Video baby monitor with ip capabilities?

Jack

Twin baby girls on the way and my wife and I are looking for a video baby monitor. I would happily throw down some more dough if they made a video baby monitor with ip capabilities so I can watch them at work. I would buy just a good ip camera but I cant find anything that can link a wireless handset to it. If there are any solutions without having both a monitor and then a separate camera please let me know. Thanks.
The ip setup isnt the big deal. The problem is that we'd like to set up a portable monitor (as seen with regular vid baby monitors) to use around the house. The home portable monitor would be the primary use, while the ip settings will be my selfish way to still be with all three of my girls =)~... Let me know if theres means to accomplish =) thanks.

Answer
I have heard of a friend-of-friend who uses the following setup as a dog monitor (to watch the dog from home via webcam) which might work for you:

1. wireless IP camera setup to view whatever you're after,
2. create a skype account to run at home,
3. set the skype account to use the IP camera for video calls and
4. set the skype account to auto-answer incoming video calls.

he can then video-call from his own skype account at work to the dog's account and see what's going on throughout the day. and the camera can be moved to a new location without moving the computer.

the catch is, you can't operate the panning of the IP camera via skype. if you need this, perhaps something like Team Viewer might be better - it's a remote desktop app free for non-commercial use, that will let you remote in to your home computer and access the IP camera controls that way (Team Viewer is REAL easy to use).

for your case, I suppose you'd want sound as well, so seek out an IP camera with mic (if you want to hear them) or with both mic and speakers (if you want them to hear you too).

**Edit** Oh, I see what you mean - you want a portable receiver unit with a screen to relay the video to. I had a poke around and came up with not alot.

I can find wireless cameras with receivers (usually 4 cams + 1 receiver) - ie. glorified baby monitors,
and I can find a couple of iPhone apps to receive a signal from an IP Camera (see links below), but no IP Camera portable receiver.

Can anyone suggest a good room monitor for my senior dad?

Mary B

I am now at home caring for my 80-something parents. I have a small garage apartment at one end of the house, my dad's bedroom is at the other (about 100 feet from the apartment's bedroom). Is there a baby monitor that has a strong enough signal to reach 100 feet? My dad is at the point that he sometimes forgets to put his oxygen on and has fallen some in the last 6 months. I would feel better if I could "keep an eye on him", so to speak. Can anyone offer any suggestions on this?

Answer
first of all you need to get with some support group, and learn that you can't be there every second of every day to be there for your parents, and therefore you take things as they occur. While I remember a home had a baby monitor (audio) where I did HHA work, I'm wondering if one of those things you hang around your neck and press the button when you need help wouldn't be a better thing. While younger people would use cell phones and keep them on their person I don't know an elder person would remember which button to push. There is something in our area that allows you to watch every room in your house from your cellphone, and even if you are at the office you can talk with someone who is buzzing at your home's front door. My first instinct would be something like this would be better. There's always skype too but the computer would have to be on all day and only in one room. Talk with a knowledgeable electronics tech in an electronics store and ask a lot of questions about what's available.

buying a baby monitor?

Peqo

hi we are having twins soon and are thinking of buying this monitor:
http://www.amazon.com/Summer-Infant-Handheld-Monitor-Screen/dp/B001NAATW0/ref=br_it_dp_o?ie=UTF8&coliid=I3TTMBRDDATJ1H&colid=3VLFRXN5N0TET

we want to buy 2 so that we can see each baby individually on two separate monitors --- the babies will be in the same room. do you think having two baby monitors in a room will cause an interference in the image or will one affect the functioning of the other?

thanks
on amazon it seems to be cheaper to just buy two of this rather than buy one and an extra monitor. for the reason the extra monitor is really expensive (much more than the base and monitor)

Answer
I wouldn't think they would cause interference with each other, it runs on a digital signal, not analog. So you should be fine with getting two. That monitor is excellent. I bought the same one for my son. He's 2 weeks old now and i don't have to worry about how he is sleeping or disturbing him if he is, the monitor has a great image and good sound quality.

Are there any video baby monitors that actually work and are worth the money?

ajoytalent

I havent read any good reviews yet.. please let me know.
Thanks

Answer
http://www.target.com/Summer-Infant-Babys-Sounds-Monitor/dp/B000B6MKTC/sr=1-4/qid=1199901741/ref=sr_1_4/602-8858426-5972664?ie=UTF8&index=target&rh=k%3Ababy%20monitors&page=1

We have this one above and loved it. You can't put a cell phone next to it or does that buzzing thing, but it picks up the babies noises down to breathing softly.
I liked that I could turn the monitor off, and the sound down and the lights would flash if she was making some noise..then I could either turn the monitor on or the sound and decide if I needed to go in there.

Even with the buzzing once in a while it was great.

newborn baby checklist?

Ashley Kas

so i am a young teen mom well soon to be mom and me and my boyfriend were wondering if somebody could give us a newborn baby check list so we know what to get for our little baby we do not know if its a boy or girl yet please help us also if you have some new parenting tips for how to take care of a newborn baby plz feel free to give us your ideas we need all the help we can get

Answer
Being young I'm assuming you're not rolling in money ;) There are many "essentials" that you really actually don't need. A change table is handy and comfortable, but not necessary. You can lay the baby on your bed or on a rug on the floor for nappy/clothes changes. Unless you're living in a big place, you probably won't need a baby monitor. We've got a decent 3 bedroom home and bought one when we were expecting our first, but really, the baby cries loud enough for you to hear them anyway. Don't buy too many toys, if any at all. It'll be a long time till they'll even notice them, in which time others may have given them as gifts or you may have had their first Christmas when you can buy them for them. "Baby" towels are nice if you can afford them, but otherwise an adult towel will still do the exact same thing.

-A good stash of newborn size nappies (in case you don't want to go to the shops for the first week or so)
-Baby wipes (don't just buy the cheapest you can find, because they probably won't work. They'll be ridiculously thin and dry out as soon as you open the packet - found this out the hard way. But you also don't need the most expensive and fancy ones either.)
-Not sure what climate you live in, but have a few jumpsuits and other clothes in both size 0000 and 000 (if you see them on special) because they'll probably fit in the 0000 and you want them ready to go, but they might come up as big bubbas and need the 000. DO NOT take any tags off until you're about to dress them, that way what doesn't fit/get used and can be taken back for a refund (if you kept the receipt) or you can swap them for clothes that do fit.
-Plenty of cloths and/or bibs for wiping up baby spew
-2-3 baby wraps (I would go with muslin in case your baby is born during warmer weather and you still want to wrap them. If where you live is cold, you can always warm them up with an extra blanket or warmer clothes under the wrap)
-2-3 baby blankets
-cot
-if baby is born in colder weather, about 2 beanies to keep their little head warm
-a pair of mittens is good to keep hands warm and prevent their nails scratching them, but not really necessary if your budget doesn't allow for them.
-Baby bath wash (my favourite is Johnson & Johnson Top to toe)
-Baby powder and nappy rash cream (you don't want to only buy these once your baby has a rash, you'll want them handy so you can deal with it immediately and not have to wait till the next time the shop is open)

For you - plenty of maternity pads and breast pads (if you run out and send your boyfriend out for more, you should give him the packet to take to the shops with him so he comes back with the right ones).

Parenting tip - ask everything! No matter how silly it sounds, if you're unsure, ask. And be specific if you need to be. Good luck :)

I would like to hook up my xbox 360 up to my HD samsung moniter. HOW? lol?

Coltin

Ok i have an xbox 360 with alot of great games. but a suckish tv. lol. but i have a nice computer Monitor. i love it its a samsung 19" HD baby! lol. i would like to hook up my xbox up to it. how can i do this. can someone please tell me the stuff i need and how much it is at any major store. i dont use ebay or anything i just assume go to the store and pick it up. please answer.
My Monitor has a VGA port and i have the arcade eddition

Answer
Im not entirely sure but i believe xbox does not have a specific port for the HDMI cord, which is used to transmit the Standard definition or SD to HD. I think you put the normal cables into the moniter, then there is a switch in the back of the xbox that should say SD and HD or something similar. When your plugged in, switch to the HD setting, and enjoy playing

My HD 4870 Mobility from ATI/AMD started screen flickering WHATS WRONG?!!?!?

johng

k so i got 2 BSODS (Blue screens of death) on my 5 day old m17x and now i ran crysis warhead and all the debris starts going multi colored and also whenever an explosion near me happens, screen goes multi colored. Yellow green from top right corner fades to dark blue bottom left corner

this thing has been my baby. havnt dropped it or spilled water on it or anything. GPU overheated? i highly doubt that cuz ive been monitoring temps and it hasnt passed 50 degrees celsius
Edit: Im downloading drivers right now and i REALLY hope its not overheated, can't wait another 2 months to get another :(

btw its comparable to most desktops so its powerful enough i know

Answer
Sounds like you may have to do some warranty return work. I would normally have suggested an overheating cause.

Try running other games, or an intense video benchmark http://www.ozone3d.net/benchmarks/fur/ and see if that has the same problem.

Baby Heart Monitor?

Q. I bought a baby heart monitor, I don't know if it was because it was cheap (20 dollars), but it said that i would be able to hear kicking and hiccups and stuff. I am only 4 months pregnant and it says you wont be able to hear the heart beat until 5. I was just getting ansy and wanted to make sure everything is still OK. We tried it on my belly and I heard lots of noises, then we tried it on my boyfriend and heard the exact same noises. Do they even work??
After reading your answers I guess my 20 dollars could have been better spent on CRAVINGS!

Answer
yea-some of them dont work until 8th or 9th month-it really just depends on how strong your babys heartbeat is.
and you have to be very precise & know exactly where baby's heartbeat is to actually find it .

9 times out of 10--the heartbeat you are hearing is your own.
next time you are at your doctors and he/she checks for baby's heartbeat-try to remember exactly where he heard/found it

personally I think they are a waste of money
you could always take yours to your next appt though and if the doctor or nurse has a free minute--ask them if they can find the heartbeat using whatever monitor you got.

bebe sounds heartbeat monitor??

Q. im only 12 weeks pregnant and i hear this product doesnt work until you are later in pregnancy if it works at all. i looked it up and its only 20$ dollars so im gonna buy it regardless but i just wanna know if it really works cuz i dont want to freak out if i dont hear a heartbeat
i already heard the heartbeat at 9.7 weeks

Answer
Yeah i bought one when i was 20 weeks and it said you wont be able to hear the heart beat until you are in your third trimester and since i am in it now i can hear my babys heart be so clearly !! But while i had it i would put it on my belly just to see and hear her kcick it she dont like nothing that goes touches my belly !!! lol

7 month old baby milestones?

Q. Just out of curiosity...should my 7 month old be sitting up by himself or at least crawling by now?

Answer
From day one, your baby has maintained that special spot in your heart. But by month seven, he knows it and he intends to keep it that way. Baby will push the limits in all his activities; in fact, he's already learning how far he can go. Why is it that your childcare provider considers him an angel at lunch but he throws sweet potatoes at you at dinner? It's because baby knows that your love and acceptance (if not your patience) are endless. Keep in mind that it's good for baby to start maintaining some control over his environment, but as his parent, you need to determine how far he can go.

Milestones this month | Ready for action | Expect plenty of testing | Changing eye color

Milestones this month*
Your baby now can bear weight on his legs when you hold him upright.

He can sit without support.

Baby can stand while holding onto someone or something.

He can pull himself up to a standing position from a seated one.

Baby walks by holding on to furniture.

He babbles.

Baby plays peekaboo.

He plays patty-cake.

Baby waves good-bye.

He can say "mama" or "dada."
*All babies have their own internal developmental timetable. If your 7-month-old hasn't yet reached these milestones, rest assured that she will in time. If you have concerns about your baby's development, discuss them with her doctor.

Ready for action
As your baby cruises through his seventh month, he's more aware of how strong he is -- and how that strength can get him where he wants to go. With strength comes your baby's desire to get moving, and he'll be crawling soon.

Caution! Some parents buy baby walkers to help their little ones travel from room to room. Many doctors discourage the use of baby walkers. Too many emergency rooms have seen babies who've fallen down staircases while in a walker; walkers also can tip over or roll onto the fingers or toes of other children at home. Some doctors also believe that too much time in a walker can slow a baby's muscle development.

Expect plenty of testing

Prepare yourself for the manipulation game. Your baby has learned that a mere squawk from his mouth will send you running; the insistent lifting of his arms all but guarantees you'll sweep him off his feet. Resist the temptation. Here's how to help your baby learn to entertain himself for short periods of time:

Devote short periods of time to him all day, or see that your child-care provider does. Sit down and read him a book, play finger games with him, or help him build a tower of blocks. Let him know you're always availableñbut just for limited amounts of time.

Provide a change of atmosphere if baby starts to fuss. Place baby onto a blanket on the floor or move him to another room. (Just make sure he's not fussing because he's tired, hungry, or in need of a fresh diaper.) Monitor his surroundings periodically, occasionally replacing the few toys that are within his reach. Don't let piles of toys accumulate around him; they can overwhelm him.

If his crankiness doesn't subside, go to baby and show him how to play with a particular toy or object, but don't sit down with him or pick him up. After a brief demonstration, go back to your own tasks. And don't hesitate to tell himñin a calm, pleasant voiceñthat you need to do your work, too. Keep chatting or singing to him as you busy yourself within his earshot; return to him if he threatens to erupt but before he actually starts to scream. (You don't want him to think that this is the ultimate way to bring you back to your senses.)

Changing eye color
Sometime between 6 and 7 months, your baby's eyes may change color. Until now, they've appeared blue. The amount of pigment in the eye's iris determines the permanent color, a pigment which may not be fully developed until your baby is closer to a year old. Blue eyes still could turn brown, but brown eyes won't become blue.

My baby monitor has gone crazy!?

Q. I have a graco baby monitor, it has always worked great, minus the periodical static. Well this morning I woke up early to see my Husband off to work. My daughter was still asleep so I turned on the baby monitor and went down stairs to make coffee. All of a sudden I heard a crazy cry, not normal at all.. I freaked out dropped the coffee and ran up the stairs, only to find my daughter sleeping. I stood there and stared at her for a moment to see if she was going to start moving around, but she was sound asleep. As I was standing there I heard the monitor downstairs making that same noise. I picked up my daughter to bring her downstairs with me to lay down, and Immediately turned off the monitor. What could this be? I know that monitors can pick up other peoples monitor noise, but this has never happened and it was a crazy cry...I don't even know if I want to call it a cry it sounded so weird. Needless to say I am freaked out :)
What could this be, and has it ever happened to you?
I live in a town house. I know all of my neighbors though and they have no babies, all older children.
Yea my monitor picks up frequencies of other electronics as well. If it is too close to my cell or my computer speakers it goes koo koo but this was not like that. It sounded like a cry, the craziest cry I have ever heard.

Answer
Haha!! i have the same issue. i live in a townhouse and neither of my neighbors have small children or infants. randomly throughout the day and night my monitor will start to squeal and i can hear this almost horror film type cry. at first i thought it was my daughter so i would always runn upstairs only to find her sound asleep. i also have the graco monitor it has two receivers. ive moved since i bought the monitor and in my first place i would always hear a man whispering in through it and then my daughter would giggle or babble as if they were having a conversation. that is the reason i moved. it was a very old house built in 1859 so we thought a townhouse would be newer and less likely for it to happen. now all i hear are the random cries. maybe its just graco monitors.

How to make old iphone 3g as Home Spy Camera?

Trueme

I have two iPhones, the old iPhone 3g and the new iPhone 4s. now i wanted to use my old iphone 3g (iOs version updated) as a Home Spy Camera and wanted to watch my kids at home live stream to my new iPhone 4s while im at work. i also got my Home Wifi network. is there any best iphone application out there for this matter? or is it possible to use my Home IP address to use and access it for this concept?

Answer
There are many training videos telling us how to make iphone as home spy camera on line.
Um...I've found two:
1. http://www.wonderhowto.com/how-to-use-iphone-as-spy-camera-423938/
2. http://www.wonderhowto.com/how-to-make-iphone-secret-spy-camera-423940/
The second video looks like very easy to access, but I don't know if it is useful for you.

If these two ways are not fit, I suggest you to buy a Baby Monitor or Home Spy Camera. You can visit this online store:
http://www.accessbuy.com/wholesale-Baby-Monitor_120.html
http://www.accessbuy.com/wholesale-IP-Camera_113.html
It's a wholesaler, so its price is very low.

When will tmobile come out with the iPhone?

sockssoxs1

I have seen articles and reports that T-Mobile will carry apple products in the new year (2013). When can I expect to see the iphone 5 on T-Mobiles network?

thanks

Answer
I let my friend (coworker) who owns an iPhone 5 use my Note 2 just to compare, and showed him how to use it.

I then asked him why people prefer iPhone 5 over the customization that Android gives. He had no answer to that (he did attempt to say that the iPhone was simpler to use, and I described that the it was true that even babies could use the iPhone, but the Android only takes a day to customize to ones wants and needs), just that he never knew Android had gotten so good. He then offered to trade me his iPhone 5 and a gaming screen he had previously used for his triple monitor setup. I stoutly declined.

This sounds like I'm just trying to spite you because even if the events that I have just tried to describe are false (and they are not), they are impolite.

So I won't educate you on the benefits of the Note 2, and Android as an OS, and why I'm not here to start a war, but merely to inform you that iPhone is definitely starting to fall off as a feature full phone every generation. Every generation, the iPhone is declining. I won't speak of it anymore, and just try answering your question without killing myself over how much a tech geek like me needs to tell you how much better Android is. All you have to do is research and use google anyway if you wanted to know, right?

So about iPhone on T-mobile. You probably won't be seeing the iPhone 5 likely appear in next month. After that, they will be very eager to get the iPhone 5 if they truly are considering offering the iPhone 5 (they already offer the Galaxy Note 2, though... OOPS what am I saying?!?!). So around 3-4 months? Yep very likely.

But don't buy a phone on a contract. You will end up paying more. Do you wonder why contracts lock you in and lower the price on phones? It's not really because they want you to stay (well yes they do), but that they gain a better profit anyway. They lock you into a plan that is very bad compared to prepaid plans so every month you will be shelling out tons more money for tons less service. Let's say you pay $90 every month for the same service you get at $49... There you go. 2 year contract = 12+12 = 24 x 40 = 960. You will be shelling out an extra $960 along with the small fee you payed with the phone when you signed your contract ($200 maybe?).

See, I'm just trying to educate you on what choice you should take: prepaid.

Prepaid? Look at Straight Talk, Solavei, T-mobile Prepaid (hidden because they like you using contracts), there are many great options. Check them out.

What is the best baby monitor out there?

KanKan

Im going to be a first time mom & my baby's nursery is on a different floor in my house. Im looking for the best portable baby monitor, possibly a picture one. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Answer
I would go for a basic sound only monitor. When I was setting up my nursery we bought a motion and sound monitor. I found it to be useless for a new born as the baby was too small to set it off. It needed an adult or something bigger to set it off as it needed big movements (a hand waving in front of it.) I have one by fisher price that came with 2 speakers and the base. It is really good and picks up all sounds (it is so sensitive that it picks up the grand father clock chiming in the dinning room!) I love it. It only cost us about $80 from baby target.

Please help! Have troubles finding baby monitor! Any suggestions?

t1nk_58

Okay, i have been searching for weeks for a good baby monitor that has video, operates with a 2.4 ghz or dect so there is minimal interference. Either a portable audio or the video itself is portable. Prefer the camera to be wall mountable but if its necessary we can make do with out. Doesn't have to have anything special like lullabies or night lights or anything. But something with a good range as well and indicator for out of range and battery life would be great. And doesn't cost a couple of hundred dollars???? I would really really really like to find something like this but apparently it doesn't exist? Almost every video monitor i come across has bad reviews somewhere. :( Any help would be great. A name to look up? where to get it? I have been searching Amazon, Walmart, Baby's R' Us, target, etc. Maybe i need to be a little lenient on something? idk. HELP please!

Answer
A cheaper alternative may be one without a video monitor, but with a sensor pad instead. I've got a Tommee Tippee one and it clicks each time baby moves, and will sound an alarm if no movement is detected in 20 seconds. It is reassuring, but not a necessity. You can get by just fine with a standard monitor, you'll go up and check on baby when you hear them anyway.

How many of you share your room with your baby?

Me and my "boyfriend" share our room with out five month old baby, we're young, we live with my mom, brother and sister. I have a feeling when we move out someday, I'll miss having him sleep in our room, baby monitors don't count. I'm also afraid he'll get too used to sharing a room with us since there's no other room for him.

I'm just wondering how many of you share your room with your baby? Or a toddler. You would obviously love having him/her in your room but how does it get when they get older and still sleep in the room?

How do your decorate your room that will also make the baby happy? He loves my old room because the walls are dark-bright pink. My current room is light blue with a yellowish ceiling. I wanna put get glow in the dark stars, skulls(pirate kind/Misfits) and bats(like the batman signal but not batman), but I was wondering what other kinds of things would go good on our walls that he would like but not seem so baby-ish. Something that would make him intriged.
I know some people aren't too trilled about the skull/bat decore I want but it's still my room and my baby, I want him to get used to my style as well.
Oh ya, he does have a crib, a black one with red sheets

Answer
My daughter is 9mnths and sleeps in my room in her cot, she does have her own bedroom which is decorated in neurtral colours with brown bears (teddys wash day from mothercare) on the walls and curtains. Our house isnt a great size and her room is been used as storage for the moment so thats why shes with us until we either sort a new house or clear our clutter. I would say as your baby gets older they develop a character and u will know what will soothe ur baby and make them feel relaxed. Even though my daughters only young she doesnt like the dark, likes cuddles and other babies so her next room will be made light with lots of teddys and really girly features to make her feel secure...what about a space theme...like real dark blue walls with stars on the ceiling (glow in dark ones), a few spaceships on the wall just an idea..

What does a baby need?

Q. I'm 18 weeks pregnant and have started my baby shopping, could you write me a kit list of everything a baby needs please so I don't miss anything! Most detailed answer gets 10 points, thanks for your help

Answer
Hi congratulations :)
For your baby you will need;

â¢Baby vests, I will buy about a minimum of 14 of them as baby's bring up milk etc so will need to change etc its always best to have a few.
â¢Baby grows, a minimum of 14 again you will need a few, my kids brought up milk atleast twice a day sometimes even 3 times + a day!
â¢Bibs, a minimum of 12 bibs, trust me you'l need them.
â¢Hat, 2 atleast, you'l just need them for going out :)
â¢Mitts, 2 atleast, it will prevent your baby from scratching their selves.
â¢Socks, 5 pairs, can buy more if you want.
â¢Coat, I bought 1 you can buy 2 if you want.
â¢Rompers, 8 or more.

(Buy your baby a few newborn clothes and a few up to 1 month clothes, I bought my son all newborn baby clothes from Next and nothing fit him, I had to buy all new up to 1 month baby clothes)

Things you will need for the Nursery,
â¢Blankets, atleast 4
â¢Baby Bedding, 2 atleast (Duvet etc)
â¢Cot Sheets, minimum of 4
â¢Moses basket sheets, 4 or more (if you get 1)
â¢Cot/Cotbed
â¢Cradle or Moses basket
(I bought a Cot bed for the bedroom and a moses basket for down stairs)
â¢Changing cabinet (if you want one)
â¢Wardrobe (again only if you want one)
â¢Mobile for the cot (if you get one)
â¢Baby monitor
â¢Nursing chair (if you want one)
â¢Toys for the cot

Bathing and Changing your baby,
â¢Changing mat
â¢Baby bath
â¢Towels, 2 or more
â¢Baby shampoo, Lotion, Oil, Talcum etc
â¢SudoCreme (incas baby gets a sore bum)
â¢Nappies, stock up before baby comes, 6 packs or more will be good, (if your partner is around then its cool you can buy 2 packs, my partner was away with the aemy when I had my kids so it was easier for me to stock up on nappies, I bought 12 packs before my baby was born)
â¢Baby wipes, 6 atleast
â¢Cotton wool (for top and tail)

Feeding,
â¢Bottles (if your bottle feeding, Tommee Tippee ones are realy good)
â¢Sterilier (if your bottle feeding)
â¢Dummy
â¢Breast pump (if your breast feeding, I bought one because my nipples were realy sore when my baby was sucking on them so it was easier to pump milk out and feed her through a bottle, with my 3rd baby no milk came out so I had to bottle feed him)
â¢Bibs, (I've also mentioned above)
â¢Infacol (its realy realy good for baby's give it to your baby before each feed, it will prevent them from getting any trapped wind which can realy upset them and make them scream in pain!)

Traveling,
â¢Pram/Pushchair (I bought a Quinny Buzz, I love it, it runs so smoothely, even on the bumpy bits your baby hardly feels a thing!)
â¢Car seat
â¢Toys for the pram

My son is 7 months old and some time for naps he sleeps in his room in is crib but at night......he is in our bedroom in his playpen. I have read on my favorite childcare website Baby Center [ www.babycenter.com ] that doctors say that baby's can sleep in there own room as of the first night home from the hospital. Also, that after 6 months you do not need to use a baby monitor. That is what the experts say but..........

I have tried putting him in his own room at night and I freak out. Mind you I am very deep sleeper, my husband usually has to wake me up for the baby. So I am paranoid. My husband on the other hand has no problem with letting him sleep in his room as long as the monitir is on. SO pretty much there is a difference of opionion.

This is what I think, has your child had any problems sleeping? has your child given you any reason to give you cause for alarm? If No, then the answers is when YOU are ready. You need to be able to get a full nights rest [or you know the best amount you can get] without worrying about your little one.
If yes, wait until those problems resolve themselves first.

But, a litte unsolicitated parental advice that I am just learning......The longer you wait the worse it is going to be. Not just for you but also for your little ones. Babies are learning so much everyday at night they want to sleep where they are comfortable and change leads to long hours of crying, sometimes.

Just be prepared for whatever you chose to do. Look at the website if you get frustrated, they have hundreds of articles when it comes to children and babies sleeping, eating, dressing, walking, teething, gas problems, etc. and where and how on those things.
Good luck.

unborn baby's heartbeat slower because I was lying on my back?

sdubbs

I am a week late to have my baby and yesterday at my midwife appt the baby's heartbeat was slower than usual. My midwife said this was because I was lying on my back which babies app don't like! Has anyone else heard this before?
Once I moved onto my side it got faster but every other time I have been I've laid on my back and it has been normal and when I've been monitored at the hopsital. Just beginning to panic that I should have looked into this further at the time. I'm seeing my midwife again tomorrow but am worrying that in the meantime something might be wrong and I wouldn't know about it until it is too late.

Answer
Info below from babycenter.com
Hope this helps!

During the second half of pregnancy, avoid sleeping on your back, a position that puts the full weight of your uterus on your spine, back muscles, intestines, and the inferior vena cava (the vein that transports blood from your lower body to the heart). Back-sleeping can also put you at risk for backaches and hemorrhoids, inefficient digestion, and impaired breathing and circulation. Lying on your back in the second and third trimester can also cause changes in blood pressure. For some women, it can cause a drop in blood pressure that can make them feel dizzy; for others, it can cause an unwanted increase in blood pressure.

Graco iMonitor Pure Digital Baby Monitor?

Katy

Has anyone else had troubles with this monitor? Here is a link to it ......... http://www.walmart.com/catalog/allReviews.do?product_id=4433233

I have this one and it worked great for about 3 weeks and now its started acting up, looses signal several times a day -- until i go and turn the base off and then on again. My room and my babys room are only about 10-12 feet apart so there should not be a problem with it conection with the base. Any one else had a problem with these monitors? I also have some static with it, however its much better than the last monitor I tried. Any suggestions as to what a good monitor is? I am going to be moving into new house and our rooms will be further apart and i need a good monitor. Thanks!

Answer
I have the same type but there is two, one for room #1 and then room # 2 but it's the same as yours and at first I had trouble too and I was losing signal. I had to reset the signal to but what I ended up doing is turning them OFF and then leaving them on the charger and let them charge for 24 hours then turned them back on and I have not had a problem since. Hope this helps. I know going 24 hours without them sucks but I love the monitors now. Good luck!

I need a better baby monitor?

Q. I have the cheapest baby monitor that you can buy from Wal-mart and I have to change the battery like every 3-4 days. Can anyone PLEASE recommend a good quality baby monitor that doesn't go through batteries so quick?! These batteries are getting expensive and I'd rather invest in a better monitor than all of these batteries. If you can provide links to them that would be great. Thanks for all the help!

Answer
I have the Phillips Avent monitor, it has worked great for the last 1.5 years and I LOVE it. It is digital so no static and you don't change any batteries, it sits on the charger when you aren't using it, like a cordless phone basically. I have never changed a battery for it.

You can talk to the baby and it tells the temp in the baby's room and does lullabies and all. (I actually never used the talking thing until now, my 18 month old thinks it's hilarious when I talk through it to him!)

This is the newer version of it (I have the older one)

CRT or LCD for games?

Q.

Answer
Guy above you have no idea do you clarity matters if your looking for eye candy but if you want that head shot you want less response time LCDs can only go to 2ms response time and 75Hz refresh. he he he. Then there are the CRT that has a response as low as .02ms (notice the dot in front of the 0 no its not the end of the sentence) and a refresh rate of 100+. Depends on what your going for picture quality or that head shot most pro gamers and up will say CRT/DLP for more common people/gamers LCD is the way to go. Me i love my CRT and LCD both that i have my CRT in the middle and the LCDs on the side for my gaming computer.

Also if your a rear projection type a guy take a look at this baby:

How does the doc turn the baby if in breech position ?

Jenns

I was just wondering - some one mentioned if the baby is breech the doctors can 'try' physically moving or reposition the baby into the correct birthing position. I was also told this is painful. How is this done.

Answer
If the baby is breech, your doctor may suggest version. This is an attempt to turn the baby head down. It can improve your chance of having a vaginal birth.

To turn the baby, the doctor places his or her hands at certain points on your abdomen, then pushes or lifts. This helps the baby move. It is as if the baby rolls forward in slow motion. If this does not work, the doctor may try to get the baby to roll backward. In some cases, the doctor may have a second person help turn the baby.

Most often, version is not tried until you are at least 36 weeks pregnant. If it is done before then, the baby may still change position.

Your doctor will assess your health and the state of your pregnancy to see if version is an option for you. Certain conditions may increase the risk of version or decrease the chance of its success. If you or your baby has any of these conditions, your doctor may not recommend version.

Before your doctor tries to turn the baby, an ultrasound exam will be done. This exam shows:

How the baby is positioned
Where the placenta is positioned
How much amniotic fluid is present
Ultrasound also may be used to help guide the turning.
The baby's heart rate is checked with fetal monitoring before and after version. If any problems arise with you or the baby, version will be stopped right away.

Sometimes, a drug is given to you first to relax the uterus. This may make it easier to turn the baby.

First Test-Tube Baby - Louise Brown
From Jennifer Rosenberg,

On July 25, 1978, Louise Joy Brown, the world's first successful "test-tube" baby was born in Great Britain. Though the technology that made her conception possible was heralded as a triumph in medicine and science, it also caused many to consider the possibilities of future ill-use.

Previous Attempts

Every year, millions of couples try to conceive a child; unfortunately, many find that they cannot. The process to find out how and why they have infertility issues can be long and arduous. Before the birth of Louise Brown, those women who were found to have Fallopian tube blockages (approximately twenty percent of infertile women) had no hope of becoming pregnant.

Usually, conception occurs when an egg cell (ovum) in a woman is released from an ovary, travels through a Fallopian tube, and is fertilized by the man's sperm. The fertilized egg continues to travel while it undergoes numerous cell divisions. It then rests in the uterus to grow.

Women with Fallopian tube blockages cannot conceive because their eggs cannot travel through their Fallopian tubes to get fertilized.

Dr. Patrick Steptoe, a gynecologist at Oldham General Hospital, and Dr. Robert Edwards, a physiologist at Cambridge University, had been actively working on finding an alternative solution for conception since 1966. Though Drs. Steptoe and Edwards had successfully found a way to fertilize an egg outside a woman's body, they were still troubled by problems after replacing the fertilized egg back into the woman's uterus. By 1977, all of the pregnancies resulting from their procedure (about 80) had lasted only a few, short weeks.

Lesley Brown became different when she successfully passed the first few weeks of pregnancy.

Lesley and John Brown

Lesley and John Brown were a young couple from Bristol who had been unable to conceive for nine years. Lesley Brown had blocked Fallopian tubes. Having gone from doctor to doctor for help to no avail, she was referred to Dr. Patrick Steptoe in 1976. On November 10, 1977, Lesley Brown underwent the very experimental in vitro ("in glass") fertilization procedure.

Using a long, slender, self-lit probe called a "laparoscope," Dr. Steptoe took an egg from one of Lesley Brown's ovaries and handed it to Dr. Edwards. Dr. Edwards then mixed Lesley's egg with John's sperm. After the egg was fertilized, Dr. Edwards placed it into a special solution that had been created to nurture the egg as it began to divide.

Previously, Drs. Steptoe and Edwards had waited until the fertilized egg had divided into 64 cells (about four or five days later). This time, however, they decided to place the fertilized egg back into Lesley's uterus after just two and a half days.

Close monitoring of Lesley showed that the fertilized egg had successfully embedded into her uterus wall. Then, unlike all the other experimental in vitro fertilization pregnancies, Lesley passed week after week and then month after month with no apparent problems. The world began to talk about this amazing procedure.

Ethical Problems

Lesley Brown's pregnancy gave hope to hundreds of thousands of couples not able to conceive. Yet, as many cheered this new medical breakthrough, others were worried about future implications.

The most important question was whether this baby was going to be healthy. Had being outside the womb, even for just a couple of days, harmed the egg? If the baby has medical problems, did the parents and doctors have a right to play with nature and thus bring it into the world? Doctors also worried that if the baby wasn't normal, would the process be blamed whether or not it was the cause?

When does life begin? If human life begins at conception, are doctors killing potential humans when they discard fertilized eggs? (Doctors may remove several eggs from the woman and may discard some that have been fertilized.)

Is this process a foreshadowing of what is to come? Will there be surrogate mothers? Was Aldous Huxley predicting the future when he described breeding farms in his book Brave New World?

Success!

Throughout Lesley's pregnancy, she was closely monitored, including the use of ultrasounds and amniocentesis. Nine days before her due date, Lesley developed toxemia (high blood pressure). Dr. Steptoe decided to deliver the baby early via Cesarean section.

At 11:47 p.m. on July 25, 1978, a five-pound 12-ounce baby girl was born. The baby girl, named Louise Joy Brown, had blue eyes and blond hair and seemed healthy. Still, the medical community and the world were preparing to watch Louise Brown to see if there were any abnormalities that couldn't be seen at birth.

The process had been a success! Though some wondered if the success had been more luck than science, continued success with the process proved that Dr. Steptoe and Dr. Edwards had accomplished the first of many "test-tube" babies.

Today, the process of in vitro fertilization is considered commonplace and utilized by infertile couples around the world.

Baby monitor with web connection where the in home monitor will work even if my internet goes down?

I am looking for a reliable video baby monitor that I can view on my computer at work, but that is independent in that it will continue to work as a monitor even if my internet connection goes down.
Brian ~ Which monitor did you choose?

Answer
This was a catch 22 for me. Obviously to see my baby, and check they are OK was a good one. But I decided wireless technology is still in its infant days. Who knows in the future, whether exposing a baby to radiation is good for them. That's why I went with a wired monitor. So any wired monitor is the one I would choose, but that's the problem, most are wireless. Babies are especially vulnerable because their bodies and nervous systems are still developing and because they will have more time to accumulate exposure to the radiation and for any delayed effects to develop. The jury is out, but I don't personally want to be a guineepig.

I looked at http://www.brickhousesecurity.com/cv600.html,
But in the end went with just a simple wired sound monitor. You can put them closer, due to a much smaller magnetic field and hear the baby breathing . It maybe that magnetic fields dont harm the baby, but there have been some concerns in some of the trustworthy papers here in UK such as the independant.

will you pls show the block diagram of the baby monitor machine design?how it works?

Answer
Baby Monitor is BT's first entry into this market. Digital technology means crystal-clear sound quality and no interference. The Baby Monitor Plus has extra features in addition to the Baby Monitor, including an LCD, five lullabies and a temperature monitor. A range of up to 300 metres (in ideal conditions) and an Intercom feature means that a constant link is maintained between parent and baby.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - In cooperation with the U.S Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Gerry Baby Products Company, of Thornton, Colo., is announcing a voluntary recall of approximately 990,000 Model 602 Gerry Deluxe Baby Monitors. Wires inside the monitor may be improperly connected, resulting in the product overheating with the possibility of the monitor causing fire. Another contributing factor is when blankets or other bedding are placed around or on top of the monitor blocking ventilation.

Gerry urges consumers to read all product warnings and instructions accompanying all monitors. Consumers should not place any monitor in the crib, among blankets or bedding, or in any position that interferes with ventilation for the monitor.

Gerry is aware of one fire without injuries involving a Model 602 monitor with this manufacturing error. This information was brought to CPSC's attention by a member of the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI). In addition, CPSC has also received reports alleging Model 602 Baby Monitor involvement in two other fires, including one with a fatality and an injury, and 13 incidents of the monitors getting warm to the touch, including one skin burn. Gerry stated that only one report (no injuries) of these 16 claims was conclusively determined to have been caused by the Model 602 monitor.

The two-piece monitor sets resemble walkie-talkies. The monitors have pale gray and royal blue plastic casing. A red "on" light and a blue "Gerry" label appear on the front of each monitor. The back of the monitors are embossed with "GERRY DELUXE BABY MONITOR MODEL 602" and the manufacturer's date code. The date code appears as a circle of numbers, with an arrow pointing to the number of the month and the two-digit year number on either side of the arrow. This recall involves monitors with date codes "8806" (June 1988) through "9005" (May 1990).

Juvenile product and baby supply stores and department stores sold the recalled monitors nationwide from June 1988 through May 1990. The monitors were packaged in blue cardboard boxes labeled in part, "Gerry Deluxe Baby Monitor...Listen to Your Baby from any Home Location...Gerry Baby Safetronics..."

Consumers who own Model 602 monitors should contact Gerry toll-free at (800) 672-6289 for instructions on how to return the recalled monitors for a free replacement monitor. For more information, consumers should call Gerry, or write to the company at Attn: Building R-602 Recall, 1500 East 128th Avenue, Thornton, CO 80241.

Wireless Router Questions and Help?

J West

I am looking for some feedback on my wireless router. I have a Netgear WNR1000v2 which is a N router. I just bought a Netgear WGR614v8 which is a G router. I just bout it for the heck of it, it was 5 bucks. So here is my question. I was reading some forums about dd-wrt, which is a firmware update for routers I believe. I read that this can boost your routers speed or range. Not sure if I really understand that to be correct.

I have not tested this G router, but my N router works, but my PS3 online always disconnects. It is about 60 feet away from my router setup. My N router does not support the dd-wrt, but the G router does support dd-wrt. Will this actually improve the G to the point that it is better than the N.

I'm not an expert on all of this, so please shed some light for me.

PS. I also have my router sitting on top of my desktop. I read that you should not place your router near other electronic devices. Is this hurting my signal?

Thank you.

Answer
A firmware update will probably boost the signal if the original firmware was not utilizing the hardware to its full potential.

You know how games come with bugs on the first day? Well, hardware does too. Just like the iPhone keeps getting updates for better performance.

Your G router isn't performing what it is capable of...doesn't mean it will work better than an N router working optimally. A G router is capable of 54 Mbps...that's it. No more. An N router is capable of 300 Mbps (best conditions).

Your N router may be experiencing interference, as well as being in mixed-mode (which seriously degrades throughput). In order to take advantage of 802.11n speed and range, every node (wireless device) on that network needs to support 802.11n, and if you connect an 802.11b/g device to the wireless network, the router will switch to mixed-mode to maintain compatibility. Either make the network completely 802.11n or you just deal with the slower speed and range.

To improve signal strength, remove any causes of interference such as 2.4Ghz telephones, microwaves, baby monitors, large solid objects like refrigerators that may impede the signal.

Also, your router may disconnect the connection if it is idle for X amount of time. That may be the reason why your PS3 disconnects. You need to go into the router's setup page and change it to never disconnect on idle.

do i need a router or a modem?

Q. wireless or wired? i'm confused! ok-right now, i have wireless internet,
from comcast. the modem or router thing, i rent from them at $7 bucks,
is in my living room, and my pc is in my room, hooked up to my hdtv.
how, ever-i'm tired of paying comcast the extra $7 dollars a month!
so, i'm thinking about buying the "Motorola SB6141 DOCSIS modem".

i want to have a WIRED internet connection, and be able to share
that "wired connection" to my old '2006' pc, apple tv, wireless printer,
and an iphone 5. BTW..the pc will be DEAD soon, until, i can afford
another one! so, i'll only have the apple tv, printer and iphone, to connect.

do i need a wireless or wired modem, or wireless/wired router?
i appreciate your help. thanks.

Answer
Here is how it works,

A router connects two separate networks and manage the traffic between them.

A wireless router enables you to provide wireless (WiFi) Internet access to all of your WiFi enabled devices such as laptops, game consoles, cell phones and tablets, Streaming devices such as Roku boxes and Internet enabled TV and sound devices, etc.

In most home network applications the router connects your local group of computers and devices known as the LAN with the Internet, commonly called the WAN or Wide Area Network.

Two types of Internet devices are commonly sold.

1. Combination modem / routers, often called gateways.

2. Stand alone routers which can be connected to a stand alone modem.

DSL and Cable modems use different technology, for this reason you can't use a cable gateway (DOCSIS) with DSL or use a DSL gateway (ADSL2+) with a cable Internet connection.

A highly rated DOCSIS 3.0 cable gateway is the Motorola SBG6580. It is currently about $120 at Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0040IUI46/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=excharge-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B0040IUI46

You could also buy a standalone cable modem and connect it to a separate wireless router.

If you buy an older DOCSIS 2.0 model and you are paying for a speed tier over 20 Mbps. then you will probably not see the throughput that you should.

Be sure to get a newer compatible DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem such as the Motorola SB6120. It supports bonded channels and will increase your cable Internet performance.

As far as routers go,

A fast wireless router does not make your Internet faster.

Your WAN speed is determined by your ISP and is measured in Mbps (Millions of bits per second).

For example if you pay for a 10 Mbps Internet connection, you will get 10 Mbps.

No router or modem will change your 10 Mbps Internet speed.

This Internet connection bandwidth is shared by your entire LAN via your router.

If you have a 10 Mbps plan and one user is utilizing 5 Mbps of the bandwidth to stream a HD Netflix movie that only leaves 5 Mbps for all of the rest of the users on the LAN.

Fast routers and network devices are designed to stream large files on your LAN quickly. The high speed routers permit fast transfer of files between devices connected to your LAN, however WAN speed is still limited by your ISP.

WIRELESS RANGE:

Wireless signals are affected by many factors including distance, wall density, electrical interference, directional antenna range, etc. All of these factors will affect your actual wireless range.

Many wireless connections also experience interference from microwave ovens and cordless phones which interfere with the 2.4 GHz band.

Dual band routers have multiple wireless radios enabling broadcast on the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands simultaneously.

Using the 5 GHz band cuts down on interference from cordless phones and microwave ovens..

Not all devices can use the 5 GHz frequency. Many laptops and other devices only operate at 2.4 GHz. Thus the need for dual band routers.

Just because a particular wireless router works good at one location does not guarantee that it will have similar performance in a different location due to variance in the factors listed above.

You should try to centrally locate your wireless router or gateway up high and away from dense walls and electrical and 2.4 GHz wireless interference such as microwave ovens, cordless phones, baby monitors, etc.

Wireless routers are fairly inexpensive. http://www.amazon.com/s/?_encoding=UTF8&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957&field-keywords=wireless%20router&url=search-alias%3Daps&sprefix=wireless%20ro%2Caps%2C490&tag=excharge-20

You don't have to buy your modem, router or gateway from your ISP, you can get one from a local retailer such as BestBuy or Fry's or online from places like Amazon.

As far as the brand goes, the brand is not as important as the model. Some manufacturers release a good model but the next is crap. I would look at the Amazon reviews of models that interest you. Even if you don't buy from Amazon the reviews will tell you a lot about which models to avoid. Look for at least 20 or more reviews with at least a 4 star rating. Read a few and see if they sound like the particular model will work for your application.

Most cable Internet providers use the cable modem's MAC address to activate the modem.

Every device that has a network interface has a unique MAC (Media Access Control) address. This is usually expressed in hexadecimal such as 10:25:A4:59:EF:1C

You'll have to call your cable provider with the MAC of the new modem so they can activate it on your account. The MAC address is usually printed on a sticker attached to the modem.

Good Luck...

hi, I am 4 weeks 3 days preganant, LMP was 12/2/2013(without any doubt).Since day before yesterday i start?

Q. hi, I am 4 weeks 3 days preganant, LMP was 12/2/2013(without any doubt).Since day before yesterday i started having crampy lower abdomen pain for which i consulted my OBGYN, She urgent made me undergo the TVS which revealed pregancy of 5weeks 5days (no idea, how ?ultrasongraphist told me its all based on measurement , though I am pretty sure about my LMP dates) with the left side corpous leuteal cyst and just the gestational sac without fetal pole & no Yolk sac was visualised , which apparently should have been noticed till now according to the doctor,he told me tht he will repeat again the usg after 5-6days for the confirmation, ans it could me blighted ovum..on review with the my Gyanac, she told me tht we will go with the LMP dates as they r more realiable n will repeat the scan after 10 days. she is put me on complete bed rest with TAB SUSTEN 200MG & suggested that the crampy lower abdominal pain resembling PMS is all because of the corpus leuteal cyst and i might have to bare with it till my 1st trimester, she told me that with dates we don't expect anything more then the gestational sac at this moment.I have started with susten thrice daily, but i am too puzzled whom to believe and stressed out, as i am aware of the fact that that USG finding in early pregnancy are more accurate then the LMP.What should i do?please guide me properly,I can withstand the reality and be prepared for the worst, please guide me in proper way?is it blighted ovum? As far as i know that usg is always less than that LMP date, then why in my case it is coming more? I am to stressed, plz help me out asap..
its not December but 12th feb(LMP was 12th feb. 2013). No they didnt get any hcg levels checked.
thanx for those sweet words.but do u think its pretty okaay, my gestational sac measures 10mm acc to usg report?which makes its 5 weeks 5 days on the day when usg was done..though with lmp its just about 5 weeks now...here while surfing net i came across the fact that yolk sac develops when the gestational sac is over 8 mm.i m freaking out to the core.just keep on thinking about this all the day....

Answer
I really think your physician is worrying you too soon. We didn't see my baby until just about nine weeks! I had to turn down the D&C at seven and eight weeks. Yes, this may end in miscarriage but they really cannot know that for sure before nine weeks or so. Don't be afraid to get a second opinion. Also, keep in mind once the gestational sac is visualized, many doctors stop taking hCG levels because they can rise, plateau or drop and still be normal. Unfortunately, time is the only true test of a blighted ovum. Stay monitored and, as with any pregnancy, please be seen right away if there are complications. I do hope you get better news soon!

Oh, an just read your additional details. At my eight week ultrasound, my gestatational sac measured 21.5mm and looked completely empty. One week later at 28.5mm, they found my little one. Hang in there. Saying a prayer for you!

Will supporters demand probation for Illegal Gerardo Espinosa 20 minutes and done: Jury convicts?

Q. Jurors spent just 20 minutes this morning concluding that a 19-year-old man was guilty of child abuse through violent shaking, which caused substantial bodily harm to his 11-week-old daughter.

Gerardo Espinosa was scheduled an Aug. 25 sentencing, where he faces a minimum of probation and maximum of 20 years in prison.

Chief Deputy District Attorney Dan Greco said the verdict was one of the swiftest he's aware of in the county.

Greco said that on Oct. 29, Espinosa was baby-sitting baby Areli Rubi while his 20-year-old wife and her mother were at work. Areli's crying was frustrating Espinosa, whose video game playing was being disrupted. Unable to comfort the girl, Espinosa shook the infant whose brain slammed back and forth against her skull, causing near fatal injuries, Greco said.

Espinosa drove his daughter to Renown Regional Medical Center after she stopped breathing and went limp. He told investigators that after he shook her she became "disabled" because her head became loose and her body went limp. Next, he said he fell while carrying the baby, who then accidentally struck the back of her head on a wooden entertainment system.

Greco said medical personnel said if he waited any longer to get medical treatment, Areli would have died.

Espinosa told sheriff's investigators that Areli's crying angered him, and that he was frustrated he could not quiet the girl.

Greco said Espinosa's explanation of the injuries did not support the medical evidence.

Doctors testified that Areli has significant and permanent brain injuries that will cause her to be monitored the rest of her life my medical personnel. They concluded her injuries were the result of shaking, and/or inflicted traumatic head trauma.

Areli has significant vision and hearing loss, and her gross motor skills are very impaired, doctors said. She has no reaction to faces, voices or objects. She is reliant on a feeding tube. Doctors testified Areli's condition will never improve.

Espinosa's court-appointed attorney, Robert Bruce Lindsay, told jurors that if the girl hadn't struck her head on the entertainment system, "we wouldn't be here." He claimed the shaking was not enough to cause the brain injuries. Greco said outside of court he doubts Espinosa fell.

"One minute she was a happy and healthy baby, and the next she is a brain damaged victim inside a shell of a body," Greco told jurors. ". . .all because the defendant was angry because she was crying louder than before and interrupting his video game playing.

"He took out his anger on a helpless, fragile girl."

Espinosa is an illegal immigrant from Mexico who authorities said snuck into the country five years ago. At the time his daughter was injured, he was unemployed. Greco said his job was to care for his daughter.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement has placed a hold on Espinosa.

Trial began Tuesday with Washoe District Court Judge Patrick Flanagan presiding. Espinosa declined to testify on his own behalf.

Answer
Poor little baby... Espinosa`s lawyer is a liar !!!

Abusive head trauma/inflicted traumatic brain injury or AHT (also called shaken baby/shaken impact syndrome or SBS) is a form of inflicted head trauma.

AHT can be caused by direct blows to the head, dropping or throwing a child, or shaking a child. Head trauma is the leading cause of death in child abuse cases in the United States.

How These Injuries Happen
Unlike other forms of inflicted head trauma, abusive head trauma results from injuries caused by someone vigorously shaking a child. Because the anatomy of infants puts them at particular risk for injury from this kind of action, the vast majority of victims are infants younger than 1 year old. The average age of victims is between 3 and 8 months, although these injuries are occasionally seen in children up to 4 years old.

The perpetrators in these cases are most often parents or caregivers. Common triggers are frustration or stress when the child is crying. Unfortunately, the shaking may have the desired effect: although at first the baby cries more, he or she may stop crying as the brain is damaged.

Approximately 60% of identified victims of shaking injury are male, and children of families who live at or below the poverty level are at an increased risk for these injuries as well as any type of child abuse. It is estimated that the perpetrators in 65% to 90% of cases are males â usually either the baby's father or the mother's boyfriend, often someone in his early twenties.

When someone forcefully shakes a baby, the child's head rotates about the neck uncontrollably because infants' neck muscles aren't well developed and provide little support for their heads. This violent movement pitches the infant's brain back and forth within the skull, sometimes rupturing blood vessels and nerves throughout the brain and tearing the brain tissue. The brain may strike the inside of the skull, causing bruising and bleeding to the brain.

The damage can be even greater when a shaking episode ends with an impact (hitting a wall or a crib mattress, for example), because the forces of acceleration and deceleration associated with an impact are so strong. After the shaking, swelling in the brain can cause enormous pressure within the skull, compressing blood vessels and increasing overall injury to its delicate structure.

fish everyday?

preston197

hey is it unhealthy to eat fish everyday?ive heard different stories, ive heard its bad to eat fish every day and to just eat like 4 times a week, then I hear somewhere else its very healthy for you,not sure what to believe lol,can anyone give me their opinions?thank you

Answer
Fish has mercury in it which is really bad for your body, and can cause birth defects in children. While fish is good for you, you need to research which fish have the lowest mercury levels, and which fish are not endangered.

By the way, the guy talking about eating a can of tuna a day, don't listen to him. Tuna has one of the highest levels of mercury, and is dangerous to consume large amounts.

For fetuses, infants, and children, the primary health effect of methylmercury is impaired neurological development. Methylmercury exposure in the womb, which can result from a mother's consumption of fish and shellfish that contain methylmercury, can adversely affect a baby's growing brain and nervous system. Impacts on cognitive thinking, memory, attention, language, and fine motor and visual spatial skills have been seen in children exposed to methylmercury in the womb. Recent human biological monitoring by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in 1999 and 2000 (PDF) (3 pp., 42 KB, About PDF) shows that most people have blood mercury levels below a level associated with possible health effects. More recent data from the CDC support this general finding.

Outbreaks of methylmercury poisonings have made it clear that adults, children, and developing fetuses are at risk from ingestion exposure to methylmercury. During these poisoning outbreaks some mothers with no symptoms of nervous system damage gave birth to infants with severe disabilities, it became clear that the developing nervous system of the fetus may be more vulnerable to methylmercury than is the adult nervous system.

For more information on fish consumption advisories across the country, visit EPA's fish consumption web pages.

In addition to the subtle impairments noted above, symptoms of methylmercury poisoning may include; impairment of the peripheral vision; disturbances in sensations ("pins and needles" feelings, usually in the hands, feet, and around the mouth); lack of coordination of movements; impairment of speech, hearing, walking; and muscle weakness. People concerned about their exposure to methylmercury should consult their physician.

Hope this helps! I've included links to this information, and a link to a mercury calculator. The calculator will help you determine how much fish you should eat in a week by what kind and the amount.

Take care :)
