will take the dogs for a ten day quarantine. During this time they will be monitored for signs of rabies and if they do show signs they will be immediately exterminated and their brain's sent for testing. I believe you have the legal right to demand euthanasia for rabies testing if you were bit, but not just for your animals. I could be wrong, however.

Now, since your neighbor is your friend, offered right away to pay- and did pay this is what I would recommend:

Talk to her about the problem and how to make sure it never happens again. You took reasonable precautions to keep your dogs safe so now your neighbor needs to do her part. Her fence needs to be replaced with an 8 ft. one. I've seen pits jump 6fters with ease. Pits are known for their dog aggression (before I get all the hate- I own 2 pits and think they're wonderful dogs, you just have to know the breed and be honest with yourself about it) so she needs to be aware of her dog's tendency to chase down and kill small animals. Many dogs have prey drive which is what this sounds like. Chows aren't known for their brains or temperament mostly because they were initially bred to be food in China. Not that I have anything against Chows, but again, you need to know your breed's history in order to live in harmony with them.
This being said, tell your neighbor that you have every right to let your dogs out into your yard without worrying that her dogs are going to come over and kill your dogs. Her dogs either should only be outside if they are left in a pen (with a top) or if she installs a second, much higher fence with an electric fence a couple feet in from the visible fence so they don't want to come near that boundary.
If she does not agree to either of these options then you will need to tell her that you will be filing a report. In some places the dogs will be immediately euthanized, in others they will be deemed "dangerous dogs" and she will have certain restrictions and rules to follow if she wants to keep her dogs and 0 more chances for them to mess up. These include only being allowed in public with them on a 3 foot leach and a hard metal cage-muzzle, and keeping them in a certain type of enclosure on her property at all times.

Good luck and I'm so sorry this happened to you. Just remember that those awful, vicious dogs that attacked your baby are someone else's light and love. They may seem terrible to you but to your neighbor they may be loving babies that are just misunderstood. Maybe this is the first time anything like this ever happened? How would you feel if this happened with your Rottie...?

Reptile Care. {Really long}?

Newbie

Okay so I have multiple questions I hope you actually read all of this and answer at least some of the questions if you can. Even if you can't answer them all that is fine. I'm putting together information to be able to properly care for all of my babies.
It sounds ridiculous but I'm new to taking care of snakes. My boyfriend isn't all that new but he's not a pro at it or anything so I'm taking the initiative to find out what to do. Now for the ridiculous part. I own 2 6ft Burmese pythons, 2 baby Red Tail Boas one is about 1 ft and the other is about 1.5 ft. Also I own a baby lizard.
Okay now for the questions.
1.) Should my snakes be put into different tanks or areas when they are fed?
2.) How long should I wait before I move them?
3.) I house both boas together and both burms together. Is it safe to put them together after feeding?
4.) I read that you can give snakes vitamins after feeding to keep them healthy: True or False?..If True what vitamins and where do I get the proper vitamins?
5.) For the snakes comfort what is the maximum amount of time I should hold each one && minimum amount of time?
6.) One of my 6ft Burms rubs her nose on the top of the tank and it's making her face raw and possibly causing her breathing passages to become bloody how should I go about stopping her from doing that?
7.) I have a kitten as well that has to stay in my room which is where I house my snakes. What should I do to make both of them more comfortable as well as me with my worry that he'll get eaten?
8.) I just got the baby lizard today. I don't remember the type of lizard but it grows to be 3ft. If there are any lizard care tips you have please email them to me or just post them here.

I would really appreciate some help and if there are any tips that I haven't asked a question about but might not know feel free to share. =)
Thanks for your time!
Thanks Penguin for the answers I can use. I asked my boyfriend who is the one who bought it for me and he said that the baby lizard is a Savannah Monitor. If you can help with that then it would be appreciated.

Answer
1) 1000 times NO!!!!!!!!!!!
Especially when dealing with large species of snakes. Your Burms are going to be 15+ ft. It is work enough to move one in and out of a cage for any reason. Let alone one that is in a feeding mode( been there done that). Any truly experienced herper knows this( we all start some were, and make mistakes). The same applies to monitors as well, though I have never kept them.
http://www.reptileforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33131

2) You don't have to if you feed in the cage, problem solved. At least 30 minutes after it has fully swallowed they prey to allow proper settling and reduce chance of regurgitation.

3) It is far better to have separate cages. I was lucky when I housed pairs and tub fed i never had an issue. There are known cases of snakes attacking each other because of the smell of prey being on the other. Feeding multiples in the same cage has the same issue and fighting over prey.

4). Repta-Cal is one of the best brands and can be gotten at Petsmart
Vitamin Supplements are not really necessary for snakes such as boids though.

5) An hour is about the max i have ever have ever handle a single animal.

6 & 7)
Get a large proper cage not an aquarium. Build or buy. As for treating the wound you can apply an antibiotic ointment. The sooner you replace the cage the better, other wise it will keep rubbing its nose on the screen and continue to cause damage to it nose that can lead to infections and yes can spreads and cause mouth rots as mentioned.

These guys are fairly new but their cages are designed for giant snakes as Burms and Retics

Mrs.S

I have looked into digital monitors, but they're a little out of my price range. Does anyone know of any good classic style baby monitors? I am pregnant with my first child.

Answer
I love the Sony sound sensor baby call. It's voice activated so you don't hear the static. You do have the choice of listening to everything though. I bought a second one for my 3 yr olds room since I can't hear her if she calls out. They are only $35.00 at Target, great buy.

What is the best 2 room video baby monitor?

Kristin

I would like to get a baby video monitor but I want it in both kids rooms with only one monitor screen. What is the best one on the market for the cheapest price. Or...is there a video system out that has only one camera that I can order a 2nd camera separate for?

Answer
Hi

Like any other products, baby monitors need to suit your lifestyle and satisfy your requirements, even to the slightest of details. So before you purchase one, try to dwell on a number of factors first. These things will not only serve as your guide, they will also help you pick out the best type or brand for your little one.

Some of the things you need to consider are:

Range
Portability
Levels of Interference
Video Monitoring Options

There are more details at the link in the source box about the Best Baby Monitors and I hope they help

Take care

best baby monitor for travel image

Mrs.

I'm talking about things that the baby likes, or things that make life more convienent. Not MUST haves, but things you really like having.

Answer
well, u can go to babies r us website and they have a list for ppl who are going to register..of course it has a lot of things on there that you don't need, but if you weed through you can get what you need out of it...the things i liked;found most useful, etc......

.i would def recommend:
a diaper genie 2; idk why ppl don't like them, there is NO smell in my dd 's room
changing table..will save your back, good for diap changes, clothes changes, sponge baths, etc and you have shelves to store your new baby must haves....i have canvas bins on the shelves to store things that are good to have in reach or easily available...
monitor--i like the graco imonitor, recently bought a second one for another room in the house bc i liked the other one so much, it has been working well for over 8 mos now, and it has good range, battery life, and i can hear EVERYTHING; never any interference....it works great..
boppy pillow with cotton covers, soft ones don't fit as well for some reason
lots of baby hangers, and baby hangers with clips to keep outfits together
primo euro bathtub
prince lionheart diaper depot and wipewarmer; ours works well and the wipes are still very warm when we get them to out dd's bottom; and she doesn't freak out when we are out and they aren't warmed, but seems to appreciate it when they are..
health kit: brush, comb, thermometer (not an ear one, not as accurate), nail clippers, etc.
baby meds, generic is just as good and a lot cheaper...desitin(or plain zinc oxide if you can find it)..not creamy, has less zinc ox in it....infant mylicon and tylenol
lots of diapers , make sure wherever you buy them will let you exchange them for a diff size if you need to even after the return period...brus let me do that, and buy a small pack of a couple brands to see which you prefer before you open the big boxes...wipes, lots of them, without alcohol or fragrance! we use swaddlers diapers and pampers sensitive wipes; no rashes, no reactions to their ingredients, diapers hold a lot when they have too and the netting tends to keep the wet off her bottom...
lots of baby washclothes, you may have to use them on baby's bum if it is really sensitive and gets a rash....and baby towels, but you could use your reg towels if money is an issue

swing, pref swings two ways and plugs in instead of batteries
bouncy seat
infant travel system! easy, easy, easy--we got the graco tour deluxe; it is great, folds with one hand, several seating positions, lays flat for sleep; has a big basket underneath and cup holders for mom and dad, one for baby , place for snacks for baby, and a 'pocket' up top for keys, cell phone, whatever you wanna put there...
play yard, get one with bassinet feature if you want to, easier to keep baby in your room for a while before putting them in crib in their room=we have chicco discovery and it is awesome, has more padding than most, easy to wash..machine wash, most are wipe down...very sturdy, has nightlight, vibration, etc and a flip up change table, has wooden slats that slide in under mattress for support...not that much more exp than the others and much better in my opinion
passys--she loves soothies and that is all she will take..
baby wash, again frag free, dye free
frag free , dye free laundry detergent
clothes hamper or basket
lingerie bag for socks, mittens, anything little so they don't get lost in the wash...
something to put baby toys in
extra toy links
lullaby cd and small cd player; my dd has come to love white noise, she naps with a fan and a womb bear; sleeps at night with a fan....
oh, mosquito cover for your infant carrier..it's where you can see in , baby can see out, but strangers cant just walk up and touch your baby, and they will!!!!!
all i can come up with now...LOL
diaper bags; big one for everything you may need, leave in car unless you will be somewhere a long time, and a small one to stick what you will need for a short run in so you don't have to haul the bigger one

if ffing:
avent formula dispenser; has better review than the ones made by sassy, and convert to a snack cup later...i loved it so much i bought a second one!
bottles--really liked playtex ventaire advanced when she was young, more pieces but it's easy to get them clean when the top and bottom comes off...and they vent through the bottom instead of the nip so no bubbles or foam going back up into baby's milk; they will leak if you don't put them together correctly, but we have had no probs with them and have never had to replace any parts on them..if u decide on them and have leaks, email me and i will explain how to keep them from leaking...:O)
bottle and nip brushes--i really like the ones by munchking that don't have a sponge on the end of the brush, they come in diff colors mixed with white and have a great nip brush in the handles....
drying racks--again, i really like munchkins...
formula mixer: i like dr brown's formula pitcher bc you don't shake it it is only abo

How often should I have sex to make a baby?

Chloe

I'm 19 & I told my man I wanted to make a baby last month & he was soo excited; we have unprotected sex , but we only have sex like 2-3 times a month .. Should we be having sex more or just be patient & that time I get pregnant will happen ?? What are yall opinions ?

Answer
Don't listen to these pointless answers. You're old enough to realise what you're doing. So 2-3 times is not enough. If you want to max you're chances you need me having sex every 2-3 days through out the month. Some people can't as work different hours and buy an ovulation monitor the price is something like 60 pounds though which is quite pricey. But that will tell you if you're fertile that day. So most women ovulate on the 14th day of their cycle if their cycle is 28 days. Online there is ovulation calendars they are so easy to do you just write in cycle length and when you're last period was and tells you you're fertile phase and estimated ovulation date. I done quite a few and am trying conceive myself this month. Remember its an estimate but why not try it? I done the fertie phase it told me and had intercourse a few days before and few days after it said to make sure. If your periods are regular it will also be much easier to get pregnant and plan on it, where as if you're not regular you have to try for more days. Just remember to not stress as you will not get pregnant, just try be calm and relaxed. Also try get to know you're body there are certain signs when ovulating. I noticed change of discharge it was kinda watery clear and strechy. There are loads of things online which will help massively. Try the ovulations calendars you can even get apps on some of them, and will remind you what days you should be having intercourse also try keep the semen inside you for about 30 minutes makes it easier to travel if you lay on your back. With legs slightly up. Good luck remember if you're not pregnant this month, there's always next month it usually happens when you least expect it. Best wishes x

What is the best router I can get for this price?

baby monitor 150 on Baby Products Archives - Best New Moms Magazine | Best New Moms ...
baby monitor 150 image

Andrew

I'm looking to get a new router at or under $150. I need something that will be good for gaming and has a great connection to mobile devices.

Answer
Best is a relative term,

Wireless signals are affected by many factors including wall density, electrical interference, directional antenna range, etc. 2.4 GHz WiFi connections also experience interference from microwave ovens and cordless phones which interfere with the 2.4 GHz band.

Dual band routers have multiple wireless radios enabling broadcast on the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands simultaneously. Using the 5 GHz band cuts down on interference from cordless phones and microwave ovens.. Not all devices can use the 5 GHz frequency. Many laptops and other devices only operate at 2.4 GHz. Thus the need for dual band routers.

Depending on the size of your house and the factors listed above, you may need one or more wireless access points or wireless range extenders to cover all areas adequately.

Just because a particular wireless router works good at one location does not guarantee that it will have similar performance in a different location due to variance in the factors listed above.

You should try to centrally locate your wireless router or gateway up high and away from dense walls and electrical and 2.4 GHz wireless interference such as microwave ovens, cordless phones, baby monitors, etc.

For serious gaming or video streaming your best bet is a direct Ethernet connection. Ethernet is unaffected by wireless interference and will give you a rock solid, stable network connection.

For Internet use, CAT5 is fine, for faster LAN speed use CAT6 and Gigabit devices.

Let me explain,

A fast router or wireless LAN connection does not make your Internet faster.

A router connects two separate networks and manages the traffic between them.

In most home network applications the router connects your local group of computers and devices known as the LAN with the Internet, commonly called the WAN or Wide Area Network.

Your WAN speed is determined by your ISP and is measured in Mbps (Millions of bits per second).

If you pay for a 3 Mbps Internet connection, you will get 3 Mbps.

No router or wireless connection will change your 3 Mbps Internet speed. This connection bandwidth is shared by your entire LAN via your router.

If you have a 3 Mbps Internet plan and one user is utilizing 2.5 Mbps of the bandwidth to stream a Netflix movie that only leaves 0.5 Mbps for all of the rest of the users on the LAN.

Fast wireless routers and connections are designed to stream large files on your LAN quickly. The high speed routers permit fast transfer of files between devices connected to your LAN, however WAN speed is still limited by your ISP.

You can test your Internet (WAN) speed here: http://speedtest.net

Only way to speed up an Internet connection is to get a faster plan or ISP.

That being said,

Wireless routers are fairly inexpensive. http://www.amazon.com/s/?_encoding=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&keywords=wireless%20router&linkCode=ur2&qid=1367370295&rh=n%3A300189%2Ck%3Awireless%20router&rnid=2941120011&tag=excharge-20

As far as the brand goes, the brand is not as important as the model. Some manufacturers release a good model but the next is crap. I would look at the Amazon reviews of models that interest you. Even if you don't buy from Amazon the reviews will tell you a lot about which models to avoid. Look for at least 15 or more reviews with a 4 star or better rating. Read a few and see if they sound like the particular model will work for your application.

Good Luck...

Where can you find prices for artificial insemination into a donor egg?

Randi

My friends are a lesbian couple trying to conceive and one of the women wants to literally give birth to the other's baby by artificially inseminating and implanting her partner's egg into her womb.

Answer
Wow... that is so cool!! :) I would contact a reproductive endocrinologist. He/she will be able to answer any and all questions related to this. I know one cycle of IVF costs between $12,000-$15,000... not sure how much that cost would go up with the addition of the other person into the mix. Great idea though. Good luck to your friends! :)

Here is some info from a fertility clinic in MN... not sure where you live and this is for an anonymous donor, but it gives an idea anyway. The web site is www.ivf-minnesota.com.

Donor Egg - Program Costs
Anonymous Donor Egg Costs
The Center for Reproductive Medicine and Advanced Reproductive Technologies uses a package price for an anonymous donor egg cycle. This price includes $4000 for the donor reimbursement, as well as donor screening costs, donor monitoring during the cycle, donor egg retrieval, laboratory costs, and anesthesia for the retrieval. It also includes recipient monitoring and cycle coordinating and the embryo transfer.

Package Price $17,975

Additional costs include donor stimulation medications and recipient medications.

Estimated cost $3500
Possible additional charges:

Freezing of Embryos - $825 (Includes first 6 months storage)
Annual storage fee for frozen embryos - $550
Donor sperm - approximately $150-265/vial

SavannaJo

Sounds cruel, I know, but it's not what you think. See, my grandmother is really fucking nosey and has a baby monitor hidden somewhere in our living room so that she can listen to the family talk while she is "sleeping". Personally, I can't stand it when people can't keep their nose out of my business and would like to put an end to this. Is there anything I can do or maybe something I could buy to block the signal? Help, please?

Answer
If it's a baby monitor, it can't be that small. Do a thorough search and find it. Then open it up, pry several components off the board and put it back. Or if you know where she keeps the receiver wait until she's away, open it and pry a few components off the board. Or tape the transmitter to a waste pipe so she hears every time a toilet flushes.

What is the best baby monitor to buy?

Q. I have a fisher price baby monitor and it sucks all I hear is static I would love to find one that is alot clearer.

Answer
I have a Phillips Avent digital baby monitor, it's a little pricey but you get no static since it's digital. It is awesome, tells you the temperature in the baby's room and plays lullabies, etc.

37 weeks and 4 days pregnant with baby number 3, and not really sure what's going on?

baby monitor zero to three on Advanced 3.5
baby monitor zero to three image

Smirutka

This may sound a little funny considering this is my 3rd child but I really have no clue what's going on right now. I'm 37 weeks and 4 days pregnant & @ my last doctor appointment which was this past friday (37 weeks exactly) I was 2 centimeters dilated, 50% effaced & baby's head was at the zero station. I have been losing my mucous plug little by little over the past 2 weeks or so and the rest of it came out yesterday morning. Shortly after the plug came out I ended up getting pretty bad diarrhea that lasted the rest of the day. Well, last night I started feeling VERY crampy, almost menstrual period type crampy, but it was coming in spurts. I would cramp for a little bit, then it would stop. Well, this morning, I noticed that I started spotting a little bit (I'm guessing that's due to my mucous plug coming out yesterday). I've had CONSTANT menstrual period type cramps since about 11 o'clock this morning (and it's now 8 o'clock at night). It feels JUST like an intense menstrual cramp, but it's been there ALL day, no mercy. It's not geting worse, and it's not getting less painful, it's just THERE and won't go away. I've tried walking, laying down, relaxing and drinking a nice cold bottle of water.. NOTHING has helped.

If it helps any, when I went into labor with my oldest (now 5 years old), my contractions were 5 minutes apart when they started, and from the time labor started, until I pushed her out, I was only in labor for SIX hours.

When I went into labor with my youngest (now 3 years old), I hadn't felt any contractions or anything & my water broke a little after midnight, I wasn't feeling ANY contractions at all, but went to the hospital anyways, just because my water had broken. When the nurse hooked me up to the machine that monitors the contractions, IT was showing that I was having pretty intense contractions every 3 minutes, and she was surprised that I wasn't feeling a thing. I started feeling the contractions at 7:30 that morning & from the time I started feeling contractions until I pushed her out, I was only feeling the pain for THREE HOURS.

And it's due to past labor and birth experiences that I am completely STUCK as to what's going on with my body right now. And I don't know if I should go get checked out, or just wait... I have no clue. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

p.s. I am feeling the baby move ALOT, so I'm not worried that there's anything wrong with her. It's just my body that's making me unsure of what to do.

Answer
I would say you are well into labor, momma. Good luck and all the best :)

Liberals and Govt. and less taxes?

jaguarman

Why do extreme Liberals hate Free Enterprise,Capitalism, and companies that want less taxes, and less govt.? I didn't mean Zero Govt. I mean less Govt. in peoples lives. I think it would help the economy now.

Answer
Actually the old bromide of "less taxes and limited government" is not a Liberal or a Conservative issue at all. It's about common sense, to quote Thomas Paine.

Less taxes and less government? That's an old bromide which is used in elections every year, but in practice it just doesn't work. Governments require money in order to operate (the same as any organization) and they earn money through three methods: licensing fees, import duties, and taxes. The first two account for about 20% of government revenues, with taxes making up the rest. Decrease the taxes, and the government has less money, so governmental programs (like AFDC, CCC, CDC) go to the chopping block, and some people somewhere are going to suffer.

Too confusing? Try it this way. John Smith works as a rancher near Cheyenne, Wyoming. Every year he pays $500 so his cattle can graze on government preserves, and he pays $1,000 every year in federal taxes. A tax crusader comes into office and gives him a 50% tax cut. He saves $500 a year, but the same tax cut affects 20 million other people, which means the government loses roughly $10 billion. To make up for the loss, it cuts funding to Federal school programs and the Environmental Protection Agency. Now John's son has to be driven to 30 miles to school by his father because the Federal Bus Program no longer exists. He uses that $500 savings on gasoline, and it goes pretty quickly! Meanwhile, the EPA isn't monitoring the groundwater poisoning from a lead mine nearby, which results in John's wife giving birth to a baby with severe brain damage!

This is not an empty hpothesis on my part, it's fact.

Take the case of Proposition 13 in California. It was touted by a tax crusader named Howard Jarvis in 1978. Prop 13 drastically reduced the property taxes paid by homeowners in California, and led to a boom in the housing market. Sounds great, right? But property taxes also accounted for the primary source of funding for California schools. Today--30 years later--California schools' performance ranks last nationwide! Before Prop 13 it was near the top.

Or how about the Governator, Arnold Schwarzenegger? When he came into office, he drastically reduced (by 50%) the vehicle licensing fee at the Department of Motor Vehicles. Voters applauded. However, that licensing fee was the primary source of funding for the state budget. Now, three years later, California is facing a $40 billion deficit, and though Arnold has tried taking the money from the schools, the prisons, or even from state health care budgets it's nowhere near enough, and has only succeeded in alienating the legislature and producing a political crisis which may end up costing him his job (there is talk of impeaching Schwarzenegger).

Was it worth it?

Nobody--Liberal, Conservative, Anarchist, or Libertarian--likes paying taxes, but taxes pay salaries, support the poor, pave the roads, feed the hungry, and in some cases even pay for roadkill removal! Would we really want to give that up?

Less government and lower taxes sounds great in the short term, but the long-term effects just aren't worth it. And that's not a Liberal platitude, that common sense.

P.S. for the record, I'm a centrist.

When will tmobile come out with the iPhone?

baby monitor 2013 on ... baby movement monitors after two reported deaths the monitors were
baby monitor 2013 image

sockssoxs1

I have seen articles and reports that T-Mobile will carry apple products in the new year (2013). When can I expect to see the iphone 5 on T-Mobiles network?

thanks

Answer
I let my friend (coworker) who owns an iPhone 5 use my Note 2 just to compare, and showed him how to use it.

I then asked him why people prefer iPhone 5 over the customization that Android gives. He had no answer to that (he did attempt to say that the iPhone was simpler to use, and I described that the it was true that even babies could use the iPhone, but the Android only takes a day to customize to ones wants and needs), just that he never knew Android had gotten so good. He then offered to trade me his iPhone 5 and a gaming screen he had previously used for his triple monitor setup. I stoutly declined.

This sounds like I'm just trying to spite you because even if the events that I have just tried to describe are false (and they are not), they are impolite.

So I won't educate you on the benefits of the Note 2, and Android as an OS, and why I'm not here to start a war, but merely to inform you that iPhone is definitely starting to fall off as a feature full phone every generation. Every generation, the iPhone is declining. I won't speak of it anymore, and just try answering your question without killing myself over how much a tech geek like me needs to tell you how much better Android is. All you have to do is research and use google anyway if you wanted to know, right?

So about iPhone on T-mobile. You probably won't be seeing the iPhone 5 likely appear in next month. After that, they will be very eager to get the iPhone 5 if they truly are considering offering the iPhone 5 (they already offer the Galaxy Note 2, though... OOPS what am I saying?!?!). So around 3-4 months? Yep very likely.

But don't buy a phone on a contract. You will end up paying more. Do you wonder why contracts lock you in and lower the price on phones? It's not really because they want you to stay (well yes they do), but that they gain a better profit anyway. They lock you into a plan that is very bad compared to prepaid plans so every month you will be shelling out tons more money for tons less service. Let's say you pay $90 every month for the same service you get at $49... There you go. 2 year contract = 12+12 = 24 x 40 = 960. You will be shelling out an extra $960 along with the small fee you payed with the phone when you signed your contract ($200 maybe?).

See, I'm just trying to educate you on what choice you should take: prepaid.

Prepaid? Look at Straight Talk, Solavei, T-mobile Prepaid (hidden because they like you using contracts), there are many great options. Check them out.

Are you in favor of killing babies born alive during abortions?

HORRIFIC: Testimony That Baby âScreamedâ During Live-Birth Abortion click the link below and see what it is like for the baby yes baby , its not a glob. http://www.mrconservative.com/2013/04/11004-baby-screams-during-live-birth-abortion. By the way Obama voted for this 4 times and is in favor of it.

Answer
If the baby comes out alive, it should immediately be taken and put up for adoption. If a baby comes out breathing and/or screaming, it is flat-out murder to end its life. I'm sorry. There really is no arguing that point no matter what side of the fence you are on the topic. Now how to ensure compliance? Well, you would think a medical doctor would already have the ethics to do this, but I guess not. I suppose a mandatory videotaping of all abortions or a live, real-time monitoring of them, and the criminal charging of doctors who kill live babies.

In my search to find the perfect bottle/pacifier/breastpump/crib/baby monitor/etc. I have noticed that several companies sell the same exact product in the USA and UK, but by different names. Also, I have found that on American websites they show something neat that I would like to try only to find out it is only sold in the UK. I wonder why they do that? Any thoughts? :)

Answer
This is likely due to the difference in consumer product safety restrictions between the two regions. I have provided links to the respective organizations in each country.

moving house tomorrow and baby will be in own room. what baby monitor do you suggest buying?

maddiesmum

I dont want it to be more than around £100. Sorry im from UK btw so it needs to be available to buy here x
are the video ones worth the money or do you think the sounds ones will suffice?

Answer
We have the Angelcare Movement Monitor. It detects the heart rate and will set off the alarm if the baby stops breathing for more then 20 seconds. It also has a regular sound monitor in it. It is well worth it. I have yet to have a false alarm and gives me such peace of mind at night.

http://www.toysrus.co.uk/Babies-R-Us/Safety/Monitors-and-Nightlights/Angelcare-Movement-and-Sound-Baby-Monitor(0030643)

We have the older version of it. This is the newer one.

ETA: I bought mine of Ebay for half the price and works just was well as if you were to buy it in the store.

i am talking about having a hidden recorder in a building and recording conversations on your property.how legal is doing this?

Answer
It would depend on your jurisdiction.
I would tend to relate it to using a "nanny camera" to monitor a baby sitter. In most jurisdictions the nanny cam recording and a telephone conversation recordings are two different issues.
Double check for your area but, If at least one resident or owner of the building are aware of it you should be fine. If your an employee with no "rights" to the building and your being sneaky you may find yourself in a lot of trouble.

Webcam / nanny cam? I would like to install a web cam that i can use as a nanny cam when i am not in the room

Q. Is there one that can be used even though the PC may be turned off? Preferably, i'd like to monitor the activity via my laptop? Any surveillance gurus out there that can guide in the right direction?

Answer
Do you have a wireless network? I use the Linksys WVC54GC wireless video camera on one of my networks and I'm very happy with it. My only complaint is that it doesn't have night vision like a baby monitor. If you have a wireless network running, by all means use this camera, it's easy to use and you won't need to leave your PC powered up like you said because the camera has its own built-in web server. Plus, you can set up motion detection and only have it record the times when there is motion. You can even have it email you an .AVI video clip of the motion it detected, pretty cool. Should cost you about $110-120 at a BestBuy or CompUSA. If you don't have a wireless network and want to set one up (it's easy) then go with the Linksys WRT54G. If you don't want a WLAN, you have other answers above to review...

by the way I love taking pictures of newborns and wedding and things like that. How could you not? but I want to do other things too.
no I'm not. so far all I have is my phone. this is more for the future when I've had training.
I mean at some point I'm gonna have a really good camera that I know will be super expensive but what I want for now is something that is a good camera to get me started for around 1000 dollars or so.
don't worry. I know that its more about the photographer. ive always been good with art and creative things and I take good pictures now with just my phone and ive definitely considered the costs of everything else. thank you though! your answer helped a lot!

reviews for baby monitors?

We are looking for a really good quality baby monitor and we want one that has nightvision (or infrared or whatever it's called) I've sen some that monitor the baby in the dark but most of them have LEDs on the camera. I don't want to shine a flood light on my baby at night. We just want something that works in the dark without a light. Can anybody recommend a good monitor?
Thanks! :o)

* 2.36" color LCD monitor (Large and portable monitor display)
* Features built-in night light and lullabies to soothe baby
* Digital wireless technology means no interference (90% ofbaby monitors uses MHZ wavelenght in order to receive their signal or sound but they will fail because cordless phone, microwave ovens, car remote receivers and or garage door remotes just to name a few uses MHZ an eventually you monitor will stop working because it start getting the signal from the other appliances )
*Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS) for privacy (because its digital it can't be picked up by
other digital accesories around your house or neighbors)
* Auto exposure on camera (no blurry shots)
* Maximum Distance: 500' line of sight (you can be 500ft away from baby)
* Automatic night vision activation on camera (nothing to explain here)
* Includes rechargeable battery (awesome feature)
