I have seen articles and reports that T-Mobile will carry apple products in the new year (2013). When can I expect to see the iphone 5 on T-Mobiles network?

thanks

Answer
I let my friend (coworker) who owns an iPhone 5 use my Note 2 just to compare, and showed him how to use it.

I then asked him why people prefer iPhone 5 over the customization that Android gives. He had no answer to that (he did attempt to say that the iPhone was simpler to use, and I described that the it was true that even babies could use the iPhone, but the Android only takes a day to customize to ones wants and needs), just that he never knew Android had gotten so good. He then offered to trade me his iPhone 5 and a gaming screen he had previously used for his triple monitor setup. I stoutly declined.

This sounds like I'm just trying to spite you because even if the events that I have just tried to describe are false (and they are not), they are impolite.

So I won't educate you on the benefits of the Note 2, and Android as an OS, and why I'm not here to start a war, but merely to inform you that iPhone is definitely starting to fall off as a feature full phone every generation. Every generation, the iPhone is declining. I won't speak of it anymore, and just try answering your question without killing myself over how much a tech geek like me needs to tell you how much better Android is. All you have to do is research and use google anyway if you wanted to know, right?

So about iPhone on T-mobile. You probably won't be seeing the iPhone 5 likely appear in next month. After that, they will be very eager to get the iPhone 5 if they truly are considering offering the iPhone 5 (they already offer the Galaxy Note 2, though... OOPS what am I saying?!?!). So around 3-4 months? Yep very likely.

But don't buy a phone on a contract. You will end up paying more. Do you wonder why contracts lock you in and lower the price on phones? It's not really because they want you to stay (well yes they do), but that they gain a better profit anyway. They lock you into a plan that is very bad compared to prepaid plans so every month you will be shelling out tons more money for tons less service. Let's say you pay $90 every month for the same service you get at $49... There you go. 2 year contract = 12+12 = 24 x 40 = 960. You will be shelling out an extra $960 along with the small fee you payed with the phone when you signed your contract ($200 maybe?).

See, I'm just trying to educate you on what choice you should take: prepaid.

Prepaid? Look at Straight Talk, Solavei, T-mobile Prepaid (hidden because they like you using contracts), there are many great options. Check them out.

Are you in favor of killing babies born alive during abortions?

HORRIFIC: Testimony That Baby âScreamedâ During Live-Birth Abortion click the link below and see what it is like for the baby yes baby , its not a glob. http://www.mrconservative.com/2013/04/11004-baby-screams-during-live-birth-abortion. By the way Obama voted for this 4 times and is in favor of it.

Answer
If the baby comes out alive, it should immediately be taken and put up for adoption. If a baby comes out breathing and/or screaming, it is flat-out murder to end its life. I'm sorry. There really is no arguing that point no matter what side of the fence you are on the topic. Now how to ensure compliance? Well, you would think a medical doctor would already have the ethics to do this, but I guess not. I suppose a mandatory videotaping of all abortions or a live, real-time monitoring of them, and the criminal charging of doctors who kill live babies.

What Is a good Baby Monitor?

Pam

I've been looking on amazon for a baby monitor but it seems like all the reviews i read contradict each other. i was hoping someone could compare the experiences they had with baby monitors and talk about which brands they loved or hated

Answer
Hi Pam,

It depends on your budget and what you want from a baby monitor. Basically there are three ways of monitoring; audio, video, or movement sensing. Generally the cheaper baby monitors are just audio ones, and the more expensive options use video. For under $100, I can recommend the Angelcare Baby Movement and Sound Monitor or for a video monitor, the Levana Jena. For higher end baby monitors, the Samsung SEW-3037W and the Levana Astra are both good choices.

Can anyone recommend a good baby video monitor with pan/tilt feature?

Apey

Answer
The Samsung SEW-3037W is a great video monitor with pan/tilt and zoom features. It also comes with night vision, good quality audio and good battery life. You might also want to consider the Levana Astra. This model has really good battery life.

The Motorola MBP36 is also a popular choice, but I think the above mentioned models are better

I am worried that we are going to be too controlled & monitored. Having little freedom or rights left. Like computer chips being placed directly in babies as they are born. Is there a way for us to all join together to stop something like this from happening? Maybe a place to hide? I am thinking New Zealand or a tiny island off the southern coast of Spain.. What do you think things will be like in the future?

Answer
2010s - The Rise of the Second Russian empire. A new cold war will be fought between America and an autocratic Russia attempting to build another empire. Poland will become a major ally of the United States in this cold war. The Islamic jihadists will slowly be pushed underground as slowly a more conservative Turkey will impose it's dominance over the Islamic world. China will reach the peak of its financial strength towards the end of this decade or the start of the next one. India will rise at a slower rate than China, but the stability of its government will continue the economic expansion longer. In the United States and Europe privacy rights will be expanded as people become more and more concerned.

2020s -- America and its ally Poland will emerge as the winners in the second cold war against Russia. Turkey will be the de fato leader of the Islamic world and will start to crash with American interests more. China will collapse as the world's new super economic power. Declining birth rates caused by the one child policy will cause China to have way too many old people to support. The mass amounts of corruption and bad loans to internal parties will prove the Chinese system is not superior to the Western World. There will be massive internal China political fights between the wealthy coasts and the poor internal Chinese. China will act in one of two ways to solve this problem: Seal China off from the world or fragment along geopolitical areas. Most likely China of the 2020s will look at a political level a lot like China of the 1920s. India will emerge as the expected economy to over take America. Japan, as the second largest economy in the world, will try to again assume de fato political power over areas of China, but this time by money, not guns. The first solar energy collectors will be placed in orbit and will start to beam their power back to Earth by microwaves. This will start to spell the doom for nations those primary export is oil.

2030 -- Computers will be monitoring us 24/7, but with the primary purpose of watching our health. A computer will notify emergency units of someone having a heart attack before it actually happens. Privacy laws will be very tough; however, it will be easy to monitor anyone. America will be starting another long economic expansion as the World's most powerful economy. Americans will start to worry about the number of Indian imports.

How do you look after a sparrow???

jkjkjkjsss

I am getting a sparrow egg from a friend, I need help!!!! I need to know how to keep the egg warm enough so it will hatch. And I need to know how to feed and care for it as a baby and on through life. HELP!!!!!

Answer
A sparrow egg? Most sparrows are protected under federal law (Migratory Bird Treaty Act) and it is illegal to have these protected birds, their eggs, their nests or even their feathers.

" Anyone desiring to possess migratory birds or their parts or products should be aware that all of these are covered under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act (16U.S.C. 703-712), which implements a series of international treaties designed to protect migratory birds.

Some key provisions of the Act are worth keeping in mind:

Wording of the Act makes it very clear that most actions that result in "taking" or possession of a protected species or its parts or products is a violation of the Act. Specifically, the Act states:
"Unless and except as permitted by regulations, â¦it shall be unlawful at any time, by any means, or in any mannerâ¦to pursue, hunt, take, capture, kill, â¦possess, offer for sale, sell, â¦purchase, importâ¦any migratory bird, any part, nest, or eggs of any such birdâ¦"
It is a "strict-liability" law, meaning that there is no requirement for law enforcement agencies to prove "intent" to violate the law. That is, if you are found in possession of a protected species or its parts or products, you are automatically in violation of the law.
The provisions of the Act are nearly absolute; "...except as permitted by regulations ..." is the only exception. Some examples of permitted activities that do not violate the law are legal hunting of specific game birds, legitimate research activities, display in licensed zoological gardens, and bird banding under an appropriate permit.
The Act covers the great majority (83%) of all native birds found in the U.S. Many of the species not covered by the Act are covered by the Endangered Species Act , other Federal laws, or state laws, many of which are as stringent as the Migratory Bird Treaty Act . In the lower 48 states, all species except the house sparrow, feral pigeon, common starling, and non-migratory game birds like pheasants, gray partridge, and sage grouse, are protected.
Penalties upon conviction can be severe. Even if a sympathetic jury finds that you meant no harm in trying to rear an abandoned nestling or in picking a hawk feather, legal defense costs are clearly not worth the risk."
http://www.npwrc.usgs.gov/about/faqs/birds/feathers.htm

If you are getting an egg of an unprotected species (the English House Sparrow), I urge you not to hatch it. The English House Sparrow is an invasive species that displaces native species of birds, including the Eastern Bluebird, whose nesting boxes are regularly taken over by the English House Sparrow.

"The House Sparrow, Passer domesticus (also known as the English Sparrow), is actually not a sparrow at all but a weaver finch introduced to this country from Europe in the mid-1800s. The male is easily identified by its black throat and chest, which makes him appear as if he is wearing a bib. The female is much harder to discern and can easily be confused with fox, song and field sparrows, to name only a few.

Unlike predatory birds such as hawks which are part of the food chain, House Sparrows will work relentlessly to destroy other birdsâ eggs and young - for no apparent reason other than their determination to take over the bird world. They do not kill for food.

Iâve often come across nesting boxes where House Sparrows killed adult Bluebirds and Tree Swallows as they sat on their eggs. Then theyâd begin building a nest right on top of them!

In the past, the English Sparrow preferred urban areas. But sparrow problems have recently been increasing in more rural spots. Nesting boxes may be one reason. Well-intentioned people hoping to attract native cavity-nesting birds may actually be doing greater harm by not monitoring their boxes regularly, allowing House Sparrows to proliferate at an alarming rate."

Answer
Sounds rather bad to me.

Here are the pieces of information that turn me off:

"Camera effective pixels: 16.1 megapixels"
Too many MP. That causes needlessly much image noise in low light situations. MP are NOT a measure of image quality!

"Optical Zoom: 21x
Focal Length: f=4.5â94.5mm (25â525mm in 35mm equivalent) / (27â567mm in 35mm equivalent in video recording)"

Such excessive optical zoon is detrimental to image quality.

"Aperture: F3.1â5.8 / two-step (F3.1/F8.9(W) / F5.8/F16.7 (T))"
These maximum aperture figures are rather poor. This further excarbates any problems in low light situations or to sustain sufficient shutter speeds at extreme zoom.
Low numbers are better here.

Then again, these specs may perhaps be reasonable for a superzoom camera - but that type of camera usually sacrifices image quality for convenience. These cameras offer the worse image quality compared to other point and shoot cameras at the same price figure.

what is a good camera to use as a beauty guru?

Mantha Mon

it needs to be able to focus zoom in and out hmm...take pictures maybe have a remote but its okay if it doesn't great quality takes pics with good quality and does video with good quality...i need like one that give off the right color like if a eyeshadow was light baby blue i want it to look the same on camera as it does in real life....or at least a little like that...and if you can please do a specific one...not just like "the sony brands are goood" not that like a specific like "sony:blah blah blah the naame of camera" and how much it cost were i can buy or a link to were i can buy...thanks!

Answer
Nikon D5000 would do what you want. It is 12.3 MP and will shoot HD video. It has a 2.7 inch fold out vari-angle LCD monitor makes it easier to compose your shots from difficult angles, the ISO range of 100-6400 should cope with most lighting conditions.

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikond5000/

I use Nikon cameras and have done for years which is why I recommended that camera.
That does not mean that there are not other cameras by other manufacturers that would suit your needs.
You should read more reviews then go into a camera shop and actually handle some cameras to see how they feel to you.

How often do you have a Sonogram?

I had an appointment today and the doctor just use a doppler to hear the babies heart, I had a sonogram at 18 weeks and Im 25 now, my next appointment is in 1 month. Is this right that she doesnt see how the baby is growing? I dont even know if I will have one next time, I worry a lot and just want to make sure my baby is ok

Answer
you are supposed to have one or two sonograms thoroughout your pregnancy. it is not healthy to have many because radiation is used to view your child in the wound and too much radiation is not good. frequent sonograms are only given to older women who may be at risk during pregnancy. i have one at 6 months and then i convinced my doctor to give me another at 8 months because i wanted to make sure the growth process was still the same. however, you will have a doctor's appointment once every month until you are 8 months. you will then have then every two weeks until you are 9 months. after that you will have them every week until the baby comes. the more to the end the doctors will want to monitor your growth and make sure everything is right. also, with every visit expect to always here the baby's heart rate. it is only normal.

Question about flying on an airline and pregnancy?

Opaque

I am currently 5 weeks and 2 days pregnant and next week Oct 15-20th I'll be going from Seattle to LA (2 hour flight) and I heard that being on an air plane high in the air brings you closer to higher levels of space radiation then compared to on the ground. By the time I'm on my trip I'll be 6 weeks and 2 days along. After two miscarriages I want this baby to be healthy and to stay pregnant. I already payed for everything and I'm going to LA with my aunt for my birthday. Is anything about the radiation true and what should I do?

Answer
I'm a former Flight Attendant and I flew with all three of my pregnancies and all three babies were fine. I also flew much longer flighst (between California and Europe) and it wasn't a problem.

I had coworkers who flew their entire pregnancies and I've never heard of anything going wrong. We were allowed to work until 31 weeks (I didn't for medical reasons, nothing to do with radiation).

Yes, you are exposed to more radiation than you normally are on the ground but for such a short time and the amount is not significant.

What I do recommend is that you get help with your bags on both ends. Can your aunt handle them by herself? Before leaving, see your doctor and ask if you can get a sonogram to make sure everything is okay. Have you seen the heartbeat yet? Are they monitoring your hormone levels?

There are women who have medical issues with flying and pregnancy, for example cervical problems or blood pressure. This is FAR too early in your pregnancy to have anything like this happen.

A short flight shouldn't affect your pregnancy so go and have a good time. Hope the third time is the "charm" and good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!

What baby monitor do you have? Are you happy with it?

baby monitor on sale image
Q. This has been a toughie for me and hubby. The reviews on all baby monitors are very mixed, and neither brand nor price really seem to have anything to do with whether or not people like a monitor. Just wondering what you have and use, and maybe what you've used in the past. What have your experiences been like with those brands?

Answer
We picked up a used 'first years' one at a garage sale...it works fine...but our rooms are so close together at one end of the house, that we wind up just turning it off.

My sister used an 'Angelcare' one...it works fine too...

They're generally all pretty good...it just depends on whether you want 'bells and whistles' with it or not.

Ways to save money with having a baby?

Watermelon

I want to try for baby over the next year, and I posted a question on what the costs of having a baby are (such as everything that needs to be purchased) and someone suggesting asking a question about what ways there are to save money with having baby (thanks for the suggestion!!!)

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

Answer
-get whatever you can secondhand- from garage sales, craigslist, friends, wherever

- limit the stuff you get and choose ways of caring for your baby that take less stuff. For example, my partner and I plan on getting a baby sling and not a stroller. A sling is cheaper and we think it will be better for the baby to be carried by us close to us where he/she can see our faces and the faces of other people (as opposed to seeing knees and feet whenever we go out anywhere.) Other examples- if your baby is sleeping in the same room as you, no need for a baby monitor and if you cosleep, no need for a crib/baby bed. (Common practice in the country where I live and it helps prevent SIDS - Asian countries have lowest SIDS rates in the world and highest cosleeping rates)
There are a lot of choices like this, and different options, so don't give in to the marketing that says you need an expensive crib, stroller, toys, etc. Do the research and figure out what things will work for you. (Different people will have different things they consider necessary- some moms I know swear by their strollers and cribs, it's just not for me and my family.)

I am looking to buy a video baby monitor through walmart. I am looking at the Graco iMonitor Baby Video Monitor, the Summer Infant 900 MHz 2.5" Color Handheld Video Monitor, and the MobiCam Ultra Wireless Color Video Monitor System. I have read reviews on all of them and have compared all of the features but still do not know which one would be best. Can anyone give me any input please? Thanks!!!!!!

Answer
Hi! Well since no one else answered your question I just thought to give some input from my experience. Perhaps you haven't yet had your baby? I was the very same way. I went out and planned every last product to put into my nursery: $200 bassinette, expensive travel system, breast pump set, sounds n lights baby monitor (fisher-price) etc. He won't sleep in the bassinette, the travel system is nice but the stroller that went with it is so big and bulky and so inconvenient and heavy to unload that I never us it. I used the breast pump only a few times because my milk didn't come in properly. The monitor is rarely used because I carry the baby with me everywhere in the house (in his carrier) but sometimes when I have the right batteries for it, I use it when I am outside visiting neighbors. I guess my point in saying all of this is that I think you should wait until the baby comes and you know for sure what will work for you and also you won't waste a lot of time and money on stuff that you regret and never use.

what is the best baby sound/video monitor in the market today?

free_chloe

Would i really need a video monitor for my baby? Our bedrooms are on the second floor, and I do most household chores on the first floor. Would the sound monitor be sufficient?

Answer
We got the "Day and Night Handheld Color Video Monitor" made by Summer Infant Products from Babies R Us for about $170. We have 3 floors, and the recpetion is great. It also has the IR light so you can see your baby at night from anywhere else (as well as hear him/her).

I recommend it! :-)

Can your neighbors listen in on your phone conversations with a baby monitor ?

Lady

If you're on your cordless phone in your home? I've heard that its possible for neighbors with baby monitors to do this to their neighbors, and I wouldn't think this would work, unless my cordless phone acts as a monitor.

Answer
It's possible if the phone and the monitors work in the same broadcast frequency.

Most do not, however. Modern cordless phones operate in the 2.4ghz wavelength, and older ones operate in the 900mhz wavelength (the newest ones operate in the 5.2ghz wavelength, but don't worry about those).

Most baby monitors work in the 300-900mhz wavelength, so a few of them *can* pick up on older cordless phones, but those that do are few and far between... especially becase every phone and monitor is coded to only pick up a very specific frequency around their specified range... so crosstalk is less likely.

What is the best 2 room video baby monitor?

Kristin

I would like to get a baby video monitor but I want it in both kids rooms with only one monitor screen. What is the best one on the market for the cheapest price. Or...is there a video system out that has only one camera that I can order a 2nd camera separate for?

Answer
Hi

Like any other products, baby monitors need to suit your lifestyle and satisfy your requirements, even to the slightest of details. So before you purchase one, try to dwell on a number of factors first. These things will not only serve as your guide, they will also help you pick out the best type or brand for your little one.

Some of the things you need to consider are:

Range
Portability
Levels of Interference
Video Monitoring Options

There are more details at the link in the source box about the Best Baby Monitors and I hope they help

Is 147 a high number after taking the 1 hour glucose test while pregnant?

baby monitor 5.8 on Panasonic On the Go, Wet/Dry Hair/Beard Trimmer, ER2403K | drugstore ...
baby monitor 5.8 image

kim

I am 27 weeks pregnant and apparently I failed the 1 hour diabetes screening, I have to take the 3 hour one next week. I am nervous, What if I fail that one too? Does that mean that I am going to have a large baby? Will I need to have a c-section?

Answer
The glucose tolerance test really isn't a "pass/fail" type of test. What it is designed to be is a diagnostic tool to see if a 3 hour fasting glucose tolerance test is warranted. Usually, the target number for the 1 hour test is under 140. So, at 147, it is not "high", but it is elevated and puts you in the position of taking the 3 hour test. It is very normal for pregnant women to have an elevated number with their 1 hour test. It does not mean anything other than you should take the 3 hour test to be screened for Gestational Diabetes. Most women with elevated numbers for the 1 hour test go on to have glucose numbers in the normal range for the 3 hour test. Only around 5-8% of pregnant women develop Gestational Diabetes. It can be worrisome whenever you have to take any type of test. I developed Gestational Diabetes with my 4th pregnancy. At first, I was quite upset, but as I became more knowledgeable about the condition, I found there were many things I could do help me and my baby stay as healthy as possible. It was challenging, but certainly manageable. It is true that some babies born to moms with Gestational Diabetes are born at higher than average birth weight. Not all are, though. My baby was born at 41 weeks and she weighed 6 pounds 14 ounces. Usually, a mom with Gestational Diabetes will be monitored closely througout her pregnancy and things like excessive rate of growth for the baby are detected early enough that a c-section isn't usually warranted. In addition to having Gestational Diabetes I was also 38 years old, so I was considered "high risk". I began weekly prenatal appointments at 32 weeks. Each appointment was a normal prenatal visit with the typical weight check, blood pressure check, urine sample, etc. In addition, I also met with the diabetic nurse who went over my glucose numbers with me as well as my meal plan, making adjustments when necessary. I was able to manage my Gestational Diabetes with a specific meal plan set up for me as well as testing my blood gluose 4 times each day. I did not need insulin, but some women do. I also had a weekly non-stress test and an ultrasound beginning at 32 weeks. Some women with Gestational Diabetes do need to be induced early due to complications. Inductions have a higher risk of leading to c-sections. However, it is not a given that a woman with Gestational Diabetes has to be induced early nor will it lead to a c-section. It is, however, a possibility. I understand the nerves you are feeling. I think if you follow your doctor's instructions and go in for the 3 hour test (usually you have to fast), that the chances of you having Gestational Diabetes are small. Even if you do have it, focus on finding out as much information as you can. I read everything my doctor gave me plus asked a lot of questions. The more I learned, the more confident I became that I could get through this and I could do things to help ensure the most positive outcome.

What are the healthrisks associated with breastfeeding while pregnant?

Yuppy

I am 7 weeks pregnant and have a 5 1/2 month old infant that I have been exclusively breastfeeding until recently (just started solids about one month ago once a day). I am breastfeeding on demand (about 5-8 times a day). My first OB appt. was today with the nurse practitioner and she suggested that I ween my baby from the breast... I want to breastfeed him for at least one year but I need to know what reprocussions I could face if I do. She said it would be too much for my body to handle. I am waiting to hear back from the LLL on this but in the meantime, does anyone have any facts on the subject? I really do not want to ween him so maybe some suggestions would be helpful. Thank-you!!!
Also, I know that if you are high risk, it can lead to pre-term labor: that is a non-issue for me I have had a healthy full-term baby.

Answer
You've run into a common problem . . . OBs who don't know what to do with moms who breast feed. Ok, I'm a little irritable about OBs, but anyway. . . it's not their fault, since many of them (or their instructors) were taught BFing was bad, back in the day. Anyway, you're right to try to arm yourself with information.

Breastfeeding while pregnant is usually safe and if you are willing, you can breastfeed both children after the new baby comes. There are some things to pay attention to when you are BF and pregnant. Obviously, you have increased calorie needs, since you need to fuel your body, make milk for baby #1, and help baby #2 develop. Also, your calories need to be fairly nutrient rich to ensure your health (both babies will get nutrients before you, so eat well to ensure you don't get sick). A few months into pregancy, many women notice some change in milk ( in amount and/or consisitency). Some babies find that unpleasant and wean. Others don't care. Prepare to monitor your nursling to make sure he/she is having plenty of wet/dirty diapers and is gaining weight. Obviously, if your nursling is not getting enough milk, you may have to use supplemental formula. Get as much info as you can via the web and your lactation consultant, and prepare to discuss it with your doctor. Good luck!

How do you get back to horses after having kids?

I'm a stay at home momma to two wonder kids, but I really miss riding. Just wondering how other horsey moms do it.

Answer
It is not easy to juggle ;-) I have 4 girls, they are 7yo twins, 5yo and 3yo.

I found it particularly hard to get back into riding after my twins. I was fine for the initial 3 months and bought a new dressage horse and was even back having lessons.

Unfortunately one had a brain haemorrhage and I was not able to ride for virtually 2 years. We live on our own large property and my horses are at home with me. However I have no family support near by (we are in a rural area) or anyone that can watch my children for me to ride.

Once I had made my decision to get back in the saddle on a regular basis, I needed to find a way to make it work without inconveniencing my husband too much as he is busy on the farm.

I took one of the paddocks right beside my house and turned it into an arena. This way I was close enough to the house that the baby monitor worked. I have one with a LCD screen and sound, so I never missed anything and could literally get off the horse and into the house in the time it would take someone to get up the stairs. A 2 hour nap was plenty of time to ride.

I built a child proof pool fence play area between my house and arena. I could watch them play while I was riding and they could sit there if they wished and watch me riding. A great way to desensitize a horse to trampolines and other child noises ;-)

As the girls got older it certainly got easier when they were going to school. Although I still have one at home during the day, one child is easier for hubby to take in the tractor or for me to arrange to ride on days he is doing work he can have a toddler with him in safety.

I'm counting down to next year because she will be in preschool and I will be able to have regular set lesson days (unless kids are sick).

~ My main way of being out with the horses with only one child (way too hard with twins) is to get the 3yo involved also. If I'm leading horses I throw her on top of the quietest one (with a helmet), she comes with me to rug and unrug twice a day and when my older girls are riding I put her on the Shetland so she is apart of the action also.

You have not said how old your children are? If they are older then get some lessons for them also, it is lovely to ride with your children. If they are younger and you don't have someone to mind them, then leave them in the pram at the gate. I spent many hours at the gate of the dressage arena while my mum was riding.

My mum rode with all 3 of us kids and never missed a beat in competition (eventing). Dad was a truck driver so he did not mind us much. She either had us in the pram at the gate or on the front of the saddle with quieter horses. We were all 5 years apart, so she got one child off to school and then had the next one arrive ;-)

If your riding at a lesson school, I would seriously ask the people if they had someone available to watch your children while you had a 30 minute lesson. You pay the staff member for their time, it should only be their hourly wage and would not be much. Any smart business person would do this on a fortnightly or monthly basis until your kids are at school. They get business and have not lost money if you have paid the staff member. Worth a shot!

If you don't have support and are riding at a place that wont allow you to have the child on site. Don't forget about community based programs for child care. There are a few around that will offer parents respite care for people with multiple children, children with disabilities or single parents. I don't know if any of those fit your situation, but it is worth looking what is available in your area.

Last but not least, ask hubby for some "me" time. I'm happier when I'm physically active and riding. It keeps me strong physically and mentally. The benefits run right through the family home when your feeling good about yourself and fulfilled.

Good luck ;-)

How much is too much for a baby monitor?

mizzms

I bought a baby monitor off of ebay yesterday for $14 that retails at $75. My husband had a fit because he wants a video baby monitor...infact..the one he wants is just shy of $200....Don't you think this is too much for a baby monitor? Most people will only use it once..maybe twice..
need i also say..that our baby is never out of our sight really? He sleeps in our room..we have him sleep in a cradle downstairs until we go to bed...we only got one just in case we ever need to use it..

Answer
I don't think the video monitor is necessary. i wouldn't spend more than 40 bucks on my monitor. I hardly used it and I ahve two kids. Its almost like people buying that sterilization thing for baby bottles....????? Whats wrong with a pot of boiling water? Works just as well and its a heck of a lot easier on the wallet

I'm looking to buy a home fetal heart monitor and was wondering what is the best one to buy? Any suggestions? Thank you!

Answer
My sister gave me one last night that works wonderfully! It's called Baby Sound and she said she bought it for $65 at a medical supply store. She got it when she was pregnant and could hear her baby's heartbeat at 12 weeks! I am 24 weeks currently and was able to pick up my little girl immediately, so it works VERY well.

Just remember, you get what you pay for. My sister got a good deal on this one, but the $40 ones you can get at Wal-Mart DO NOT work very well and can't get the heartbeat until very late in pregnancy.

Has anyone used the summer brand fetal heart monitor?

alex

I am 17 and a half weeks pregnant and I bought the summer brand fetal heart monitor at babies r us today. I tried to use it and heard mostly loud, annoying static and once I got it to quiet down while pressed against my belly i still couldn't hear much of anything. I am just wondering if anyone else has used this product successfully. I know I am still about 8 weeks early for when they suggest to start using it for best results but I am sort of curious about if it will even work then.

Answer
Personally, I think they're all crap :(
I haven't had any luck with the ones you can buy at BRU or other stores. At 17.5 weeks, you should be able to pick up a HB with a doppler.
You would've been better off renting one of the good ones from one from the rental websites.
Can you return the ones from BRU?
