will I need a splitter?
also,I have 2 wireless routers if a necessary detail or if the second rourer is necessary at all.

Answer
The broadband modem connects to the router port labeled WAN or Internet via a standard Ethernet patch cable that usually is included with the router.

There are usually 4 LAN ports on the router to connect PCs and other devices via Ethernet cables if need be.

Wireless connections require security configuration to prevent anyone with a WiFi in range of your router from connecting to your network. They could do malicious deeds, such as hack into your network, or just leech off of your Internet bandwidth.

Wireless setup is not too difficult, Just follow the instructions in the router manual or wizard set up program. If you're having problems either pay someone to set it up for you or find a knowledgeable friend to configure it. Once the wireless network settings are configured it's a fairly trouble-free system.

For gaming you would be much better off with a Ethernet connection.

Wireless signals are affected by many factors including wall density, electrical interference, directional antenna range, etc. All of these factors will affect your actual wireless range.

Just because a particular wireless router works good at one location does not guarantee that it will have similar performance in a different location due to variance in the factors listed above.

You should try to centrally locate your wireless router or gateway up high and away from dense walls and electrical and 2.4 GHz wireless interference such as microwave ovens, cordless phones, baby monitors, etc.

By nature, interference in wireless systems causes problems with smooth, consistent speeds.

Excessive latency (ping) can cause your online games to lag. Your ping may be 30 ms and wireless interference could cause it to spike to 200 ms or more.

The best solution would be to use a wired (Ethernet) connection between your gaming device and the router. You can run Ethernet cables up to 100 meters.

MULTIPLE ROUTERS:
Unless you have experience in network configuration, it's not a good idea to use multiple routers unless you turn off the routing functions and use them as wireless access points. Your wireless signals will interfere with each other if they're operating on the same wireless channel. A router also acts as a DHCP server to assign IP addresses, you only want one DHCP service running.

Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is an auto configuration protocol used on IP networks. Computers that are connected to IP networks must be configured before they can communicate with other computers on the network. DHCP allows a computer to be configured automatically, eliminating the need for intervention by a network administrator. It also provides a central database for keeping track of computers that have been connected to the network. This prevents two computers from accidentally being configured with the same IP address. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dynamic_Host_Configuration_Protocol

You'll need to manually configure the second router before placing it into service. The IP address needs changed so it doesn't conflict with the first router, the DHCP functions should also be disabled on the second router.

You'll have to connect a PC or laptop directly to the second router via Ethernet and log into it's interface to change it's IP. You'll want to change this to something that doesn't conflict with the first router but is in the same subnet.

Plug a Ethernet cable from LAN port on the first router into one of the LAN ports on the second router, Don't use the second router's WAN port for anything.

Use non overlapping wireless channels such as 1, 6, 11. You can use the same SSID for everything. If you turn of the wireless radio on the first router this step is unnecessary.

For example if you main router has an IP of 192.168.1.1 and it broadcasts on channel 1.

Set your second router as an access point with an IP of 192.168.1.2 and have it broadcast on channel 6.

Although it is not absolutely necessary, I would also reserve the second router's IP in the first router's configuration or set DHCP to assign a range that doesn't include the second router. For example if your devices had the IPs listed above and you wanted to allocate up to 20 DHCP IP addresses you could set the range from 192.168.1.10 to 192.168.1.30. This way in case the second router were powered off for some reason DHCP would not assign 192.168.1.2 to another device which would cause an IP conflict when the second router was powered back up.

Good Luck...

Which wireless N router is best in your opinion?

Vladimirs

I have DIR-655 Extreme N router, but whenever I download something wireless signal especially on 2-nd floor gets very weak or loosing signal completely on devices like Roku. I plan on replacing this router for: ASUS RT-N66U Dual-Band Wireless-N900 Gigabit Router. Hopefully it will transmit better signal, what do you think? Previously had experience which was not all the pleasant with Netgear and Linksys router ..of course they were not the top ones, but I am being cautious in my pick now.

Thanks!

Answer
The range of your wireless radio is limited to about a hundred feet. Once you exceed this range you can no longer connect to your wireless router.

Wireless signals are affected by many factors including wall density, electrical interference, directional antenna range, etc.

Depending on the size of your house and the factors listed above, you may need one or more wireless access points or wireless range extenders to cover all areas adequately.

Many wireless connections also experience interference from microwave ovens and cordless phones which interfere with the 2.4 GHz band.

Dual band routers have multiple wireless radios enabling broadcast on the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands simultaneously.

Using the 5 GHz band cuts down on interference from cordless phones and microwave ovens..

Not all devices can use the 5 GHz frequency. Many laptops and other devices only operate at 2.4 GHz. Thus the need for dual band routers.

Just because a particular wireless router works good at one location does not guarantee that it will have similar performance in a different location due to variance in the factors listed above.

If you are getting a new wireless router try to centrally locate it up high and away from dense walls and electrical and 2.4 GHz wireless interference such as microwave ovens, cordless phones, baby monitors, etc.

If you still have a weak wireless signal, there are solutions.

Devices such as wireless extenders can expand your wireless range if need be. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004YAYM06/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=excharge-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B004YAYM06

The wireless range extender receives weak wireless signals and repeats them to extend the signal range to greater distances. Some models include 4 Ethernet ports in addition to the wireless radio.

Wireless routers are fairly inexpensive. http://www.amazon.com/s/?_encoding=UTF8&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957&field-keywords=wireless%20router&url=search-alias%3Daps&sprefix=wireless%20ro%2Caps%2C490&tag=excharge-20

As far as the brand goes, the brand is not as important as the model. Some manufacturers release a good model but the next is crap. I would look at the Amazon reviews of models that interest you. Even if you don't buy from Amazon the reviews will tell you a lot about which models to avoid. Look for at least 15 or more reviews with a 4 star or better rating. Read a few and see if they sound like the particular model will work for your application.

Good Luck...

Based on your actual experience, what is the best baby video monitor for sale?

I've heard so many different, mixed reviews. I'm mostly concerned about them not working with our wireless network (which I don't know how to tweak). If anyone has a good one that works well with a wireless network that doesn't cost TONS of money, please pass on the info. Thanks!

Answer
What do you mean working with wireless network? Most baby monitors are wireless, but they donât connect to a modem. Do you just mean without a cord or actually hooked up to a computer? I have been using Summer Infant Hand Held Video baby monitor for 6 month now and canât complain. It sees at night and has color. The monitor is hand held so you can carry it with you where you want to. At first the battery would last 3-4 days now it lasts 2 days, then you have to recharge, but it can be on when charging. I got mine on eBay at half the cost. If you still donât have your baby and donât need one ASAP. Start looking for deals. I got ours 2 month before the baby was born but it took me 4 weeks to get the deal I wanted.
Iâm also using a wireless connection on my laptop and there is no interference with the monitor, itâs working perfectly fine. Also it does NOT pick up cell phones, radios or other babies.

What can I use to transmit noise?

baby monitor with iphone app image

Well long story short, I'm scaring my friend. She's my neighbor and I live in the house next to her. Basically I need something that can make noises and can be controlled from another place. I considered a baby monitor (too expensive), or some kind of walkie talkie (probably not loud enough). If there is an app or something I have an iPad or iPod touch I could leave there. There is wifi there and the house next door is within less than 10 yards away so if its some kind of radio, i can here it.
@zachary I would leave it in her closet or attic since her roommate is in on it she could help and make sure she wouldn't break it

Answer
I wouldn't leave an iPhone/Pad outside... If you have a friend or something that you can borrow a home theater system from, you could put one of the speakers outside facing the other house and control the volume and sounds from inside with the amplifier.

Which food give my 2year old baby boy?

Kamran

Answer
Bless his little tummy :) Serve foods that are packed with the nutrients he needs to grow healthy and strong, and limit the sweets as much as possible.

I continue to introduce new flavors and textures to my 2 year old daughter to help her develop a taste for healthy foods. She loves all types of fruits and most vegetables.

Here are some of the things she loves:

*Breakfast: Cup of a healthy Whole Grain Cereals mixed with sliced strawberries, blueberries or bananas.
*Lunch: Vegetable soup with a piece of whole-wheat bread (she specially loves broccoli cheddar soup), baked chicken with a side of cooked carrots & mashed potatoes, or brown rice with a medley of green vegetables are a few of her favorites.
*Dinner: Whole-wheat pasta with mozzarella cheese and zucchini.

Remember, as you continue to introduce various types of nuts to your son, it is important to watch closely for any potential allergies. I would also suggest you download our free app, as food recalls are unfortunate common events that can have serious consequences on your child.

Features of the Recalls Plus App include:
â¢Proactively delivers timely recall alerts for the items on your Personal Watch List (a personalized list of the brands and products that you wish to monitor)
â¢Hand curates every product and food recall directly from government agencies (CPSC, NHTSA, FDA, USDA) for relevance to children and consolidates them in one place
â¢Provides parents a simple, easy-to-use solution to track recall information and instantly share it with family and friends.

The Recalls Plus App is available for free from the App Store on iPhone and iPod touch or at http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/recalls-plus/id499200328 and can be accessed on Facebook: http://apps.facebook.com/recallsplus.

Answer
Everything seems fine but I dont see your graphics card

the CPU and GPU are completely different things by the way, so I dont see why you meshed them in the descriptio

I'm not sure what the good ATI cards are, but get nVIDIA's 9800gt AT LEAST.

Everything else seems good enough to run the new games at high or ultra high

savannah monitor lizard where to buy in NY?

David B

I am deeply interested in finding a savannah monitor lizard, i live in ny, at the beginnings of Long Island, but only 25 miles from nyc. i would love nothing more than to find a breeder, but i cant find any, even when i go to places such as kingsnake.com, its almost impossible to find specifically what im looking for, and i dont want to buy from large chains like petco and petsmart that have no idea about anything they sell, and their animals are in unfortunate horrid conditions. if anyone knows some breeder or place nearby where i can purchase a savannah monitor lizard (preferabbly a baby from a breeder nearby) then please tell me as much info as u can...i want to make the lizard a new part of my family, and am committed to giving it unconditional love!

Answer
You're probably going to have to wait till spring time and order one.. With most of the monitors now being illegal in NY, I'm sure any local breeders are probably a bit leery of posting their stock online. Savannah's are still legal, but, your average animal control officer probably can't tell the difference between them and a couple of the banned monitors..
Here's a nice looking girl for sale on Kingsnake, though, you'd have to have her shipped...
http://market.kingsnake.com/detail.php?cat=53&de=565558

I would almost recommend going with a different monitor, like an Argus or Roughneck..
http://lllreptile.com/store/catalog/animals/monitors-and-tegus/-/young-adult-argus-monitor/
There's a young argus..
They seem to be a lot more available then the savannah..

Here's a good care sheet on the Savannah..
http://www.anapsid.org/savannah.html

I have never owned a monitor though, and can't really help you more then that.. I had done research on them as I was considering taking a friend's Nile monitor on, but, decided against it..

What is the range of a video baby monitor?

Charlie

We are thinking of getting a video baby monitor. We are wondering what is the distance the signal can be picked up. People are telling us burglars and pedophiles will drive around and pick up the signals. But what distance does it take, because we can see around our house where someone might park to view our monitor and that is in plain sight. Thanks for the help.

Answer
Video monitors don't have a long range but according to the article below, the picture is scrambled. The sound monitors can be heard as far as 900 feet, which is pretty much a small corner of your neighborhood.

I want to know what happens to these two characters in "Days of our lives"?

In the soap opera "Days of our live", there's this part that Sean is being kidnapped by Jane, an Bel thinks he has left her, I'm following the series but I can't wait to see what happens at the end. Does Bell move on with Fillip? or Sean finds a way to scape and get to her?

Answer
um, okay first of all their names are: Shawn, Belle, Philip and Jan (not Jane).

Shawn was kidnapped by Jan. she drugged him up and kept him in a wricked-y looking cage. he broke out, tried to stop Belle and Philip's wedding.
He started acting like such a jerk to Belle after his motorcycle accident, where he didn't remember being held captive by Jan. Jan told him that she and Shawn were engaged and Shawn went with it for a while.
Jan black mailed Mimi by telling her that if she didn't help her keep Shawn believing that she (Jan) and Shawn were a couple, and keep him away from Belle, that she (Jan) would tell Rex, (Mimi's boyfriend at the time) that she had an abortion. So Mimi kept quiet.

Belle and Philip were married for a while. Mimi and Jan got into a fight, and Jan ended up falling down some stairs and is STILL in a coma somewhere.

Shawn wised up, started behaving but still didn't know that Claire was HIS daughter. Philip and Belle tried to have another baby but it wasn't working. Shawn moved on w/Mimi after Rex found out that Mimi had an abortion and left her (he's left the show).
Mimi and Shawn married.

Shawn and Mimi, Belle and Philip were all trying to get pregnant and Philip contacted a doctor that specialized in tricky pregnancies. Shawn and Mimi were using a serogate mother since Mimi couldn't carry children, and Belle was being implanted w/Philip's embryo. BUT they were switched, and it was Philip's sperm that fertilized one of Mimi's eggs, which was implanted into the serogate, while Shawn's sperm fertilized Belle's egg and was implanted into her. they found out that they were mixed up and Philip was upset wanting Belle to abort the pregnancy, she refused. Belle had a miscarriage. Mimi found out that Claire was Shawn's but didn't tell Shawn because she didn't want him to divorce her.
Shawn finally found out that Claire was his daughter because Mimi left the baby monitor at Shawn and her apartment and Shawn over heard Mimi talking w/her mom Bonnie about it. Shawn threw Mimi out and divorced her and got hooked up w/some crazy hooker named Willow.

Philip freaked out after he found out Shawn was the father of Claire, and took off w/Claire.
Eventually Shawn and Belle got together after Belle had words about him living w/a hooker and not wanting Claire around her, and Philip went back into the military where he suffered a huge accident and they had to "rebuild" his face. (which brought about the new actor playing Philip...who really isn't new, he's played Philip before in the 90s.)

Victor was trying to make Belle and Shawn look like bad parents to get custody of Claire for Philip who was hiding out in his mansion.
there was a huge fight between Philip and Shawn and Belle about the baby. Shawn and Belle ran away w/Claire, Philip hunted them down. they all eventually forgave each other but it was only after Claire was lost at sea, and they spent months looking for Claire.
Then Shawn and Belle decided to leave and sail around the world like Bo and Hope did when Shawn was a little boy.
they've been off the show since John came back w/out his memory.
Philip took over the company from Victor, had a fling w/Chloe, then with Morgan, flirted a bit w/Melanie but is now dating Stephanie.

Have you tried this Baby Monitor?

Q. I was wondering if anyone has used a Fisher Price Sounds n' Lights Monitor with Dual Receivers??? My grandpa is very hard of hearing, and we were wondering if anyone thinks it will be loud enough for him to hear my gma (they sleep in seperate rooms) if she needs help in the middle of the night. She fell out of bed once and had to wait until morning to shine a flash light through a mirror to get his attentions across the apartment!!! (they're in an assisted living facility, but if no one knows she needs help....so please don't tell me its time for a nursing home)

Answer
Spend more money on a better-quality monitor. We have one and it's okay because we only use it for brief periods here and there; if it was on all the time I would've thrown it out in a rage long ago.

It is very static-y, prone to picking up other people's conversations and radio and so on, and generally kinda cheap.

Turned up loud enough to hear your Grandma, he will also be getting a boatload of static much of the time.

Note the less-than-glowing reviews on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Price-Sounds-N-Lights-Monitor/dp/B0009T2CB2

One thing about it that I find sucks is that the button to turn it on is something you can press and think you've turned it on, but sometimes it turns out that you needed to press it a bit harder. It's fiddly and irritating and, given its purpose, not terribly safe; there should be no ambiguity about turning a baby monitor on or off.

We recently purchased a wireless video baby monitor, and although it does work, there is significant interference in the signal due to my computer room with several PC's and servers. Is there a way to boost this signal to compensate for the interference, or to set up a repeater for the signal?

Answer
If you have interference any sort of repeater or amplifier will only repeat and / or amplify the interference (noise) along with the desired transmission (signal). The problem is likely a signal to noise ratio problem and interference.

I presume you have done all you can with repositioning the units to make them closer together without getting closer to the interference. If not try that

With the electronic interference it becomes even more difficult to address. A baby monitor is nothing more than a microphone in the baby's room and a speaker in the monitoring room linked wirelessly. Can you use a wired system? This may be your only practical choice. Perhaps a 5 MHz
