Looking for a baby monitor with 2 bases/1 receiver...can you help?

jjorl

Hi. I have a 2 year old son and am expecting a little girl in a few months. I am looking for a baby monitor in which I can put a base in each of their rooms and just have one receiver in our room. I have looked all over the Internet and cannot find such a thing. I see they make a ton with 2 receivers and one base, but what about 2 bases and one receiver? Any ideas? Thanks

Answer
I've had this problem too... My kids are in different rooms and when they are napping I like to go upstairs to work on sewing projects. I can't hear either of them from up there, so I do need monitors for both. I tried getting a second baby monitor, but found that the monitors interfered with each other. If I had both bases on, I just got static on the receivers. What I ended up doing is getting an intercom system from radio shack. The intercoms are wired, the signal is transmitted through the electrical lines in the house. I'm using the intercoms for my daughter (3 year old) and a baby monitor for my son (11 months). You can have as many intercoms as you want, you set one to be the "base" by putting it on lock. Then you can listen from any of the other ones. The intercoms can also be useful when your kids outgrow monitors. When it's not on lock, people on any of them can push the talk button to say something and it will be heard by all the others. My parents have had one for years so that when my dad goes down to work in the basement, my mom can call him on the intercom rather than having to yell down the stairs at him.

Baby breathing monitor?

Emma's Mom

How many of you mommies have bought any of the monitors on the links below?? Do they work good?? Not too many false alarms?? Would you recommend those ones or another brand??

http://www.target.com/Angelcare-Movement-Sensor-Nursery-Monitor/dp/B0000CEDRO/sr=1-2/qid=1234758095/ref=sr_1_2/190-7478296-6555765?ie=UTF8&rh=k%3Amonitor-angelcare&page=1

Answer
i have 2 of them....i LOVE love love them. our master bedroom is upstairs, the kids room downstairs, and my husband works midnights. that monitor is that only thing that ever gives me piece of mind for sleep at night esp since i have horrible hearing.
they make a bunch of diffffernt kinds...digital ones, ones with room temp on it, ones with extra long sensor pads. i prefer the extra long sensor pads, and never get false alarms.

this was worth every penny, esp if you plan to have more kids...and the resell on them is great.

i highly recommend them. try it out, if you don't like it it than save the receipt and return it.

better WiFi on my 13 year old mac?!?

littlest t

Hi,
I just bought a new Samsung laptop and just for kicks, tried to pick up wifi signals in my building/area. My slow, crabby old Pismo MAC (13yrs old) can pretty much pick up a solid signal from every household from here to Japan...but this brand spanking new 1T Samsung can barely (1 bar, some times 2) pick up the signal from our neighbours next door! Plus, in the menu of available signals, the old mac lists about 30... the flashy new laptop, only 4!
We're getting our new wireless set up tomorrow and frankly I'm worried that this snappy new Samsung may be a write-off, quality-wise. I paid through the teeth for it, so I don't get it.
Could it just have a bad airport/wireless card? Should I exchange it?
Are there differences between laptop brands and the quality of their wireless/software in general?
Any suggestions?
I'd happily keep using the Mac except for the fact that it's only got a non-upgradeable 18GB of space and it's getting sloowww. Also can't really afford a brand new Mac :/

Thanks very much
Thanks, Dan. Well I am not surprised that newer laptops have crappier software - at the rate at which each company pumps out their different notebooks, I can't imagine the workmanship is all that great.
Maybe I will just spring for a new MAC - grrr.

Answer
Many newer tablets and laptops have crappy wireless reception.

If you are getting a new wireless router try to centrally locate it up high and away from dense walls and electrical and 2.4 GHz wireless interference such as microwave ovens, cordless phones, baby monitors, etc.

If you still have a weak wireless signal, there are solutions.

Devices such as wireless extenders can expand your wireless range if need be. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004YAYM06/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=excharge-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B004YAYM06

The wireless range extender receives weak wireless signals and repeats them to extend the signal range to greater distances. Some models include 4 Ethernet ports in addition to the wireless radio.

Good Luck...

mac os x lion running slow?

probably 10-20 mins into a power-on my macbook pro 13" begins to lag really terribly. i usually starts with video feed like youtube or online movies. the audio will be fine but the video is super choppy; at first it starts out ok then gets worse and worse. although it's not just video feed it's everything; ie typing is lagged webpages lag aps lag, but i think the video feed catalyzes it all. i'm running on 4gbs of RAM so that can't be the problem. i looked at other forums and most advised a clean install but that's this whole ordeal i dont want to get into with putting all my shit on an external hard drive etc etc. is anybody else having this same problem? it's really fucking frustrating and i wanna toe punt a baby when i'm ten minutes into an action movie and you can hear jackie chan punch somebody in the throat but you don't get to see it.

Answer
I only have this issue when running parallels or running something very stressful like a video converter or massive software installation. Go to launchpad and click on utilities. Once there open activity monitor and close any programs you are not using or that are using massive amounts of resources. Also before turning off your mac make sure you have the restart apps button turned off. This will allowed a clean boot with nothing running. Best of luck.

Baby monitors are necessary?

Mccoy

Not long ago at a friend's house see the baby monitor, feeling pretty good, everybody thinks that baby monitor is necessary? Where to buy some affordable baby monitor ?

Answer
A baby monitor is not necessary. It is convenient, but not necessary.

We have an average size home and I could always hear my babies even without the use of a baby monitor, even though we had one. I would sometimes go outside and the baby monitor would not work properly, when it would have been most convenient, because I was too far away.

Then again, my little ones never slept away from me either- they roomed with me.

I found the monitors most convenient when they were OLDER as I could monitor what was going on and stop arguments before they progressed.

What is a baby monitor and how it works?

Amina L

I have an elderly client with this baby monitor. Is it possible to move it just like any other electronic by unplugging it and plugging it in another room? So that if I move from room to room I can still monitor that person. I do not want to mess with it by taking it off without knowing anything about it.
I would like to plug it in another room where I can turn on light and read, not to disturb the client and still hear hear her via the monitor.

Answer
A baby monitor can be 1 way , 2 way, an now they even have one with a camera attached. It usually has a base that you keep with the baby and a hand held you can walk around with. The 2 way allows you to hear the baby and speak back if you want. They work really well and its a great way to keep track of babies and small children while in another room or doing house work.
I have used these many times working in healthcare having elderly patients.

What was your baby checklist?

Kayla

what items where useful and what was a waste of money ??
How long do newborns stay in newborn colthes!?
This is my frist baby and due date is nov 30th.
Thank u

Answer
OMG - I am meaning to go to bed but I just HAD to respond bc my daughter was born on 11/30. Congrats first of all!!!

Heres my tips - dont buy ANY newborn (NB) sized clothes. They will last you a week, IF they ever fit. Go ahead and buy size 1 right from the get go. Same goes for diapers - size 1 will only last you a few weeks, so dont go nuts buying 8 boxes of em at Costco. Other clothing ideas - until baby is 6 mos old, dont even bother with "cute" - look only for comfortable. You will be terrified to put anything over babys head in the beginning to just make sure the necks are loose and stretchy. No buttons/snaps on the back of anything - baby wont like sleeping on them and baby sleeps on his/her back - always. You dont want anything that will irritate babys skin either (some fabrics will cause rashes) - just go with cotton, footed, long sleeve, zip up the front "rompers" as I call them.

Now as far as baby gear goes - Im an absolute expert. Honey, I was put on bedrest at 6 mos and did nothing but shop on line for 3mos. I bought so much crap you would not believe. Guess what, MOST of it I never used (roll eyes). Looking back, I could have a stroke over all the money I wasted. So that said, let me whip up a quick list of must haves and have nots:

Loved It
--------------------------------------

A nice digital camera

Youll need something really warm to come home in - I had a really fluffy snowsuit and hat

Fisher price "Lamb Seat" - baby slept in this really plush bouncy chair, keeping her elevated - less spit up and bc she was strapped in, no rolling over/SIDS scare

Diaper Genie

Exersaucer

Swaddlers with the velcro (worth gold!!!)

Several cotton rompers - no need for anything else, not in the beginning. Itll be too cold for onsies and too difficult to dress baby in jeans and sweaters

Playtex even flow bottles with the large nipples (at 6mos I introduced some formula and these bottles felt like breasts to her so she went back and forth with no problem, plus they dont leak - LOTS of others leak and formula stinks and stains everything - yuck!

Didnt Need It
--------------------------------
Bumbo Seat
Walker (this was a gift, but heads up, these are now regarded as bad for baby)
Make ur own baby food gear
Pack N Play
Changing Station
Fancy bedding for the crib - they recommend you dont use the bumper anyhow and thats the cute part - may as well just buy a regular fitted sheet. Youre not allowed to toss a comforter in the crib with baby, so basically, all the bedding you buy - you cant use.
Dont get caught up in "cute" - EVERYTHING is cute when its small, but you dont need it all
I bought a monitor with a tv so I could watch baby sleep. Never used it, baby was always sleeping in a place I could see her.
Used the high chair only a few times - mostly fed baby on my lap and then before I knew it, she was sitting at the table. I recommend a booster seat that grows with baby - money and space saver!
Stuffed animals and toys - not yet
Special mat for tummy time

Now this is up to you - as far as traveling goes - there are convertible seats out there that you can use for a newborn (rear facing of course). This means you dont NEED to purchase one of thoes infant carriers that lock into the car and you dont need the matching stroller either. I bought the carrier and the travel system stroller. Baby outgrew it rather quickly, so I purchased a convertible (mines Recaro and I LOVE it!!!) that was appropriate for newborns all the way up to 7 years of age and I also bought an umbrella stroller (Maclaren - check them out, great brand!!) that is for newborns all the way up as well. If I knew then what I know now, I woulda saved myself 450 on the other two and never purchased them. You live and learn.

Congrats and Good Luck Momma!!! Hope this helps a bit

PS - Theres a book called "Girlfriends Guide to Baby Gear" and its REALLY good. See if you can get ur hands on a copy.

Correct way to measure the baby belly...?

happygoluc

Whats the correct way to measure the baby belly at the baby shower for when need to try to guess how big. Do you measure all around or just from hip to hip??

Answer
NOTE: You should not need to undress to have your belly palpated but it may be helpful to wear clothes that allow your caregiver to access your belly readily, as this procedure is not usually done through clothing.

What your caregiver looks for each time they palpate your belly varies depending on how many weeks pregnant you are. The following is a guide to the information they try to obtain through an abdominal palpation during the different stages of pregnancy.

From conception to 12 weeks

of pregnancy the uterus is contained within the bones of the pelvis and cannot be felt through the belly. After about 12 weeks, the uterus is large enough to be felt above the pelvis by your caregiver (and you), usually just being able to touch the very top of the uterus or fundus.

Some women having second+ babies find their uterus is a little more bulky from previous pregnancies, making it being able to be felt earlier, possibly after about 10 or 11 weeks. This is also the case if you are having twins or more. If you feel you are 12 weeks pregnant or more and your uterus cannot be felt by your caregiver, it may be that you are not as far pregnant as you first calculated, or perhaps it is a physical sign of a missed miscarriage.

From 12 to 20 weeks

of pregnancy your caregiver feels your belly as part of every routine pregnancy visit. During this phase the baby is not large enough to detect their position, so the main aim of palpating before 20 weeks is just to ensure that the uterus is growing, hopefully at a progressive rate.

By about 16 weeks of pregnancy the top of the uterus or fundus will have grown to about halfway between the pubic hair line and the belly button or navel (felt when lying down). By about 20 weeks of pregnancy the fundus should be close to the level of the belly button. Your caregiver may start using a measuring tape during this time to measure your fundal height, but it is not essential at this stage.
From 20 to 34 weeks

your baby is much larger and now big enough for your caregiver to feel where their head is lying. Unborn babies change position frequently during this phase of pregnancy and are quite often in a breech position (bottom down) or lying across your belly in a transverse position. Your caregiver may be able to guide your hands during this examination so you can feel your own baby's head. Ask them if they can do this at your next pregnancy visit.

The size of your uterus should continue to grow at a progressive rate, being approximately relevant to how far pregnant you are (ie. the baby feels about a 32 week size). Guesses on the baby's birth weight cannot be estimated until the last 2 to 3 weeks of pregnancy. Many caregivers use fundal height measurements as part of monitoring the baby's growth during this phase of pregnancy.

From 34 to 37 weeks

your baby will more than likely move into a head down position, however a few babies still remain in a breech position. Women having twins often find that one baby is head down, while their sibling is breech. Your caregiver feels for your baby's head and perhaps detects which side of your belly their back is laying on (right or left). Babies at this stage do not usually move their head from being down now because their head is much larger and heavier, but their back can move frequently from one side of your belly to the other. At this stage, it does not really matter if your baby's back is anterior (towards your front) or posterior (towards your back).

The size of your uterus should continue to grow, reaching the base of your breast bone or sternum by about 36 to 37 weeks. Again the baby should be growing at a progressive rate but estimates on your baby's birth weight are not really possible yet (although many caregivers try!) Your caregiver may continue to use fundal height measurements, but after 35 to 36 weeks these tend to become irrelevant, because the baby cannot move much further up than the level of your breastbone.

From 37 weeks to birth

your baby should definitely be head down now. If you are having a breech baby you may be scheduled for an ECV to turn the baby to head down position. Although not common, a few babies continue to change position frequently even at this late stage of the pregnancy, being referred to as an unstable lie.

Good recommendations or warnings of what Video/Audio Baby Monitor to buy for my 2young children...10pts...?

Erin R

I am in bad need of a video/audio baby monitor. I have a 1month old and a 20month old. I obviously cant leave them alone together even for a second so Im constantly running from room to room at times.

I need any good recommendations or warnings of which one to buy.
I am willing to spend more for the best one so price is no issue.
I havent looked around much yet and want to get one this weekend.

Answer
I have Graco and it suites my needs. Don't get a cheap one because the sound and clarity are fuzzy. Go more towards the higher end brands. If you try one for a week and decide that it does not suit your needs, simply return or exchange it for a replacement.

Also how would a second play pen in a different room or baby gate work out for you? That may be able to separate them for the times when you need it.

How do I record a wireless video baby monitor?

D S

I have a wireless 1995 "Safety 1st" video monitor. I would like to use it for security purposes, And I have no idea how to record through it while still having it live on the monitor screen. The only port I could find on it said "A/V" above it and all that fits into it is headphones. Please help!

Answer
Not 100% sure this cable will work with that exact CC item, but you need something like it. It may very well work though, and $15 isn't a bad gamble.

I'm not sure which baby monitor to get? First time mum and I worry a lot, please help!?

dizzi

I'm due in October and am just looking for a baby monitor. I have read that the Tommee Tippee and Angelcare (not sure which models) both with sensor pads, and the BT 150 are good. I'm not sure about the sensor pads, I have heard they give a lot of false alarms, plus I don't want to be too paranoid. I know they can be useful for premature babies or those with health conditions, but what about full term healthy babies, is there any need?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Answer
If you are already a worrier the more things your monitor "checks", the more things you're going to worry about. When the breathing monitor isn't going off you'll wonder if it's really working, with video you'll spend your day watching the monitor.

I would suggest a good quality audio monitor with 2 receivers. What will work best for you depends on where you live, in an apartment complex, a house, near an airport...etc.

If you don't have to worry about interference then a model like the Fisher Price "Lights and Sounds" is a great choice. Always rated highly and about $40. It's the model I've used for over 3 years with no problems. If intereference could be a problem, skip the 900 MHz models and go with one in the 2.45 a 2.54 GHz range. The prices are almost the same, and with the 2.xx GHz models you're pretty much guaranteed no interference.

A couple of good choices in that range are the First Years "True Choice digital monitor" ($80), and the Graco "I-vibe" ($90). Both have 2 receivers so you can leave one in your bedroom, and have one to carry around.

Hope this helps,

Alan

9 Wks preggo and heart beating fast is this normal?

Samantha

I walk 4 miles daily, and am in a very good shape, thank God. I am 9 wks preggo and recently started getting tired easily, I feel like I have no energy and that the baby is sucking out all my energy. I can't stand too long or read too fast because, my heart beats fast if I do that and I feel like I'll run out of breath. I wasn't like this b4 this pregnancy. I hope this is normal. It doesn't happen all the time, bt it does when I am standing for too long. I didn't ask my doc yet. Wanted to check with you guys first. Also why do I get too tired. B4 my pregnancy I was soooo energetic and would jog 4 miles without getting tired, bt now all I wanna do it sit and relax and sleep.. What is the cause for this? Thank you guys.

I was taking this class where I had to sit for 8 hrs daily, couldn't do it. Attended one day bt had to quit. Just can't sit for too long. I have to lie down often. It's my first pregnancy and can't wait to give birth already even though I am only 9 wks. I am just not myself anymore :(, I feel like a different person that's lazy and can't do nothing. Someone told me I need to relax til I am at least 3 months and that I work around the house to much and the whole 4 miles thing isn't good for me til at least I am 3 months pregnant.

Answer
Maybe try shorter walks for now. I was going to gym 3 times a before b4 i found out i was pregnant, i now do 2 sessions a week but wear a heartrate monitor. To give u an idea, my normal resting heartrate was 65-70 b4 PG, then once PG increased to about 95, which the doc said was perfectly normal most PG women have a resting heartrate of 90-100. But also when excersing your heartrate to not go above 140-150, so that doesnt leave a lot of room, i just dont do the cardio workouts anymore, just to a bit of walking, light weights, squats etc

Has anyone used a video baby monitor?

Pregnant w

How do they work?
What are the pros and cons?
I am thinking about buying one that you can have two monitors and see two rooms at once and was wondering how many people prefer it.

Answer
Congrats on baby #2!

I couldn't live with out my video monitor!! I have the Summer Infant Day & Night Handheld Color Video Monitor. The picture is so clear both at night and during the day. I love being able to check on my baby with out waking her. I don't even have to get out of bed unless she really needs me! I think if I only had the audio, I would have been getting up a lot more often to investigate every sound, especially during the first few months. The handheld part has a button on top so you can turn off the video screen if the light bothers you at night. Then if you hear something you feel you need to check on, simply click the button and the video comes back on. I read the reviews for this product. Many people say they could not get a signal. I never had a problem. I also read that they can interfere with wi-fi. My husband is a web developer... he never would have allowed wi-fi interference!

I highly recommend this monitor to all my friends. The only con I can think of is that I have had to change the channel due to static. Seriously, it's a flick of a button and I've had to do it maybe 3 times in 7 months. No biggie! I know you can get an extra camera for this monitor, but I don't need one yet. Here is what one person commented: "We bought a second camera to go with the monitor we already had. I love being able to switch back and forth between my two kids' rooms. Only issue is if the monitor is too close to one camera, you can have interference when trying to check on the other one."

Hope this helps.

looking for a baby monitor?

Stella

I am looking for a baby monitor that will work best in my situation.

It will be used in a 2 story townhouse and only for nap times when he is sleeping upstairs and I am downstairs. I don't need it to work outside b/c we don't have a yard. It needs to work with wireless internet without static interference. I am not interested in a motion mat or video. I'd like to find a good one that is relatively inexpensive.

We bought a fisher price one but it has too much static.

Answer
You will find static on all that are analog --- just to varying degrees. Digital monitors aren't prone to interference like analog monitors are. So, digital ones don't get interference from other devices.

I've had two monitors that I really like ... one digital and one analog.

The digital one is by Safety First. It had no static interference, good battery life and good range:

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Safety-1st-High-Definition-Digital-Nursery-Monitor/8342864

The analog one is Sony Baby Call. It does have static, but it has "noise sensing technology" so when the level of ambient noise in the room is constant it shuts off --- so you hear absolutely nothing. When the noise changes (ie: your baby crying, moving around etc) it will turn on. It also has 27 channels to choose from so you are likely to find one with minimal static interference. And, because it shuts off you won't hear any noise coming from the monitor when your baby is asleep.

Do we need a baby monitor in our small apartment?

Lola H

My husband and I are in the process of registering for our first child. When the baby's born we'll be living in an approximately 1,000 sq ft apartment. Is a monitor necessary?

Answer
I would. You dont need anything fancy just a cheap one for 20 or 30 bucks. My house is about 1200sq ft and only one story but it comes in handy when you want to take a shower and baby is sleeping 3 rooms down and you cant hear over the water otherwise. It also came in handy for my husband during the nights. Even though he was only a few doors down my husband is a heavy sleeper and it helped wake him up when he was crying. Little things like that.

buying a baby monitor?

hi we are having twins soon and are thinking of buying this monitor:
http://www.amazon.com/Summer-Infant-Handheld-Monitor-Screen/dp/B001NAATW0/ref=br_it_dp_o?ie=UTF8&coliid=I3TTMBRDDATJ1H&colid=3VLFRXN5N0TET

we want to buy 2 so that we can see each baby individually on two separate monitors --- the babies will be in the same room. do you think having two baby monitors in a room will cause an interference in the image or will one affect the functioning of the other?

thanks
on amazon it seems to be cheaper to just buy two of this rather than buy one and an extra monitor. for the reason the extra monitor is really expensive (much more than the base and monitor)

Answer
I wouldn't think they would cause interference with each other, it runs on a digital signal, not analog. So you should be fine with getting two. That monitor is excellent. I bought the same one for my son. He's 2 weeks old now and i don't have to worry about how he is sleeping or disturbing him if he is, the monitor has a great image and good sound quality.

What is the best baby monitor ?

I have tried a few brands of video & just sound monitors & none of them work in my house! Any suggestions?

Answer
We have had great success with this one:
http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2815256
http://www.amazon.com/Safety-1st-High-Def-Digital-Monitor/dp/B00101TXPG/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=baby-products&qid=1234723001&sr=8-1
Safety 1st High Definition Digital monitor.
We live in the city, so in rather close proximity (houses are only 5-10 feet away from each other), and haven't had any interference with this monitor. There's never any static. The handheld piece can be used while plugged up, or charged. (Great when you forget to charge it!) Also, the lights go off to let you know when noise is happening-- great if you are vacuuming or doing something that would trump the noise coming out of the monitor. I haven't used any other monitors. I did a alot of research, and this seemed like the way to go-- no channels to bother with-- and no worry with interference with other cordless devices.. as its a High Def monitor. I think they also make a video version, but I can't vouch for it...

what is the big deal about babies that are preemeis?

scandalous

why is having a. preemie such a big deal and i hear that preemie babies are wy smaller and more fussy, plus i heard that a premature baby is a big deal to have and i heard that a lot of people have preemies, and that they need a lot of special care, what kind of care is this? and whats the big fus? obviously they are just smaller but why is is such a big deal to have a premature baby is there something about babies being premature that makes the actual mother that gives birth a bad person? i mean is all preemies asociated with like drug abuse or what? i mean preemie this preemie that its seems like such a big deal but what the heck is th big deal about? just because the baby hasnt grown all the way like "normal" babies do before being born? anyone know about this a may give best answer to the longest most in depth answer thanks guys this is really a piece of work question i know, but u can do it!

Answer
Sit & look at your baby who isn't just 'little' but has body shorter than a ruler & weighing less than the leg of lamb you roasted for dinner.Notice his transparent skin & opaque eyes.See the tubes going into his nose & down his throat, IV lines in his legs & arms. His arms & legs pinned to the bed by these IVs so he doesn't accidentally pull them out & bleed to death. The heart monitor plugs covering what little remaining flesh isn't covered by the other equipment, remember to switch your glance between him & the monitor those leads run to so you are certain hes breathing.Hes so little you cant always tell.Just sit & look ,no touching, hes still too little to risk contamination,so of course you cant take him out of the humidity crib for a cuddle, he couldnt survive the temperature changes or breathe the air, he needs the pressure from the crib too, just to keep him alive.Theres no bottles or breastfeeding hes to underdeveloped to suckle, add another tube down his throat into his stomach & feed him through that.
So whats the big deal of being rushed for emergency surgery to deliver a baby you thought wouldnt be here for another 12 weeks, remember you expect to carry for 40 weeks not 28.Wat does it feel like to know that leaving you is the best chance your baby has to live.Isnt a Mother the best to care for her baby? What have you done wrong?Nature can be cruel & medical science steps in to try to put things back to the way they "should be".You beg the Drs not to use a general anesthetic so you could at least see him but he was whisked straight away anyway just a blurr out of the corner of your crying eye. There is lots of activity beyond your vision but no one has the time to tell you what was happening,it was a minute or too before you heard this squeek.Your Husband tells you that whisper was your babys cry.But there was only one, arent babies supposed to cry lots when theyre born, is he ok?You dont know nor does Hubby, bubs already been whisked away, the Dr still there can only tell you they'll do all the can....
How cruel is it to sit & look at this tiny baby & not know if you will ever hold him? IF & it often is a VERY BIG if (though few have the courage to tell you to your face, its when the Dr/nurse doesnt look at your face you hear their true meaning) IF he survives will he be blind, deaf, brain damaged, will there organ damage, will he need surgery to correct brain heomorages at a date earlier than he was ment to be born, the next time he stops breathing (common in prems) will a tap be enough to get him going again? Will he be here when I come back tomorrow, will he be alive when I come back from the toilet?
So whats the big deal when your baby is one month old before you can actually touch & hold him?You still dont know what his quality of life will be, its still to early to tell & some things like brain hemorages can happen without warning & cause massive irriversable damamge. So what if you are battling desperatly to express every 2 hrs day & night,be at the hospital every waking moment. When youre not at the hospital with him you physically ache to be there, when you are there you so desperatly want to be with him at home, away from all of this. Having a baby is a happy joyous experiance, shared with family & friends, but you dont want to complain or feel jeoulous, at least hes still alive & for feeling resentful at what you feel robbed of you also dread the alternative.not needing to go to the hospital because he didnt make it.
Now hes 2 months old hes still in intensive care, theyre saying hes doing really well but still not sure when he can come home.Youve seen babies come into the NICU & then you dont see the Mums anymore, you often know its best not to ask the nurses because there but by the grace of God go you.You learn not to ask many things, think many things but if only you could stop yourself feeling. Feeling the elation at hearing he should move to special care in a day of to only to come crashing down agin when he has a setback, bottle feeding was abit to tiresome and his lung started to deflate but hes ok we got to him before it collapsed but we wont try bottles agin for a week to give him a chance to strengthen.
Do prems just happen to druggies?Nah & you know what if I could have been drugged out of my brain it just may have been easier to cope Bad things also happen to good people.I had an undiagnosed immune disorder which as well as nearly killing me ment my baby was nolonger safe in my body. Both unable to be noruished & running the risk my immune system would start attacking him & kill him. So I also had the added quilt that it was 'my fault' even though it was totally beyond my control it was my body killing my baby. There were bubs had heart defects, blood dissorders & incompatabilities genetic disorders.Mums with uncontrolled diabeties, preeclampsia , premature membrane rupture & other common pregnancy complications that got out of control.

about baby...?

Information
If you shop at Amazon, please use this link (it gives a donation to a baby organization) http://www.babycorner.org/donations.html

To eliminate gas, lay the baby on his back and gently âbicycleâ his legs.

Use Born Free bottles or glass; others have harmful chemicals that are bad for babies.

Breastfeed! Itâs so much better for babies.

Make sure the babyâs butt is completely dry before putting on the diaper to prevent diaper rash. Use a lot of cream with zinc oxide at the first sign of rash (after thoroughly air drying). Wipes can give babies diaper rash so cotton pads and water are better.

I suggest that you get the latest edition of the "Baby Bargains" book as a great buying guide, especially for car seats and cribs, where safety is a big concern.

Love your baby â thatâs what he needs most.

Can you block baby monitor interference?

liss

I bought the summer infant day and night video monitor today. when i began to set it up, i realized that it was picking up someone else's baby's crib perfectly, and picking up their conversation. I know that if I can see them then they can see me. That makes me a little uncomfortable knowing that someone else can watch my daughter and pick up our conversations. Should I return the monitor, or is there something I can do to block the interference?

Answer
I would return it to the store and pick out a different monitor. A Neighbor probably has the same monitor as you bought and that's why it picked up their house. If you can, I would try to find a Digital monitor although I can't think of one with video off the top of my head.

will you pls show the block diagram of the baby monitor machine design?how it works?

Answer
Baby Monitor is BT's first entry into this market. Digital technology means crystal-clear sound quality and no interference. The Baby Monitor Plus has extra features in addition to the Baby Monitor, including an LCD, five lullabies and a temperature monitor. A range of up to 300 metres (in ideal conditions) and an Intercom feature means that a constant link is maintained between parent and baby.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - In cooperation with the U.S Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Gerry Baby Products Company, of Thornton, Colo., is announcing a voluntary recall of approximately 990,000 Model 602 Gerry Deluxe Baby Monitors. Wires inside the monitor may be improperly connected, resulting in the product overheating with the possibility of the monitor causing fire. Another contributing factor is when blankets or other bedding are placed around or on top of the monitor blocking ventilation.

Gerry urges consumers to read all product warnings and instructions accompanying all monitors. Consumers should not place any monitor in the crib, among blankets or bedding, or in any position that interferes with ventilation for the monitor.

Gerry is aware of one fire without injuries involving a Model 602 monitor with this manufacturing error. This information was brought to CPSC's attention by a member of the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI). In addition, CPSC has also received reports alleging Model 602 Baby Monitor involvement in two other fires, including one with a fatality and an injury, and 13 incidents of the monitors getting warm to the touch, including one skin burn. Gerry stated that only one report (no injuries) of these 16 claims was conclusively determined to have been caused by the Model 602 monitor.

The two-piece monitor sets resemble walkie-talkies. The monitors have pale gray and royal blue plastic casing. A red "on" light and a blue "Gerry" label appear on the front of each monitor. The back of the monitors are embossed with "GERRY DELUXE BABY MONITOR MODEL 602" and the manufacturer's date code. The date code appears as a circle of numbers, with an arrow pointing to the number of the month and the two-digit year number on either side of the arrow. This recall involves monitors with date codes "8806" (June 1988) through "9005" (May 1990).

Juvenile product and baby supply stores and department stores sold the recalled monitors nationwide from June 1988 through May 1990. The monitors were packaged in blue cardboard boxes labeled in part, "Gerry Deluxe Baby Monitor...Listen to Your Baby from any Home Location...Gerry Baby Safetronics..."

Consumers who own Model 602 monitors should contact Gerry toll-free at (800) 672-6289 for instructions on how to return the recalled monitors for a free replacement monitor. For more information, consumers should call Gerry, or write to the company at Attn: Building R-602 Recall, 1500 East 128th Avenue, Thornton, CO 80241.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission protects the public from unreasonable risks of injury or death from 15,000 types of consumer products under the agency's jurisdiction.
