I need to plug in an American baby monitor into an African outlet. The American monitor only has an input of 1?

Kristie

I just moved to South Africa from the USA. I have an American baby monitor, amongst other things that I need to be able to plug in. I already bought some of their outlet converter deals that you plug into the African jack and then you can plug your American item into itâ¦..BUT my problem is that the INPUT on the monitor is less that 220 Volts. I know it will blow it out if I try and plug it in.

I think the North American standard outlet input is 120 V. But the African outlet input standard is 220V.

Is there something I can buy to be able to increase the voltage the monitor can take? OR reduce the voltage going into the monitor from the African outlet.

Surely there is an engineer or electrician out there who can help me!!! HAAA

Answer
Buy a step down transformer from the electrical shop.
