is it a higher SIDS risk? my baby always falls asleep in her infant car seat/carrier and when i get home im wondering can i leave her sleeping in it till seh wakes up? i heard its bad to let them sleep in it , but why?
i cant take her out and transfer to crib without waking her up and she starts crying
Answer
It is bad because babies do not have good neck strength and risk having their heads fall forward cutting off their airways. A baby died as a result of this.
That being said, it is better have your child restrained when in the car in a car seat but you should not use it around the house unless you are carefully monitoring your child and even then you should take them out of their seat and not let them sleep in it for an extended period of time:

When my twins were born they had to go through a "car-seat" test as they were low birth weight to make sure that their head would not fall forward leading to lack of oxygen. My daughter failed the first time and if she did not pass before being released from the hospital, they were going to require us to get a 'car-bed" instead of a car seat to take her home.
I think your baby dying in a car seat is a very small risk . . . but it can happen and it has happened in the past.

What kind of substrates can I use for a Savannah Monitor?

h_dragon66
I have had my savannah since he was a baby and it has been a few years. I have always used sand, but I want to change it to something else! I heard you can use Cypress Mulch.. Is that ok? Or what is a good substrate for them to burrow into? I use mulch for my snakes but I dont know if that would be ok for a monitor..
Answer
I starred this in hopes that Varanid will come along and offer his .02 as I think he does have experience w/ cypress and monitors. A 50/50 mix of topsoil and playground sand works great!!
