What is the best baby Video monitor?

smile2besw

and where can it be purchased?

Answer
I feel sorry for sarcastic answers given to you -- seriously, I am satisfied with the Summer Infant Video Monitor - got it from Target, been great so far - less interference and I love how the handheld monitor can be on batteries or A/C power. Good luck!

Baby vedio monitor for $100 ?

Bonbon85

any suggestions??

Answer
I don't trust the video monitors. I recommend getting the AngelCare motion detector instead. Although you can't see the baby, an alarm sounds if the baby would quit breathing for any reason.

What type of baby monitors do you recommend?

mommy_titi

Answer
We have one made by Graco that has two receivers. That's nice because I can leave one in the bedroom all the time, and take the other receiver from room to room or to the backyard when my older child is playing and the baby is sleeping. Look for the option of using either a power cord or batteries, and multiple frequencies (so you can switch if you're picking up the neighbor's cordless phone).

There are also monitors that have more features that those basics. You can get one that has video if you would like to be able to see the baby in their crib. There's also a version that has two-way communication so you can talk to the baby over the monitor without going into their room.

But the basic one way, audio only monitor has worked well for us.

about baby...?

Q. need to know a list of supplies needed for baby for sister. include the most and you'll get best answer. [try not to use the same stuff other people are doing...but diapers for example well everyone can obviously say that]

Information
If you shop at Amazon, please use this link (it gives a donation to a baby organization) http://www.babycorner.org/donations.html

To eliminate gas, lay the baby on his back and gently âbicycleâ his legs.

Use Born Free bottles or glass; others have harmful chemicals that are bad for babies.

Breastfeed! Itâs so much better for babies.

Make sure the babyâs butt is completely dry before putting on the diaper to prevent diaper rash. Use a lot of cream with zinc oxide at the first sign of rash (after thoroughly air drying). Wipes can give babies diaper rash so cotton pads and water are better.

I suggest that you get the latest edition of the "Baby Bargains" book as a great buying guide, especially for car seats and cribs, where safety is a big concern.

Love your baby â thatâs what he needs most.

Has anyone used this baby monitor?

Shannon *B

http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2343185#

its the Movement and Sound monitor. i think its cool that it sounds an alarm when there is no movement for 20 second. even detects if your baby stops breathing. has anyone used this? do you like it? i want to get one because i don't want to co-sleep, this monitor would be safer. my neighbors little girl passed away at 2 months while co-sleeping. she suffocated in the blankets. you never think something like that will happen to your baby, but id rather not risk it. id rather have a good monitor.
wether they were practicing safe co-sleeping or not, im still not going to co-sleep with my baby. its my own personal preferance.

Answer
The monitor is great.

I had a very Premature baby & would never have slept a wink without it !!

I asked in the NICU before my daughter came home if these were any good because people always think they have false alarms. The doctor told me that these are very rarely false alarms. Many babies, & adults , have these "pauses" (as he put it) while they sleep. He said that when the alarm goes off it jolts the baby awake & they start breathing regularly again. They actually used to be used in hospitals many years ago but were replaced with the little strap on things they have today.

The alarm doesn't go off if you move off the pads either. We tried it once with no baby in the cot. We put our fingers on the side of the cot & the alrm didn't even go off then! (until we removed them completely for 20 secs.)

we were told not to panic if the alarm went off a couple of times a night. But to go to doctor asap if it is a regular occurence to check for sleep apnea.

I know some people will not agree with this , but I'm going from what doctors told me & personal experience only.

By the way, the alarm only went off a handful of times for me in the time I used it :)

Congrats on your baby by the way !!
:)

baby monitors which.......?

~~~~
what brand of baby monitor did you use?have any links and why you used this particular one?thanks to all!
Answer
I have the AngelCare monitor by BeBe Sounds. It comes with a pad you put underneath the mattress that detects breathing, and if 15 seconds go by with no movement an alarm sounds. Don't ask me how it works, because I have no idea. It has never gone off except once when she scooted to the corner of the crib. But it does work if she stops breathing, because if I take her out and forget to turn the monitor off, it starts beeping like crazy. Definitely helped me to sleep better at night!
Has anybody used the angelcare baby monitor?
Q. I am planning on getting the angelcare baby monitor it has the censor if breathing is not detected in 20 seconds there is an alarm, just wondering if anybody has used this one before and what did you think vs regular baby monitors. Thanks for your help.
Answer
I was going to buy it but my friend had too many problems with it. She took the baby out of the crib and the alarm didn't go off after 20 seconds. It went off a couple of times with her in the room and the baby breathing normally. Also, she had some major problems with interferance from other baby monitors. Others near to her had the same moniter and she would hear their children crying through the receptor. It's a scary time, but I had just a regualr monitor and my child is still alive. They are just trying to get you to pay more out of fear.
Baby breathing monitor?
How many of you mommies have bought any of the monitors on the links below?? Do they work good?? Not too many false alarms?? Would you recommend those ones or another brand??
Answer
i have 2 of them....i LOVE love love them. our master bedroom is upstairs, the kids room downstairs, and my husband works midnights. that monitor is that only thing that ever gives me piece of mind for sleep at night esp since i have horrible hearing.
they make a bunch of diffffernt kinds...digital ones, ones with room temp on it, ones with extra long sensor pads. i prefer the extra long sensor pads, and never get false alarms.
this was worth every penny, esp if you plan to have more kids...and the resell on them is great.
i highly recommend them. try it out, if you don't like it it than save the receipt and return it.
Baby Monitor Trouble!! Please Help.?
Bri Ana
My daughter is 4 months old and shares a room with us. We are fixing up the attick so we can hang out up there. I would like to be able to see her and here her on my cell phone. I have the samsung vibrant..The video baby monitors are so expensive and i dont have the money to buy one. I was wondering if there was a way to set up a wireless web cam and make it so i can see it on my phone and there wont be any delays. Please help me out.
Thank you!
Answer
Yes. You will need to get a webcam and set it up to stream onto a web page that has privacy settings. Then you will need to watch this webpage stream from your phone. That's the only way I know. Otherwise, you could always get a baby monitor on eBay, they are usually quite cheap there.
for anyone who's tried the heart monitor's to hear the baby?
l.clark79
how far along do you have to be before you can hear the baby's heart beat .a friend just give me hers and she lost the instructions.Any advice?I am almost 6 wks along.I know i have to be 12 wks before the dr.'s monitor can detect it with their monitor is it the same with this one or do i have to wait longer?
Answer
i bought one of those cheap $20 heart monitors and it is hard to find the heartbeat with those...first of all, they are not made to hear the heartbeat so clearly, the only way to do that is to get one like the OB doctor has...i used to take my stethoscope, which was one of the $200 ones and supposed to be the best, and i could never find his heartbeat...also, its hard to find the heartbeat....those monitors you buy at walmart are good just to hear the baby move and hickup...i used to sit there and call my dad and put the headphones to the phone to let him hear him hickup all the time...
as far as being 12 weeks along for the doctor to hear the heartbeat, i dont think thats right...i had my first check up at 7 weeks and my sons heartbeat was clear as day and they found it right away
can you feel braxton hicks in your back?
Bad
I have been having contractions for weeks, almost all day just at random times. Today they are in my back too, I thought only real contractions could be felt in your back, not BH. Last night I had to go to L&D because the baby had not been moving around, but they said everything was fine, however contractions were showing on the monitor. Do Braxton Hicks show on the the monitor too?
Thanks guys!
Answer
Time them for an hour, if they're occurring consistently and lasting about 1 minute in duration, then they might be real labor. After timing them call your doctor for advice.
You can do some things to help labor along. Remember to drink plenty of water to prevent labor stalls and slow labor. Walk alot, rotate your hips slowly while standing, do squats while holding on to something sturdy to help you balance and get some good rest too if you can. Walking alot will allow gravity to help speed your labor, hip rotations and squats will help your pelvis to open and make it easier for the baby to transition to the birth canal.
Here's a link to a great article to help you determine if you're in Pre-Labor ore Early Labor:
http://www.transitiontoparenthood.com/ttâ¦
To time your contractions:
Write down the starting time when your stomach tightens.
Then write down the time it stops. (How long was the contraction)
Doctors will ask you how close your contractions (from beginning of 1st contraction to the beginning of the next contraction) are and how long they are lasting.
Or if you're near the computer (or have an iPhone), use this:
http://www.contractionmaster.com/
Time your contractions for 1 hour, are they consistent?
Remember 5-1-1, Contractions every 5 minutes, lasting 1 minute in duration consistently for 1 hour. Then it's time to call the doctor and head to the hospital.
Active labor will grow stronger and more frequent over time (each contraction lasting about 1 minute in duration).
Hope this helps!
Best Wishes & Congratulations!
what type of camera is a spy camera?
iman a
im looking for a camera that you can put in one room and in another room you can see whats going on the place you put the camera in, actuallly i need it because my sister shes disabled eats all the food in the kitchen and i stay in the bedroom and cant watch her. her and my dad stay in the living room and my dad never watches her going into the kitchen. she eats all the meat cooked. i couldn't buy a lock for the refrigerator because i dont want to deal with opening it all the time it should be easy access. so what type of camera can do that like spying in another room
do you guys know any iphone or ipod apps that can do just that like download the app on your ipod that has a camera and put it in a living room and see the recording on your computer or something
Answer
Interesting question. You have two basic options.
1.) Video Baby monitor: Some can be used over the internet to monitor your kitchen anywhere, anytime. Can be wired or wireless. It's powerful and most mothers use it nowadays. Downside is, it's not discreet and once your sister knows it's there, she can find a way to evade it.
2.) Video Spy Cameras: Your best shot. They are covert, can be hidden anywhere. You can easily find wall-clocks with hidden cams, flowerpot, tissue box, even a tape recorder. I bet you can also find microwave oven with hidden cams, so many more.
Of course there are other options but these two are the cheapest options you can get.
Need a device for an elderly person to alert live-in nurse when they need them? Baby monitor didn't work.?
Pammy
Tried a baby monitor, but the nurse couldn't always hear her. Any suggestions? (I think the nurse snores and just doesn't hear my mom over baby monitor)
Answer
The device is the telephone.
Either to call another paid live in nurse who figures a way to hear their patient or the nurse sleeps with hers on vibrate in a pocket to wake her up.
H1N1 VACCINE for baby? please please read!!!?
So I am really torn on what to do. I have a 9 month old daughter and i have had every intention on getting her the regular flu shot and the swine flu vaccine, however i was just reading all this stuff online saying how dangerous the swine flu vaccine is. I was going to get it to protect my daughter but it sounds like this would be a bad idea. Does anyone know what the risks really are (besides pain and swelling at the sight of injection) Should i get it or just take my chances of her contracting the virus?
Answer
No!
--- On Fri, 7/24/09, Russell Blaylock wrote:
Linda,
No one should take the swine flu vaccine. It is one of the most dangerous vaccines ever devised. It contains an immune adjuvant called squalene (MF-59) which has been shown to cause severe autoimmune disorders such as MS, rheumatoid arthritis and Lupus. This is the vaccine adjuvant that is strongly linked to the Gulf War syndrome, which killed over 10,000 soldiers and caused a 200% increase in the fatal disease ALS (Lou Gehreg disease). This virus H1N1 kills by causing a "cytokine storm," which means that it cause the body's immune system to overreact and that is why it is killing young people and is a mild disease in the elderly. (The elderly have weakened immune systems.) This vaccine is a very powerful immune stimulator and carries the real possibility of making the lethality of the virus much greater..
One's best protection is vitamin D3. One should take 5000 IU a day now and when the diseas e begins to spread increase the dose to 15,000 IU a day. Vitamin D3 modulates the immune reaction, reducing the chance of an overreaction and stimulates the body to produce what are called antimicrobial peptides, which are powerful killers of viruses that does not involve immunity. This is dose related, which means the higher the dose of vitamin D3 the better the protection. Fish oils (the best is Carlson's Norwegian lemon flavored fish oil) also reduce immune overreaction. One teaspoon a day should be sufficient. For severe symptoms, one teaspoon twice a day. Antioxidants of various kinds also help. This includes, quercetin, curcumin, grapeseed extract, vitamin C and natural vitamin E. A good multivitamin/mineral such as Extend Core ( www.vrp.com ) is also essential.
Feel free to spread this around. People need to know how to protect themselves.
Do you believe in using electronics as baby-sitters?
iAnswer
Of course, many of you will answer "no" to this question, but realistically a large chunk of Americans do it.
Put on TV all day for toddlers.
Hand over the iPads.
Hand over the smart phones with games.
This stuff wasn't around when WE were toddlers.
In my opinion, children, young young children shouldn't be exposed to the electronics at all. But you can't hide it, so maybe monitoring the usage to a time limit a day, or a week.
What's your opinion? Are you one of those electronic babysitters?
All opinions respected!
Answer
Im in Australia and I will happily admit that my nearly 3 year old gets our Ipad and our Iphone if I need to get something done, normally maximum of 30 minutes, most definately not all day! And its a distraction/something fun for them to do while mummy is busy and cannot play with them right away.
Once my jobs are done, it's right back to playing on the swings/drawing/painting/tea party's/building cubbies etc..
Our Internet Connection is very bad and we are thinking of getting a new router. Any Suggestions.?
Trevor
We have a Belkin N450 Router. We have at least 10 Devices connected and the Router can handle it, we want to buy a new one of upgrade it. We have a Computer, 2 Ipads, 3 Iphones/Ipod, Xbox, Kindle Fire. What would you recommend.
Answer
Upgrading the router will not improve your Internet connection.
How fast is your Internet connection?
You can measure your Internet speed here: http://speedtest.net
That being said,
A wireless router connects two separate networks and manages the traffic between them.
In most home network applications the router connects your local group of computers and devices known as the LAN with the Internet, commonly called the WAN or Wide Area Network.
For example, If you have a 5 Mbps Internet connection, the maximum shared Internet bandwidth available to all of the devices connected to the router will be 5 Mbps.
Any bandwidth others users or devices on your connection are using will be deducted from the total WAN (Internet) bandwidth that is available to you.
If you have a 5 Mbps Internet connection and one user is utilizing 4 Mbps of the bandwidth to stream a Netflix movie, that only leaves 1 Mbps for all of the rest of the users on the LAN.
In simple terms, the more users you have the more speed will be required. Streaming video, such as Netflix and Hulu require a lot of bandwidth. Here are the minimum recommendations from Netflix. https://support.netflix.com/en/node/306
Many people would be likely be surprised at how many active connections their wireless router has. I have dozens. cell phones, tablets, iPods, game consoles, laptops, desktops, ROKU boxes, Internet enabled devices such as TVs and audio receivers, and the list goes on.
Fast wireless routers and connections are designed to stream large files on your LAN quickly. The high speed routers permit fast transfer of files between devices connected to your LAN, however WAN speed is still limited by your ISP. The only way to Improve your Internet speed is to upgrade your plan or switch to a faster ISP.
If you still want to upgrade for other reasons other than Internet speed,
It pretty much comes down to what features you want and how much you want to spend.
As far as the brand goes, the brand is not as important as the model. Some manufacturers release a good model but the next is crap. I would look at the Amazon reviews of models that interest you. Even if you don't buy from Amazon the reviews will tell you a lot about which models to avoid. Look for at least 15 or more reviews with a 4 star or better rating. Read a few and see if they sound like the particular model will work for your application.
For under $50, this Medialink is the most popular and highly reviewed model. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A3YN0Z0/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00A3YN0Z0&linkCode=as2&tag=excharge-20
If you want to spend a little more, many routers support "Dual Band". http://www.amazon.com/s/?_encoding=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&keywords=dual%20band%20router&linkCode=ur2&qid=1374595143&rh=n%3A172282%2Cn%3A541966%2Cn%3A300189%2Ck%3Adual%20band%20router%2Cp_72%3A1248879011&rnid=1248877011&tag=excharge-20
Dual band routers have multiple wireless radios enabling broadcast on the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands simultaneously. Using the 5 GHz band cuts down on interference from cordless phones and microwave ovens.. Not all devices can use the 5 GHz frequency. Many laptops and other devices only operate at 2.4 GHz. Thus the need for dual band routers.
In any case,
You should try to centrally locate your wireless router or gateway up high and away from dense walls and electrical and 2.4 GHz wireless interference such as microwave ovens, cordless phones, baby monitors, etc.
Wireless signals, including 2.4 and 5 GHz, are affected by many factors including distance, wall density, electrical interference, directional antenna range, etc.
All of these factors will affect your actual wireless range. As wireless connection quality varies the connection speeds are renegotiated. The WLAN connection may start at 150 Mbps and end up at less than 10 Mbps or drop entirely.
Your best bet is always a direct Ethernet connection to the router, especially for fixed devices that don't need mobility. Ethernet is unaffected by wireless interference and will give you a rock solid, stable network connection.
Good Luck...
