Question about contractions not showing up on monitor during labor?

Annette

Hey, when I had my first child, my contractions weren't showing up on the monitor! The doctor told me they were 'inverted contractions'. Anyone ever have a similar experience? I'm wondering because I'm prego now, 13 weeks, and just wondering if I'll have the same prob when I go into labor this time. :)

Answer
i was placed on a monitor and told the pains i was gettin every 5 mins were not "real" beacuse they were not being picked up and sent home, thankfully i was having a home birth when i got home i called the midwife she came and gave me an internal and i was over 5cms dlialted!! and had baby about 4hrs later

my next baby i refused to be monitored and made them do an internal
maybe you could explain to them what had happened with last baby and see if they will do the same for you

Baby moving a ton during labor?

Katharine

I'm guessing I'm not even close to labor yet, but my question is will the baby still move? I don't remember with my first if he did or not. This one is still crazy active - more than usual even. I'm 39 weeks 5 days, having horrible back pain, some stomach cramping, pounding headache, can't sleep at all...hoping labor will come soon

Answer
Poor thing, I just went through all of this a few weeks ago and I feel your pain. I had my lil girl 5 weeks ago and she did move while in early labor. I was induced so I was hooked up 2 the monitors and could hear her move on the heartbeat monitor. Once I was in active labor I was in too much pain to even realize if she was moving or not.
