I had my kids 13yrs apart and as a "new mom" with everything that is now out there {which wasnt available when I was 22 and having my daughter} I was over whelmed. I never used a changing table with either of my kids, infact I only know of one person to ever use one and most ppl do not pick up their dirty baby walk all the way to the babies room to use the changing table I dont think its a REQUIRED purchase. A crib, mattress, mattress cover {cloth not plastic}, sheets, recieving blankets just a few, burp cloths or soft dishtowels will work, diapers start now dont buy newborn you dont know exactly what the babies weight will be buy size 1's. Footed Pj's, oneies, socks, those cute little hats help to keep baby from getting cold since they lose so much body heat through their heads, a couple of outfits more if you dont have a shower, a swing can be a sanity saver as can a bouncy chair though my son perfered the swing and still hates the bouncy chair. Most websites will give you a list of things you should have for your new baby you dont need ALL of them just the things you'll use. Bottles, nipples, different types of pacifiers {went through 3 kinds to find one my son would take} it will come to you trust me. After 13yrs of not having a baby around the house it came back to me quick in fact it came back to me so quick my husband told me I had to stop buying clothes because the dresser we bought for our son when I was pregnant was over full before I delivered him 5 weeks early! Oh also if you can get a pack-and-play playpen with the full bassinet which you can keep in the living room during the day while baby sleeps. I really used mine more then I thought I would but I got tired of walking up and down those steps and a baby monitor. It wont need shoes babies dont walk so why put shoes on their feet unless its cold outside thats my view. Lets not forget the infant rear facing carseat and stroller you can get a travel system but I honestly found those strollers to be a bit bulky even in my SUV so I opted for the lightweight stroller.
Try this link it gives you suggestions but remember do not buy EVERYTHING you wont use it all buy what you know or have a strong feeling you will use. http://www.babyconnection.com/checklists/

Is posting numerous pictures of your small children on facebook exploitive?
Q. I am 21 years old and many of my friends are having babies or already have small children.
They all post numerous pictures of their babies and children online. Do you think this is dangerous? What if some pervert on MySpace finds them attractive then hunts them downt o molest them?
When I have children, I won't post their pictures of the entire world to see online!
What do you think?

Answer
Some people are very comfortable with this. If the parent is OK, that's fine. Most of the time, people have their My Space and Facebook accounts set to private. I think that's fine, it allows friends who aren't local to see their friend's children grow.
I can understand about the pervert thing. I don't know if I would put my own children's pictures up there. But, more than likely, no one is going to see a picture on line, hunt down and do something horrible to these children.
Most perverts prey on children who are vulnerable. That's why most children know their abusers quite well. Strangers do prey on children, but I don't think that's increased in young children because the Internet. Maybe for pre-teens and young teens who get themselves into trouble speaking with strangers online.
Most parent of young children do a wonderful job monitor where and with whom their children are with.
I think this is a personal choice. I might do this for my own children. But, only on a site that's private and can be viewed only by my friends.
But, everyone is different.
