I have tried a few, and I have found that Fisher Price monitors are the best. Both in terms of sound quality and longevity. I don't have the latest version but baby bargins book always gives good advice on purchases.

Answer
I also have the same brand but the hand held one. It is a great monitor in terms of convenience because I can watch my baby no matter where I go in the house. I have been using it for nine months without problems and the sound quality is great. It catches the most minute sounds. Even picks up the sound of my baby moving even a little. It works great in the dark as well. The only downside is that it claims it is a colored monitor but it only works in black and white. But It has been a life saver for me. Other wise i would be sitting by my baby all day long while he slept. Good luck
