2 way video baby monitor?

Jill B

Is there a video baby monitor on the market you would recommend that also has a built in 2 way talk that allows you to talk to baby and soothe them without going into their room? Also if so, does the receiver allow you to add another camera too it as well and communicate with another child in a different room?

Answer
This is a 2 way monitor and has 2 cameras you can use for your children.

Baby Video Monitors, need suggestions-?

Any experience w/ Baby vid moniotors? What was your experience and who makes the best? Thanks!

Answer
I have the Summer brand video monitor and LOVE it! It has a "snooze" button so you can turn off the video part (sound still works) and don't get the TV glow disrupting your sleep. It also has "night vision" so you don't have to keep a light on and disturb Baby.

Which baby monitor should I buy?

Martha

Hello!
My daughter is 4 months old and realized we've not got a baby monitor! I donât want to be spending too much but after some research I see there is a huge difference in prices from about $30 - $200s.
So what would you recommend, I want a video monitor which doesn't need to have lots of fancy features, only a reliable one.

Thanks!

Answer
I really searched about baby monitors before we bought ours. So here are my tips:

Before buying one,
Think what you need:
Do you want a video or sound only monitor? Do you want motion sensor feature etc.

Know your house and neighborhood, and other wireless devices:
Are walls thick, and do you live in a place with lots of parents. If so select a long range one with multichannel option. If not you will always experience interference problems. Chose a digital baby monitor!

I've been using a video one called Motorola MBP36 - its really good actually and has night vision which is a definite plus, it looks a bit like a really big ipod, which is kind of cool. I live in a house with thick walls and use it with no problem and even in long range the sound and video is very clear. It has many other features too like night vision and temperature alarm.

So I really recommend you to buy a motorola mbp36 baby monitor as Iâm very happy with it.

Answer
First of all your man sounds amazing. Good for him!!

Secondly, check out http://www.kijiji.com I have gotten free crib mattress, exersaucer, baby monitor, stroller, safety gate, $15 playpen, $100 travel system, $20 change table, $50 glider, 3 boxes of clothes for $15. I've even seen free cribs on there. Of course everything is used but if you check it out before you pay for it you can see the condition. But I check it daily, if you keep an eye on it you can find some amazing good deals.

edit: ignore the rude rude comment someone left. That was uncalled for!! Who is she to judge? What does she know about your life? nothing. She doesn't know that you didn't use bc. BC isn't 100%...what a judgmental ignoramus.

Anyone Have a Summer Baby Video Monitor? 10 points?

bee

mine is occasionally saying "no signal" what is going on?!? Should I return it for another one???

Answer
I don't have one, but my BFF does and I believe she said her cordless phone and her laptop make hers do that if its too close together, but if you know that's not the case, I would definitely bring it back and try another one!

Sorry my answer didn't appeal to someone, but just for the record...you do what's best for you and your baby hon, I have a regular monitor and plan on investing in the video one for my next one as my house is pretty big (over 4k sq ft.) and sometimes I'm downstairs and the nursery is upstairs so to NOT have a monitor would be INSANE, so that advice is a bit bogus!!!

Are plain, old baby monitors adequate?

Mariposa

I'm being a bit proactive and have decided to educate myself on all these baby gadgets. I had a pregnancy that ended in a miscarriage, so even though I was only pregnant a short time, I remember how stressed I was trying to figure out all of this stuff.
So my question is... I thought baby monitors were a dime a dozen. Never knew there were motion sensors, 49 mhz and 900 mhz, video, laptop viewable, etc etc etc. The reviews saying how some mother's felt their babies lives were saved by the motion sensors got me into "paranoid-mommy-to-be" mode. When I was little, everyone had those Graco, lights when the baby makes noise versions. Does anyone find that these are perfectly adequate for their babies, or are the motion sensors/video models really a better choice? Keeping in mind that I'm trying to restrain myself from one day spending thousands of dollars on things a baby will use for a year. :)

Thank you!

Answer
I didn't use one - we live in an apartment, were never going to be that far from the baby, I'm skeptical about gagetry, and I had a sixth sense that alerted me whenever my little one had a hiccup in the next room.

If I'd had a big house I might have gotten a simple monitor, but I think a lot of these things are designed to separate you from your wallet ...and will surely rob you of more sleep than you can afford in general.

Just my $.02 - and I know how it feels to be prenatally paranoid. I'm sure I had plenty of my own issues although this wasn't one of mine. :)

Best baby video monitor?

mouthwash4

I would like to get a video monitor for our baby daughter as we are planning to move her into her own room very soon.

I have looked up different monitors but it's a minefield! I just want the best there is and I don't mind if it costs more, can anyone recommend a good video monitor?.

Thanks, Leah.

Answer
Anything you choose, I would not recommend anything wireless. This gives thief's a clear view in to your baby's room. The local news here did a big story on that recently. I know this drives up the costs but its better to be safe than sorry.

Buying a Video Monitor for your baby?

CharlotteW

Hello moms (and dads)

The time has come where my son has outgrown his bassinet and he is moving to the nursery. He is four months old. Like all parents, I have fears. I feel like my fears are exaggerated as I have experienced unexpected deaths of younger love ones in the past couple of years

I figured why not try to help myself breathe easier and purchase a video monitor? Whether it makes a difference in his sleeping health or not, if I can rest easier maybe its worth something. My non-parent friends think I am crazy for wanting this.

What were your experiences with a video monitor? Did it help you?

thanks!!!!!

Answer
It's incredibly helpful, and I honestly don't know what I would've done without it, especially when I was worrying about SIDS and other sleeping related deaths (or crib deaths). The bottom line is a video monitor can't really hurt you, only help you. There really are no downsides. Trust me, when your non-parent friends become parents, they'll understand.

Now that my older two are a little older (2 and 3) we use their old video monitors in their playroom, so if I need to run and check on my youngest or put a load of laundry in, etc. I can still see that they're safe. The video monitor has MANY other uses, beyond the infant years.

I recommend getting the Summer Infant Complete Coverage monitor. It's the one we have, and I absolutely love it (and I've tried about 5 other brands lol). http://www.target.com/Summer-Infant-Complete-Coverage-Handheld/dp/B001N44UVW/ref=br_1_6?ie=UTF8&id=Summer%20Infant%20Complete%20Coverage%20Handheld&node=1041936&searchSize=30&searchView=grid3&searchPage=1&sr=1-6&qid=1281368534&rh=&searchBinNameList=target_com_category-bin%2Cstyle_name%2Ctarget_com_brand-bin%2Ctarget_com_primary_color-bin%2Cprice&searchRank=pmrank&frombrowse=1

Do ALL baby monitors produce static throughout the day?

I had a basic Safety First baby monitor. I think it cost all of $18 USD. Every night it would go through these spasms of 10 minutes of nothing except static. I would unplug everything that did not need to be plugged in to help stop it but it didn't.

The other day I bought a Fisher-price Lights & Sounds baby monitor for about $ 40 USD. It seems to be working well but it ALSO produces a TON of static. I have tried it on both channels...still goes through spasms.

Has this happened to anyone else? Or is there something with the electrical system in my apartment?
Blue- That is SO creepy and very weird that you picked that up! LOL

Answer
I have the same Fisher Price monitor that you do. It is ALWAYS staticy, but from my understanding, all monitors are. Oh, and if you keep a cell phone too close to it, it makes funky screechy sort of noises. I just turn a fan on at night for "white noise" and I don't really notice the static anymore.

Does anyone know how to eliminate the static noise my baby monitor emits while on my night table?

Jason Z

Answer
It isn't unusual for static to be traveling right thru your electric wire as result of causes outside and even away from you home.

The most affective home device creating static would be florescent lighting of any kind. They can even buzz a television if the tv has insufficient shielding installed.. Second to that would be small motors such as clocks and fans of home appliances and electronic toys such as computers,

You may not hear the noise of these devices but they do emit a static frequency that can be amplified with a microphone and transmitted elsewhere such as does your baby monitor.

There are monitors with squelch controls but can be very costly as well.

Lowering the input level on the monitor in the baby's room will help some.

It would also help a great deal if you placed that one on a soft foam pad because your home is literally satuated with sounds you do not hear and a great deal of this is bouncing around furniture, walls and ceilings. The soft foam will insulate the baby monitor from carrying sound from the stand or table it is placed on.

What type of baby monitors are best?

baby movement monitors, sound monitors

Answer
If your going for a movement monitor, AngelCare is the absolute best! It has a bunch of different really cool features and works really good. Mine came with two receivers, both cordless with their own recharging stands. They tell the room temperature right on the receiver and you can set it so that if the temp changes so many degrees and alarm will go off. Another really great feature that I love is that you can shut off the sound coming out of the hand held receiver, but it turns on as soon as the baby makes any noise. I'm a sound sleeper and it takes a lot to wake me, so I have to have the volume turned way up on the receiver. With most monitors, having the volume way up, you hear a loud white noise. Being able to turn on the feature means that there is no white noise, but when the baby makes noise it's still loud enough to wake a deep sleeper up.

There are still a few other features that are nice. And it's pretty easy to use. You should take a look at it. I did pay somewhere around $150 for mine though, so you'd have to be willing to put in the investment. Which was definitely worth it!

ETA: This is the one I have:
http://www.angelcare-monitor.com/United-States/en/products/angelcare-monitor-AC401-deluxe
I actually still use it with my 15 month old, movement sensor and all. I have no false alarms even with her moving off the center of the mattress. I don't really need the movement monitor anymore, I'm kind of over that anxiety, but I just haven't un-hooked it. Plus, it will be nice if (more like when) she learns to escape from her crib.

3 week old baby, scared to have him sleep in my bedroom?

i have been sleeping downstairs with him because im scared my room is to hot as i sweat at night because its so warm, i don't know how close i can put his basket to my bed. im so paranoid over him

Answer
Well keep in mind that babies need to be a bit warmer than us. So if your room is just a bit warm, baby should be completely comfortable. You could always lower the temperature in your room if the heat is the reason it's so warm, or turn on the air conditioner to help cool it down. You can crack a window or turn on a fan. And you can always dress the baby in less clothing. He doesn't have to be in multiple layers all the time. If a onesie is enough for him to be comfortable, that's fine. If you really don't want him in your room you can always put him in his own room and just put a baby monitor near him.

Why will my water monitor lizard only eat fish?

ReptileGir

I have offered my baby water monitor lizard crickets, mealworms, pinky mice, and fish but he won't eat anything but the goldfish. I am 16 and I have had this monitor for about three weeks. I ordered him online without my parents permission. They haven't even noticed his presence. I have been keeping him in a 75 gallon terrarium in my room. He has proper lighting and heat. I don't know whats wrong I have always read that water monitors require insects, fish, and rodents.
To the person that called me a he, I'm a girl.....

Answer
Well well well, if it isn't the same little girl who called me some names because I told her she was doing the wrong thing by thinking she could keep one of the largest lizards in the world hidden in her closet. You don't have to worry about what to feed because I can guarantee you that very soon, you will be getting rid of it because you will either realize that you have no business with it or because your parents make you get rid of it. Honestly, I think you're just joking because no one can be this foolish. Even if you're serious, I think you are lieing about the cage. You showed a photo of the enclosure you planned on keeping it in in one of your previous questions and it was a 10 gallon tank, not a 75 gallon tank. There's no way you acquired a 75 gallon aquarium and are keeping it hidden from your parents. And I doubt that you have any idea of how to care for one anyway. Goldfish are one of the worst things you could possibly feed it. And this lizard will be 3 to 4 feet in a year. How are you going to hide it from your parents then?

If anyone thinks I'm being too harsh to this girl, think about how harsh she is being by trying to hide the second heaviest lizard in the world in her closet. This is not an animal that a child should own, especially in these conditions. Now it's going to die a miserable death because she just had to have one. That's what's harsh.

Savannah Monitor lizard questions?

Bonn

I'm 15 and my mom is thinking about letting me get one. I've studied them and understand it takes Time to tame and money to feed their diets as well, but I have a few questions.
What size of cage is good for a baby to start in? What is a good adult sized cage I can think about getting/building? What is the price for frozen pinky mice and how often will it need to be fed these?
Thanks!!!(: oh and one last question is; does sound irritate them and will a whole room outdoors be best to avoid indoor sounds irritating them?

Answer
Babies can be kept in 40 gallon breeder for a couple months but will need an adult cage at 6' x 4' at least but 8' x 4' is better pinkies are not a good diet as babies feed him large crickets super worms and small roaches as a treat you can give him a boiled egg these are good to use when taming as an adult mice don't make a good diet they can be fed mice about once a week but no more insted start a roach colony they are easy to breed

Wifi problems ?? Help ?

As soon as I go into my bedroom, I lose wifi connection on my iphone but it connects perfectly on my laptop. What's going on?

Answer
Different WiFi devices vary in wireless range and performance.

Wireless signals are affected by many factors including distance, wall density, electrical interference, directional antenna range, etc.

All of these factors will affect your actual wireless range. As wireless connection quality varies the connection speeds are renegotiated. The WLAN connection between your WiFi device and your wireless router may start at 150 Mbps and end up at less than 10 Mbps or drop entirely.

High performance routers generally have a much better wireless range than their cheaper competitors.

However, Just because a particular wireless router model works good at one location does not guarantee that it will have similar performance in a different location due to variances in the factors listed above.

You should try to centrally locate your wireless router or gateway up high and away from dense walls and electrical and 2.4 GHz wireless interference such as microwave ovens, cordless phones, baby monitors, etc.

You could also try adjusting the position of the router or relocating your device closer to the wireless router to obtain a stronger signal.

If you still have a weak wireless signal you can either get a wireless extender or a wireless adapter with better range for your WiFi device.

For a iPhone you cant replace the wireless adapter like you can on a laptop, so you'll need a stronger WiFi signal.

Devices such as wireless extenders can expand your wireless range. The wireless range extender receives weak wireless signals and repeats them to extend the signal range to greater distances.

Here are the two most popular highly rated models on Amazon.

Securifi Almond - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0087NZ31S/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B0087NZ31S&linkCode=as2&tag=excharge-20

Good Luck...

Our Internet Connection is very bad and we are thinking of getting a new router. Any Suggestions.?

Trevor

We have a Belkin N450 Router. We have at least 10 Devices connected and the Router can handle it, we want to buy a new one of upgrade it. We have a Computer, 2 Ipads, 3 Iphones/Ipod, Xbox, Kindle Fire. What would you recommend.

Answer
Upgrading the router will not improve your Internet connection.

How fast is your Internet connection?

You can measure your Internet speed here: http://speedtest.net

That being said,

A wireless router connects two separate networks and manages the traffic between them.

In most home network applications the router connects your local group of computers and devices known as the LAN with the Internet, commonly called the WAN or Wide Area Network.

For example, If you have a 5 Mbps Internet connection, the maximum shared Internet bandwidth available to all of the devices connected to the router will be 5 Mbps.

Any bandwidth others users or devices on your connection are using will be deducted from the total WAN (Internet) bandwidth that is available to you.

If you have a 5 Mbps Internet connection and one user is utilizing 4 Mbps of the bandwidth to stream a Netflix movie, that only leaves 1 Mbps for all of the rest of the users on the LAN.

In simple terms, the more users you have the more speed will be required. Streaming video, such as Netflix and Hulu require a lot of bandwidth. Here are the minimum recommendations from Netflix. https://support.netflix.com/en/node/306

Many people would be likely be surprised at how many active connections their wireless router has. I have dozens. cell phones, tablets, iPods, game consoles, laptops, desktops, ROKU boxes, Internet enabled devices such as TVs and audio receivers, and the list goes on.

Fast wireless routers and connections are designed to stream large files on your LAN quickly. The high speed routers permit fast transfer of files between devices connected to your LAN, however WAN speed is still limited by your ISP. The only way to Improve your Internet speed is to upgrade your plan or switch to a faster ISP.

If you still want to upgrade for other reasons other than Internet speed,

It pretty much comes down to what features you want and how much you want to spend.

As far as the brand goes, the brand is not as important as the model. Some manufacturers release a good model but the next is crap. I would look at the Amazon reviews of models that interest you. Even if you don't buy from Amazon the reviews will tell you a lot about which models to avoid. Look for at least 15 or more reviews with a 4 star or better rating. Read a few and see if they sound like the particular model will work for your application.

For under $50, this Medialink is the most popular and highly reviewed model. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A3YN0Z0/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00A3YN0Z0&linkCode=as2&tag=excharge-20

If you want to spend a little more, many routers support "Dual Band". http://www.amazon.com/s/?_encoding=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&keywords=dual%20band%20router&linkCode=ur2&qid=1374595143&rh=n%3A172282%2Cn%3A541966%2Cn%3A300189%2Ck%3Adual%20band%20router%2Cp_72%3A1248879011&rnid=1248877011&tag=excharge-20

Dual band routers have multiple wireless radios enabling broadcast on the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands simultaneously. Using the 5 GHz band cuts down on interference from cordless phones and microwave ovens.. Not all devices can use the 5 GHz frequency. Many laptops and other devices only operate at 2.4 GHz. Thus the need for dual band routers.

In any case,

You should try to centrally locate your wireless router or gateway up high and away from dense walls and electrical and 2.4 GHz wireless interference such as microwave ovens, cordless phones, baby monitors, etc.

Wireless signals, including 2.4 and 5 GHz, are affected by many factors including distance, wall density, electrical interference, directional antenna range, etc.

All of these factors will affect your actual wireless range. As wireless connection quality varies the connection speeds are renegotiated. The WLAN connection may start at 150 Mbps and end up at less than 10 Mbps or drop entirely.

Your best bet is always a direct Ethernet connection to the router, especially for fixed devices that don't need mobility. Ethernet is unaffected by wireless interference and will give you a rock solid, stable network connection.

Good Luck...

what's the best type of baby monitor?

penmaster

we're having our first baby and we're not sure of all the listening monitors out there, which one is best?

Answer
From my ConsumerReports.Org subscriptions:

Baby monitors
Baby monitors are an extra set of ears--and, in some cases, eyes--that allow you to keep tabs on your sleeping baby. There are two basic types: audio and video/audio. Both operate within a selected radio frequency band to send sound from the babyâs room to a receiver. Each monitor consists of a transmitter (child unit) and one or more receivers (parent units). Video/audio monitors have a small wall-mounted or tabletop camera to transmit images to a video monitor.

A baby monitorâs challenge is to transmit recognizable sound (and/or images) over a distance with minimal interference--static, buzzing, or irritating noise--from other electronic products and transmitters, including cordless phones that share the same frequency bands, cellular phones, appliances, and even fluorescent lights. Interference can also be hearing someone elseâs conversation, which makes it difficult, if not impossible, to decipher the sounds coming from your monitor. Interference can also mean fuzzy reception in video monitors. Overall, interference is probably the biggest complaint parents have about baby monitors.

SHOPPING SECRETS

Feel free to skip this purchase. Some parents are reassured by the constant surveillance of a babyâs every whimper and movement. Others find it nerve-racking and feel like they have to be hypervigilant. Decide which category youâre in before you go shopping. A monitor isnât a must-have. If you live in a small house or apartment or want a break when your baby is sleeping--which is legitimate--itâs OK not to have one.

Consider your home and lifestyle. You may appreciate a monitor with both sound and lights, so you can âseeâ your babyâs cries. The louder he cries, the more lights light up. If youâll be taking business calls during naptime, for example, it can be helpful to turn the sound down low and rely on the lights. A video monitor can serve the same purpose, though we believe an audio monitor with lights can suffice. Similarly, if you live in a large house, you may want a monitor with two receivers rather than just one. In general, look for monitors with features that make it easy to move about, such as a compact parent unit that clips onto your belt. Try it on before buying, if possible; antennas have been known to poke the wearer.

Factor in your phone. To minimize the possibility of interference, choose a baby monitor that operates on a different frequency band from other wireless products in your home. A 2.4GHz cordless phone and a 2.4GHz monitor can interfere with each other. The 2.4GHz frequency band is widely used for cordless phones.

Consider digital if you have nearby neighbors with babies. If you want to be sure the sounds transmitted by your monitor are heard only by you and not by neighbors who might have a similar model (or a cordless phone using the same frequency band), go with a digital monitor, not an analog one. This will also ensure that the sounds you hear are coming from your baby and not the neighborâs. Analog monitors operate on a particular frequency band, much like a radio, sending signals from monitor to receiver in a straight shot. Digital monitors, on the other hand, encode the signal as it travels between the monitor and the receiver, making it nearly impossible for the sounds to be heard by others, and reduces the possibility of running into interference from other electronic devices. (Learn more about wireless interference.)

Learn the return policy. Before you buy or register for any wireless product, such as a baby monitor, be sure the store will let you return or exchange it, in case you canât get rid of interference problems. If you receive a monitor as a baby shower gift and know where it was purchased, try it before the retailerâs return period (usually 30 days) runs out.

WHATâS AVAILABLE

The major brands of baby monitors, in alphabetical order, are: Evenflo (www.evenflo.com), Fisher-Price (www.fisher-price.com), Graco (www.gracobaby.com), Mobicam (www.getmobi.com), Philips (www.hearmybaby.com), Safety 1st (www.safety1st.com), Sony (www.sony.com), Summer Infant (www.summerinfant.com), The First Years (www.thefirstyears.com), and Unisar BébéSounds (www.bebesounds.com). Prices range from $15 to $200 for audio monitors, $100 to $200 for audio/video monitors. The higher the price, the more features and frills.

RECOMMENDATIONS

Among the models we tested, the digital baby monitors are top-rated. Short of DECT technology, thereâs no guarantee against interference with either digital or analog monitors, although digital monitors are less susceptible and more private. One digital model in particular, the Philips SCD 589, is loaded with features, and since it operates in the fairly lightly used, for now, 1.9GHZ frequency band, itâs unlikely to pick up interference. However, at $200, itâs pricey. (See our full report on this model.)

If you anticipate interference and want to spend less than $200, buy a less-pricey digital model thatâs not in the same frequency band as other wireless products in your home, and consider models with more than two channels. The other digital monitors we tested were very good: The Graco iMonitor ($90) has two parent units; a similar version with one parent unit is available for $60. The Summer Infant Secure Sounds ($50) is a good choice for privacy, though, like the Graco iMonitor, it has fewer frills than the Philips SCD 589. See our full monitor Ratings (available to
subscribers
) for details.

We suggest avoiding the Evenflo WhisperConnect Sensa ($50). It has a Pet Sensor, which is designed to alert you to any unusual movement around your babyâs crib--a cat or other pet climbed in, say. That feature worked well, but you can easily keep pets away from the crib by closing the door to your babyâs room. In addition, we found that one of the three samples we tested had an annoying problem: The âout of rangeâ alarm would go off at random. This happened over and over again with that particular sample, and once or twice with one of the other two samples we tested.

The audio/video monitors we tested have small color screens, and unlike earlier models, reasonably good pictures. However, we found them to be susceptible to interference, particularly from microwave ovens in use. Some models, such as the MobiCam ($190), let you tape to a VCR or watch your monitor on the television set. But overall, we donât see much need for a video baby monitor.

Highest rated one was the Philips Digital SCD 589 for 200$, the next one right after that was the The First Years Digital for 50$.

Suggestions on good baby monitors?

Holly

I have a set of Fisher Price Sounds n Lights baby monitors, and their ability to pick up the tiniest sounds is great, but at random times they will just squeal extremely loud in a high pitched noise. It will even wake up my 5 week old daughter. She is a preemie, and she's only at 37 weeks now - so she's having stomach problems that hurt her, so the sleep she can get is precious for her.

Does anyone have any really good experience with a certain monitor? This is my first baby and I'm getting used to waking up to her cries - so I'd like the sensitivity of the monitors to be the same as these, I want to hear her LOUD and clear on the monitor. And the high pitches isn't due to other electronics, I just have an electronic clock in her room. Sometimes if you get close with a cell phone it'll do it - but 90% of the time it just does it randomly and loud loud loud!

Any mothers with advice, I'd appreciate it :)

I'm going to recommend the Sony Baby Call Monitor. We purchased it because it was the only one on the market that would not affect the cell phone usage in the house (and we figured they were all pretty much the same otherwise). You can get it on Amazon.com for about $30: http://www.amazon.com/NTM-910YLW-Sony-Baby-Nursery-Monitor/dp/B000S35QLC/ref=br_it_dp_o_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=1WDSCNEPMTGUH&coliid=I3CN073HZ5ZDKX
It also comes in a set with two receivers.

We liked it because you can adjust the sensitivity. There's a wheel on the side to adjust the volume of your baby's cry. This way, you can get used to her waking you up without being shocked out of your own sleep. Plus, our daughter made lots of noises in her sleep that kept us awake. We were able to set the volume so we didn't hear those noises, but did hear her crying.

The only experience they have with squealing, is if you unplug the baby's monitor from the wall. It's more of an alert system, so you hear the squeal on your end when someone's messing with the other monitor.

Also, the receiver gets real staticky when the microwave is on.

well im looking for a baby monitor that has a screen and has a hand held monitor like this http://www.target.com/Summer-Complete-Coverage-Monitor-Handheld/dp/B001N44UVW/ref=br_1_27?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=1&searchView=grid5&searchNodeID=1041936&node=1041936&sr=1-27&searchRank=pmrank&searchPage=1&searchSize=30&id=Summer%20Complete%20Coverage%20Monitor%20Handheld&qid= thing is i need one that i could add another camera... is that one able to have more than one camera? or is there another one like this package that is capable of having two camera

Answer
Not sure what this one does. I purchased a video baby monitor and it was the worst thing ever. After that I just got a regular security camera that mounts and is wireless and has a box that is plugged into the tv. You can add more camera's and tv boxes to more than one tv in the house and these are a whole lot better quality and if you look around you can find one that is cheaper than the baby ones also.
