I have a 30-40 gallon tank until my custom one is done and I have 5 lights I just don't know how to set up the cage and what lights go where. Pictures would help alot
Answer
Why FIVE lights ???
You only need ONE - a 160 watt mercury vapour UV & Heat Lamp such as the Zoo Med PowerSun lamp. This should also have a guard over it and switched on from 12 to 14 hours a day.

For a juvenile monitor lizard you need use a 48" x 24" x 24" (or larger) wooden vivarium with glass sliding doors for 1 or 2 Beardies, something like this:

Glass is not a suitable material to use for keeping high-temperature / desert living reptiles from Africa in !
Wood has better heat-retaining properties and will also stop your lizard having too much humidity in the enclosure. Glass tends to cause chest infections & skin conditions due to condensation and lack of ventilation.
Heating should be provided by a roof-mounted 100 watt or 150 watt ceramic heat emitter:

or a reptile radiator

connect either device to a thermostat set at 75ºF. The probe should be sited 3" off the floor at the opposite end of the vivarium to the heater [the cool end].
It is ESSENTIAL that the heater is protected by a mesh guard to prevent your lizard burning itself:

Day-time Ultra-Violet light, "normal" white light and basking spot heat should be provided by a 160 watt mercury vapour UV & Heat Lamp such as the Zoo Med PowerSun lamp. This should also have a guard over it and switched on from 12 to 14 hours a day.

For Mommy's: Useful Baby Registry Items?

Natalie
So, I'm in the process of registering at Babies R Us and Target. I'm trying to have a modest registry plus I'm getting ALOT of hand me downs from friends, but I was wondering if you had any often over looked items that would be smart to put on my registry, ie: gas drops, teething gel, specific baby medicines, etc.
Or things in general you feel have been helpful for raising your little one. I've put lots of diapers, wipes and bibs.
P.S. It's a boy.
Thanks in advance!
Answer
Sorry, I'm a daddy answering this one too...
You didn't mention what you were getting from friends, so I'm just going to list off the things that my wife and I have found most useful:
- Diaper Genie & refills. (We have 2, one in the baby's room and one in the living room where we spend a lot of time)
- Baby Monitor
- Lots and lots of crib sheets.
- Lots and lots of burp-rags (we used cloth diapers for this)
- Boppy & covers
- You can never have too many bottles.
- Mirror for your car... the child will be rear-facing at first. There is a mirror you can get to mount in the back-seat so you can still see your child in your rear-view when driving.
- Shades for the car windows (the sun really bothered our daughter)
Basically, I would go for quantity on the re-usable stuff. The more bottles, burp rags, and crib sheets you have, the longer you can go before you have to wash them. It's not about being lazy, it's about having time... It's a bad feeling when your little one wants a bottle, but you have to make them wait a minute or two while you wash one out.
